Eretz Israel is our unforgettable historic homeland...The Jews who will it shall achieve their State...And whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind. (Theodor Herzl, DerJudenstaat, 1896)

We offer peace and amity to all the neighbouring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all. The State of Israel is ready to contribute its full share to the peaceful progress and development of the Middle East.
(From Proclamation of the State of Israel, 5 Iyar 5708; 14 May 1948)

With a liberal democratic political system operating under the rule of law, a flourishing market economy producing technological innovation to the benefit of the wider world, and a population as educated and cultured as anywhere in Europe or North America, Israel is a normal Western country with a right to be treated as such in the community of nations.... For the global jihad, Israel may be the first objective. But it will not be the last. (Friends of Israel Initiative)

"Jexodus"

French intellectual Guy Millière, of the University of Paris, reminds us here that, perversely, there is in France one source of antisemitism which authorities don't seem keen on naming.

It's a source of antisemitism that the people in this video can identify all too well.

As a "companion piece" to my last post, here's Katie talking to French Jews and others who have made aliya (or in Katie's word, joined the "Jexodus" from the old homeland) due to that very source ofantisemitism ...  The emphasis on France begins from abour 16:14, and after a brief segment about what's happening (and not for the better) in Italy, there is much emphasis on France and on Israel, where a most personable rabbi talks frankly: "You are not safe, and we are more safe than you", he says  ...

Antisemitism in Europe: What Katie Says

"The Existential Threat to Liberal Democracies"

A searing look at the way the so-called European Court of Human Rights is bedeviling human rights in Europe.

Another on the plight of child brides in (and outside) the land of the mullahs.

And Douglas Murray on Islam's hostility to Jews, as revealed in a recent grubby incident in Britain regarding commemoration of the Holocaust.

Not inappropriately, here's long video from the Milken Institute featuring a panel discussion in London last month on mass migration into Europe, in which panellist Gemma Mortensen, who's no advocate of closed borders, nevertheless readily empathises with those of the European public who fear what she calls "the existential threat to liberal democracies" that current policies appear to pose.

The panellists who own the debate are the ever-wise Ayaan Hirsi Ali (who warns of the cultural baggage so many of the newcomers, entailing values that sit ill with European values, and which, inter alia, involve violence and misogyny), and the equally perceptive Mr Murray.

Right, Wrong & Antisemitism

Leftist brainwashing for little kiddies; see here
In the wake of events in Charlottesville, the current issue of the Australian Jewish News (AJN) contains the results of an online poll among its readers: "Are you concerned about the rise of the far right?"

Those results, given in percentages, are 58 per cent responding in the affirmative, and 42 per cent in the negative.

Since in practice anyone can respond to these AJN polls (anti-Israel lefties sometimes alert their followers to them on social media, the better to distort the results) this may or may not represent a true cross-section of communal opinion.

At the same time, as an indication of communal vox populi, the oral answers of five named and photographed Jewish members of the public to the question posed in the poll are given on that same page.  All five are indeed concerned about the rise of the far right, which is fair enough, but two of the five respondents appear to be somewhat confused:
"Yes I am.  It is happening in Barcelona ..."
"It does concern me, but in Australia it's not as bad as the USA or Europe."
Such naivity.  Such ignorance. Evidently, those respondents are unaware of the findings of the recently-published study by University of Oslo academic Dr Johannes Due Enstad entitled Antisemitic Violence in Europe, 2005-2015, which finds Muslims, not the far right, chiefly responsible for antisemitic hate crimes in every country except Russia.

To quote from here:
'....Who is responsible for the attacks on Jews? In every country studied, except for Russia, the perpetrators are disproportionately of Muslim backgrounds. A British study cited in the University of Oslo report notes that the proportion of Muslim perpetrators increases in the wake of “trigger events” in the Middle East.
In what might be considered a clumsy attempt to downplay anti-Semitism, German authorities do not classify anti-Israeli incidents as anti-Semitism. This results in absurdity. A Muslim firebombing of a synagogue can be classified as an anti-Israeli event, but not anti-Semitic. If any country should know better, it should be Germany. Is Kristallnacht going to be reinterpreted as not anti-Semitism, but a demonstration for racial purity?
The only country where anti-Semitic incidents are not disproportionately perpetrated by Muslims is Russia, and it is the only country in the University of Oslo study where Jews do not fear to express their Jewish identity when appearing in public. This appears to perplex the study’s author, as Russia contains both large Jewish and Muslim populations.
Yet the issue is easily resolved. In Russia, the large Muslim and Jewish populations live in the same country, but are generally separated by a vast expanse of land. Most Muslims live in the Eurasian Caucasus region. Most Jews live in Moscow and Saint Petersburg....'

In 2015 no less than 10,000 Western European Jews made aliya, and many more are thinking of emigrating.  The reason is not far to seek.

As so often, the depth of the burgeoning threats to European civilisation posed by replacement demography is excellently and articulately expressed by the courageous Douglas Murray;  in this worthwhile 13-minute video he reminds his audience (approx. 5:04) that he has no Israel to which to escape:

"A Sensitive Topic For Many Muslims": The BBC Hits A New Low

Is there no limit to the depths to which the BBC will sink in its biased reportage concerning Israel?

On its news site currently is a story, that sounds more of a propagandistic beat-up, about Muslim schoolgirls from a Berlin school being "racially abused" on a visit to Holocaust memorials in Poland.

For the BBC, as for much of the Left, the "victimisation" of Muslims, real or imagined, is a topic worthy of the maximum exposure, for Muslims, it seems, are "the new Jews".

Thus the BBC's salivating over the theme that "German Muslim schoolgirls who went on a visit to Holocaust memorials in eastern Poland say they were racially abused by locals during their trip" is almost palpable.

Gratuitous attacks on anyone, irrespective of race or creed, are unconscionable and despicable.

But what the blazes does the following statement have to do with the report in question?

"The Holocaust is a sensitive topic for many Muslims because Jewish survivors settled in British mandate Palestine, on land which later became part of the state of Israel"
Not for the BBC, so far as I'm aware, frank reportage about Muslim antisemitism as seen in the many Al Quds Day hate-fests in European cities, including London (as I have mentioned in several recent posts) and Berlin (see below the new demographics where once the jackboot strutted):

Yep.  There they teach hatred of Israel young:

Ex-CIA Officer on Islamic Antisemitism in Europe (video)

Former CIA operative Clare Lopez (full biography here) is a strategic policy and intelligence expert specialising on such issues as the Middle East, national defense, waepons of mass destruction, and counterterrorism.  Vice President of the non-profit forum the Intelligence Summit,  she teaches courses at the Centre for Counterintelligence and Security Studies (CI Centre) on the Iranian Intelligence Services, and the expanding influence of Jihad and Sharia in Europe and the U.S. She's co-author of two published books on Iran.

At the current OCSE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) Conference in Warsaw regarding Human Rights she pulled no punches in attributing the "resurgent and savage waves of antisemitism" in Europe, especially France, to Muslims and cites as a driver "scriptural writing of the Islamic canon".

In Merkeland, Nazi Chants & A Woman Doesn't Have To Be Young To Be Harassed

For the naive Jews and others who castigate those of us who dare to oppose open borders for hordes of male Muslim invaders  masquerading as refugees, a glimpse into the heart of darkness:

And now for proof that in Merkeland a woman doesn't have to be young to be harassed.
Not the man on the street but the woman on the street for a change.  Here's an elderly lady in Hamburg, telling of the harassment and intimidation she has received from men of a misogynist culture.  Even as she speaks a group of Muslim youths comes up to mock and interject:

Racist of me to share Vlad Tepes's video?  I hardly think so.  After all, though not as elderly as this lady, I know how it feels to be surrounded by a group of young Muslim men intent on some kind of mischief.  I've blogged elsewhere about the incident in Antwerp that had me scared.

"These People, They Are Nothing More Than Kufar" & Other Scenes From Eurabia

Business as usual: Israel-haters in Amsterdam
In the Australian Murdoch-owned newspaper the Herald-Sun on Sunday, a good article by conservative columnist Miranda Devine, who absolutely nailed it when she wrote that the agenda of the ABC (the BBC's counterpart Down Under)
"is to deny the threat of Islamist terrorism, to engender complacency, and avoid confronting the fact that Islamists are bringing their war to the West.
It is cultural relativists telling us we have no right to feel aggrieved by the attacks on Brussels or Paris or Sydney or Melbourne, because there are more terrorist atrocities in the Middle East and Africa."

With those familiar mendacious maps
As she so rightly says,
"there's a reason our civilised Judaeo-Christian societies are peaceful, compared with broken Islamic states that are spawning a murderous ideology that threatens the world.  Our culture is superior and we want to keep it that way.
But the Left are still clutching at straws to deny the undeniable.  As the blood of innocents fills the streets of Europe ... the very people who weakened our defences are now pretending there isn't a problem."
Ms Devine quotes from Belgian Senator Alain Destexhe's "chilling article" in La Libre Belgique last week,  in which he describes how the long-serving former Mayor of Molenbeek, Philippe Moureaux,
"ushered in a generation of Muslim radicals, mainly from Morocco or Turkey, who kept him in power and who silenced critics by calling them Islamophobic....
Fundamentalist Salafist imams and teachers funded by Saudi Arabia were imported to spread ideological poison.  Molenbeek, now more than 40 per cent Muslim, became Belgium's fastest growing place....Molenbeek gradually became an area of lawlessness, where agents of the water or electricity services must be accompanied by police, where almost all restaurants are closed during Ramadan, when 'dirty Jew' has become a common insult... and where blondes and those who wear short skirts are treated as whores or sluts."
No-go areas. Islamic antisemitism. Contempt for and attacks on women.  That has a familiar ring, of course.

Five years ago an Israeli television crew exposed what is going on in Belgium and other provinces of Eurabia, and what the Islamists' ultimate goal is, in this compelling  44-minute video, from which my header is just one of many telling and troubling quotations (hat tip: Vlad Tepes blog):

The media made much today of the "football hooligans" who invaded a peaceful demonstration in central Brussels.

But I doubt many have shown this Islamic troublemaker, yelling "Palestine!" over and over (hat tip: Vlad Tepes again):

Concludes Ms Devine:
"Weak, socially progressive Belgium has become Europe's most hospitable host of the Islamic cancer.  But its failures provide us with a salutary lesson of what not to do."
Like fellow Herald-Sun columnist Andrew Bolt in his Monday column today, she cited the Belgian ambassador to Australia, Jean-Luc Bodson, as one of those naive fools.  But their numbers are legion.
Why, far from learning what not to do, even the Pope, in his Easter message, urges Christian Europe to, in effect, lay down and die, and the BBC laps it up!

Sheer  hypocrisy from the wretch who opened Britain's gates to all and sundry, irrespective of their compatibility with Western values:

And those who would aid and abet the demise of a once-great nation.  I wonder how many of these leftists and anti-nationalists also march against Israel.  A rather high proportion, I'd wager.

But as Europe again experiences Islamic Terror, will Europeans now be more sympathetic towards Israel?

Sadly, if the aftermath of 9/11 is anything to go by, I doubt it.

Meanwhile, some ready references from reader Mr Cohen:

*** QUOTES FROM THE KORAN ABOUT INFIDELS ***

Koran, chapter 4, paragraph 95:
Not equal are those believers who sit at home and receive no injurious hurt, and those who strive hard fighting jihad in Allah’s cause with their wealth and lives. Allah has granted a higher rank to those who strive hard fighting jihad with their wealth and bodies, above those who sit [at home]. Unto each Allah has promised good, but He prefers the jihadists who strive hard and fight above those who sit home. He has distinguished His fighters with a huge reward.

Koran, chapter 8, paragraph 12:
Your Lord inspired the angels with the message:
I will terrorize the unbelievers. Therefore smite them on their necks and every joint and incapacitate them. Strike off their heads and cut off each of their fingers and toes.

Koran, chapter 8, paragraph 39:
So fight them until there is no more fitnah [disbelief of non-Muslims] and all [people in the world] submit to the religion of Allah alone.

Koran, chapter 8, paragraph 59:
The infidels should not think that they can get away from us. Prepare against them whatever weapons you can muster, so that you may terrorize them. They are your enemy and Allah’s enemy.

Koran, chapter 8, paragraph 65:
O Prophet, urge the faithful to fight. If there are 20 among you with determination they will vanquish 200. If there are 100 then they will slaughter 1,000 unbelievers, because the infidels are a people devoid of understanding.

Koran, chapter 9, paragraph 5:
Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war.

Koran, chapter 9, paragraph 14:
Fight them and Allah will punish them by your hands, lay them low, and cover them with shame. He will help you over them.

Koran, chapter 9, paragraph 29:
Fight those who do not believe until they all surrender, paying the protective tax [jizya] in submission.

Koran, chapter 9, paragraph 123 :
Fight the unbelievers around you, and let them find harshness in you.

Koran, chapter 47, paragraph 4:
When you clash with the unbelieving infidels in battle, smite their necks until you overpower them, killing and wounding many of them. At length, when you have thoroughly subdued them, bind them firmly, making [them] captives. Thereafter either generosity or ransom (whichever benefits Islam) until the war lays down its burdens. Thus you are commanded by Allah to continue carrying out Jihad against the unbelieving infidels until they submit to Islam.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS
**********************************

Mohammed’s last words before he died:

“O Lord, kill the Jews and Christians.”

SOURCE: Hadith Malik, 511:1588

EXPLANATION: Islam teaches that Mohammed’s
later teachings take priority over his older teachings.
Therefore, the later the teaching, the greater it is.
Therefore, Muslims must believe that Mohammed’s
last words were his most important words.
Hadith is a major Islamic holy book, like the Koran.

QUOTE 2:

“Many Islamic practices, such as fasting, tithing, daily prayers, and profession of faith, have much in common with Christianity and Judaism. However, what makes Islam different from other religions is its call to kill and subjugate all other members of other faiths. The terrorist of today as well as imams in mosques throughout the world are calling for the deaths of millions of people around the world in the name of Islam. They are calling for jihad against the infidels, citing suras and verses from the Koran and Hadith to support their call to action.”

Westerners come from a Judeo-Christian background, where the teaching of faith centers on love, tolerance, and forgiveness. They do not understand that the sword of Islam represents hatred, intolerance, murder, and the subjugation of anyone not Muslim.

"Jews Are The New Jews"

In Old London Town
By the philosemitic British journalist Julie Burchill, a gutsy piece refuting the fashionable leftist and Muslim canard that "Muslims are the new Jews":
Here's a taster:
'.... How are Muslims not the New Jews? Let me count the ways.
For a start, there seems to be no sign of any sort of Kindertransport in action - rather, the modus operandi would appear to be "women and children last" judging by the huge groups of able-bodied young men who have found their way to the West.... I don't recall any accounts of marauding bands of Jewish youths mob-handedly molesting gentile women on the streets of countries which gave them refuge....
[T]here is only one tiny Jewish majority country, which did not exist until 1948, and so the Jews fleeing persecution throughout the centuries had no place of assured safety until recently; yet another reason why supporters of Israel such as myself are so passionate about its survival. The Jews who came to Britain as refugees came to a very different country, with no welfare state, also speaking no English and with little money....
Likewise
Jewish refugees left the virulently antisemitic countries of Eastern Europe for the moderately antisemitic countries of Western Europe and considered it a good exchange, grasping the new freedom that came their way and running with it. Certain sections of the Muslim community, on the other hand, seem to veer between rather hysterical extremes of victorhood and victimhood....
Somewhat embarrassingly, a recent Freedom of Information request by a Sikh organisation found that of 400 anti-Muslim "hate crimes" recorded in the first half of last year, 28 per cent were not on Muslims at all.
But I don't mind the stats which tell us how many Muslims were attacked so long as we also get the stats on how many Muslims attacked people, including their own people in so-called "honour crimes", which are actually hate crimes of the most cowardly kind, usually committed on defenceless young girls by one or more fully-grown men.
Meanwhile, antisemitic attacks continue to rise - and the Jewish Community Security Trust doesn't need to add attacks on Christians to bulk up the numbers....
Muslims are not the new Jews - Jews are the new Jews and sadly Muslims now number greatly among their chief tormentors.
But there is a greater issue at stake here, far beyond the different standards of behaviour displayed by Jewish refugees in the past and Muslim refugees now. Wherever the Jews have gone, they have enriched and opened up the host culture far beyond the extent even to which they have enriched and opened up themselves....'

Beware the Diktats

As the BBC, to its credit, reports at length here, there's a Twitter campaign afoot to show solidarity in France with beleaguered French Jewry by wearing kippot in sympathy with that community, whose members are feeling so vulnerable that (as again the BBC reports) they are making aliya in unprecedented numbers.

The reason for their plight and flight is, of course, heightened levels of antisemitism, including vicious physical attacks and killings, perpetrated mainly by Islamic haters of Jews and Israel.

"Eurabia" and its consequences for Jews, for Israel, for women, for western civilisation itself, is of course a legitimate, indeed a vital subject for discourse.  The ramifications of mass Muslim migration, particularly of unaccompanied males, affects us all.  Many Europe-watchers predict dire consequences for Europeans' progeny.  Some foresee a civil war.  Others believe that it is not too fanciful to suggest that, if demographic trends remain as they are, national legislatures, including the parliament at Westminster, might one day consist of a majority of persons who would vote in sharia law!

Meanwhile,  however, the increasingly dictatorial Online Hate Prevention Institute (OHPI) has chided a social media user concerned at the recent sex assaults on women in Germany and elsewhere who used the phrase "gangs of young Arab men of military age" in relation to the attacks.

Warns the OHPI:

I have blogged  about the deleterious implications for free speech now posed by the OHPI.

So, much more ably, have others.

See, for example, here

And here

There is even a rather disturbing video in existence.  You can see it here

Whatever its merits (and it certainly has some), the OHPI must not be permitted to muzzle or intimidate political discourse by a campaign of removal or threats to remove, or to dilute (I could almost say "emasculate"!) the narrative of that discourse by dictating how legitimate concerns are to be phrased.

Europe: The Big Issue

The Big Issue, which draws attention to homelessness, unemployment, and related social issues, is a social initiative magazine in the UK that's sold on busy street corners and other well-populated hotspots up and down the country by and on behalf of "homeless and other socially vulnerable people".

In a small town in the UK that I livd in prior to returning to Australia, (drum roll: politically incorrect statements coming up) the magazine's sturdy young vendor, stationed a couple of days a week outside the local bank, was the very same  chap with the dyed yellow ponytail who'd often sit in the bank's doorway asking everyone who passed to spare him some change.  (Funnily enough, he always had money for hair bleach, liquor, and cigarettes.)

Anyway, not long after the admission of Romania into the European Community, a member of that country's Roma community, obviously newly arrived in Britain, muscled in his patch.

Within weeks the pony-tailed vendor was gone altogether, and then there were two Roma vendors, and finally three, two male and one female (well, two time-sharing females actually, the elder in an advanced state of pregnancy), stationed at key points in the High Street repeating mantra-like in fractured English: "Big Issue please".

Just round the corner, on the narrow pavement of  the street leading directly from the railway station, was the elderly matriarch of the group: partially blocking a shop window, she sat on a folding chair with a rug over her knees and a begging bowl at her feet, wishing everyone who passed an obviously insincere "Good morning."

Now, hawking a magazine critical of the socio-economic policy of a host country known for its generous welfare system as soon as you've reached its shores (and been granted accommodation in one of its council houses to boot) struck me as the height of chutzpah.  And the intimidating, intrusive presence of three Big Issue sellers where one had sufficed struck me as decidedly dodgy.

It evidently struck someone in authority as dodgy too, for one fine day all of them, plus their beggarly mother, were not in their accustomed spots, and were never seen again.

Still, I have nothing against the magazine itself, which undoubtedly performs a valuable social service, and whose contents are not without interest.  Indeed, one of its recent articles is very interesting indeed.   Written by Samira Ahmed, it observes inter alia:
'Polling here shows a large number of Britons, the majority even, are at best cautious about taking in refugees from Syria because of the fear of conservative Islamic attitudes. Some readers might want to dismiss this as a cover for racism, just as in the 1930s the Daily Mail warned of the “threat” of so many Jews coming from Hitler’s Germany.
But ... looking at gender opens up a legitimate question about how you build a strong and stable society. Where are all the women refugees? According to the latest UNHCR figures, 72 per cent of the numbers arriving in western Europe so far in 2015 are men, 15 per cent children and only 13 per cent women. A BBC World Service reporter a few days ago described on air the unease he and female colleagues felt when they tried to interview women refugees, only to be uniformly refused permission by their men.
So where ARE the women refugees? Some men will have planned to establish themselves and then bring families over safely. But talking to lawyers dealing with the influx of young male Afghan migrants here a decade earlier, it seems in many cases families spend money on the people they value most. And that’s not the women.
When we talk of compassion and doing the right thing in these humanitarian crises, perhaps we ignore gender at our peril.'
As the website Biased BBC points out, Ms Ahmed is a Muslim and a BBC broadcaster, yet the issues she raises do not appear to have been ventilated on the BBC.

This issue of gender is indeed a core one, but not the only example of the incompatibility of Islam with the essential core values of Western society, the values that make Europe what it is, values that, as this video shows, are scorned and spurned by a worrying part of the Islamic community in Germany.

In this video we meet Muslims who are in Germany but not of it, young Muslims who place sharia law above the German constitution.  We meet the school principal (Beate Altmann) who is exasperated with the situation, including the antisemitism voiced by Muslim children at her school.

There are children who justify the Charlie Hebdo murders, unapologetic upholders of male supremacy and the "honour" killings of women, youngsters of both sexes who cling to the Islamic belief that women are inferior to men, the property of their husbands, and obligated to obey the dictates of male family members..

We meet a third generation immigrant of Lebanese background who administers sharia law.  We meet followers of his who prefer his intervention in disputes to that of the police.

We meet a Christian refugee from Syria who has been threatened by Muslims in the very land in which he sought refuge and who is disgusted by the casual contempt for women shown.  And so on.

We meet a rabbi who despairs of Islamic antisemitism and, having experienced hate crime personally, as has his daughter, advises Jews in their best interests not to identify in public as such.

Non-assimilation and all that it entails.    This is the big issue confronting the entire West. To whet your appetite, this post is peppered with screengrabs I've taken from it.

Update: Here's Douglas Murray, speaking in Copenhagen on an aspect of Europe's Big Issue:

And Pat Condell, pointing out that Europe's ghastly bureaucratic elites are utterly failing women (and Jews) with the current Muslim invasion, and declaring that it's time the people of Europe claimed asylum from the EU:

For Whom The Bell Tolls

Scene: a Christian cemetery on the Croatian/Serbian border.

Dramatis personae: Muslim invaders migrants.

Script: As told to and by the BBC's Orla Guerin.

Many observers will no doubt stare uneasily at that this screengrab from one of  Ms Guerin's BBC news reports about the current invasion of migration of Muslims of eclectic provenance into Europe.

For the image captured may well symbolise the European future.

As we all know, from when she used to demonise Israel on a regular basis, the wild-eyed, doom-laden voiced Guerin (like Bowen, Donnison, Knell, and the rest of the arrogant mob of leftist Beeboids who infest Twitter and the airwaves) has never let the BBC's Charter and producers' guidelines come between her and her personal biases.

Hence tweets such as these from her, feminist though she seems to be:

The other day, I posted a humdinger of a video by Rabbi David Bar-Hayim warning of the dire consequences for the West of the kind of mass Muslim migration we are now witnessing.

Source: Seen on Twitter; provenance unknown

Here's a look (horrendous to behold) at how one of Europe's northern nations is accelerating its own destruction.

As Denis Prager, himself a Jew, has observed:
'Allowing millions of Syrians and others from the Muslim Middle East into Europe will end up a catastrophe for Europe, and therefore for the West....
How does an ethically motivated person -- Jew or non-Jew -- deal with the emotionally powerful Holocaust argument?
For one thing, the parallels are far from precise.
Every Jew in Nazi-occupied Europe -- man, woman, child, baby -- was targeted for death. The Syrian people are not targeted for death. The only such targets in the Middle East -- aside from the Jews of Israel -- are Christians and Yazidis, every one of whom should most definitely be allowed into Europe and the United States.
The parallel is also imprecise because the vast majority of the Jews of Germany and many other European countries were assimilated citizens of their respective countries, who thoroughly embraced Western culture and values. In contrast, most of the Muslims of the Middle East -- and the largely Muslim population (from non-Arab countries) already in Europe -- hold values that are not merely different from, but opposed to, those of Europe.
It is not as if Europe has no experience with large numbers of Muslim immigrants. And the experience has been largely negative.....'

Regarding safe haven for Middle Eastern Christians cruelly persecuted by Muslims (for whom the prominent British publisher Lord Weidenfeld, a refugee from Nazism, has nobly made provision, though not to the liking of Islamophiles who bemoan the "discrimination" against Muslims),  Britain's Sunday Express reports, inter alia, the views of Dr Patrick Sookhdeo, head of the Barnabas Fund:
'According to Mr [sic] Sookhdeo, Britain’s offer to take up to 20,000 Syrian refugees inadvertently discriminates against the Christian communities most victimised by the Islamic State butchers.
He said: “The British government has said it will take 20,000 refugees and we have said, ‘Will you not take some Christians?’ But we have had no reply.
“We have even put out a joint statement with Muslim Aid to the Government saying both communities are suffering, can’t you look after both?
“What David Cameron is doing, we believe, is unfair.
“He has said he will go to the camps to get the refugees, but the problem is that the Christians don’t like to live in the camp.
“What they prefer to do is to live in church halls or else with families and the reason is that it is safer for them. What we are saying to the Government is that you need a broader based approach.
“By all means take the most vulnerable people but don’t just take them from the camps because you are only going to get one kind of people. When it comes to other countries they all say that European legislation means you can’t discriminate between one religious community and another but we say surely the most vulnerable are the ones you have got to be taking in.”
In areas controlled by IS, Christians have been crucified, beheaded, raped and subjected to forced conversion.
Christian children are also being sold as slaves.
Mr Sookhdeo added: “It is like going back 1,000 years seeing the barbarity that Christians are having to live under. I think we are dealing with a group which makes Nazism pale in comparison and I think they have lost all respect for human life.
“Crucifying these people is sending a message and they are using forms of killing which they believe have been sanctioned by Sharia law.
“For them what they are doing is perfectly normal and they don’t see a problem with it. It is that religious justification which is so appalling.” ....'

"The Minority ... Needs A Cowardly & Silent Majority ... & Forces It To Accept What The Minority Wants": A rabbi warns

Back in January, in the immediate wake of the Charlie Hebdo and kosher supermarket bloodshed in Paris, this rabbi from Paris made a heartfelt commentary on the situation facing Jews in Europe, that is in his view so dire that he feels ill.

Comparing the source of antisemitism in Europe in our day to its source in the "Devil's Decade" of the 1930s, he warns that history seems set to repeat itself.  It is not the majority that decides human history and the fates of nations, he maintains, but the minority.  And what does a minority require in order to impose its will and its regime upon the majority, he asks: why, it requires the majority to cower, silent and supine.

His recommendation? I think you can guess.

This is a video that deserves watching (or listening to, for it consists entirely of a talking head) in its entirety.  Rita, the translator, who is herself a blogger (see the credits at the beginning of the video) has done an outstanding job in providing the subtitles.

As for antisemitism in today's Europe, there's an interesting new article here

I read that article, and this by Marvellous Melanie, and shortly afterwards I saw this snap of keffiyeh-wearing Israel-hating Scottish lads and lassies, below. And the phrase "useful idiots" immediately and inexorably came to mind.

Taken For A Ride: Balls & A Chain

All aboard! One of the recent sights of London
It seems that in common with other news outlets even the BBC has been taken for a ride by a news agency's error, and in the process has taken the public for a ride.

"More than 1,000 people in 'ring of peace' outside Oslo synagogue" headlined a BBC report yesterday, for instance:
'A group of young Muslims has gathered more than 1,000 people to form a "ring of peace" around Oslo's main synagogue....
"We want to demonstrate that Jews and Muslims do not hate each other," co-organiser Zeeshan Abdullah told crowds in front of the synagogue on Saturday.
"We do not want individuals to define what Islam is for the rest of us. There are many more peace-mongers than warmongers."
Norway's Chief Rabbi Michael Melchior sang the traditional Jewish end of Sabbath song outside the synagogue.
It was the first time co-organiser Hassan Raja had heard the song, he said.
Ervin Kohn, head of Oslo's Jewish community, described the event as "unique".
Hajrah Arshad, another of the eight organisers of the event, said it showed "that Islam is about love and unity'.
Alas, as reported with photographs here, as well as (don't miss it either) here, it was all exaggeration, hyperbole, misrepresentation, and wishful thinking.

Far from being a warm and fuzzy judeophile, an organiser of the supposed love-in is on record as saying that da Joos did 9/11:
",,,,Chishti confirmed on Saturday in an interview with Verdens Gang, a Norwegian tabloid, that he delivered a speech in Oslo on March 22, 2009 on the alleged involvement of Jews in planning the 9/11 World Trade Center bombings in New York. The speech’s title was “Therefore I Hate Jews and Gays,” the newspaper reported, though Chishti said he was not the one who came up with the title.
“There were several thousand Jews away from work in the World Trade Center, and why there were more Jews in Mumbai when Pakistani terrorists attacked than usual?” he said then, repeating the conspiracy theory that Jews knew in advance of the 2001 Twin Towers attack that killed thousands. “Jews are a small group, but everyone knows that they have a lot of power.”
And the 1000-strong human chain consisted of around twenty people, who far from forming a ring around the synagogue formed a line out front instead.

Very nice of that score or so of individuals and all that, but unfortunately the gesture is hardly going to dent the Islamic antisemitism which bedevils much of Europe.

Pat Condell: "It's Muslim Antisemitism, Progressive Jews, and Not The Far Right ..." (video)

Here's that frank-talking man again, on the major source of antisemitism in Europe, and urging others to be as on-the-bullseye as he is in identifying it, publicly:

Antisemitism: The Rising Stench From Europe

'For years, some Jewish leaders entertained delusory expectations concerning the rise of Islam in Europe. Some believed that a more religiously diverse Europe would conduce to an even more secure place for Judaism in the long term. Others thought that by joining the fight against such conventionally defined evils as “anti-immigration bigotry,” “anti-Arab racism,” and “anti-Islamic prejudice,” European Jews would earn the affection and gratitude of Islam at large and perhaps even contribute to peace between Israel and its neighbors. Still others were of the view that Muslims would gradually become integrated and assimilated into the European mainstream, just like Jews in the past.

Such hopes are long gone. The sad fact is that many European Muslims subscribe to the unreconstructed forms of anti-Semitism that are prevalent in the Muslim world at large, and are impervious to any kind of Holocaust-related education. In today’s Europe, hard-core anti-Jewish and anti-Israel activity, from harassment in the street or at school to arson and murder, is mostly the doing of Muslims.'

So writes French journalist Michel Gurfinkiel, in an absolute stunner of an essay asking whether there is a long-term future for Jews in Europe.

He continues:

'Another, opposite set of delusions is also gone: namely, that European Jews could easily or safely take part in a broad alliance against radical Islam. True, there is no doubt that most ethnic Europeans feel as threatened by Islam as do most Jews. A Tilder/Institut Montaigne poll released in April this year found that, with one exception, all religions in France are regarded positively; the one outlier, Islam, is regarded negatively by fully 73 percent of Frenchmen. According to another poll, by Ipsos/Le Monde, 74 percent find Islam “intolerant” and 80 percent believe it is “forcing its ways on French society at large.” A parallel poll conducted in Germany last year yielded similar results, with 70 percent associating Islam with “fanaticism and radicalism,” 64 percent calling it “prone to violence,” and 60 percent citing its penchant for “revenge and retaliation.” In addition, 80 percent of Germans think Islam “deprives women of their rights” and 53 percent foresee a battle between Islam and Christianity.

Is there any comfort to be drawn by European Jews from such findings, on the grounds that, for a change, a different minority has been singled out for aspersion? Alas, there is none. For a variety of reasons and out of a variety of motives—one might list among them the upsurge of an undifferentiated European xenophobia, combined in this case with a felt need to deflect the fear and resentment of Muslims onto an easier target— many ethnic French, Germans, and other Europeans are now of the opinion that Judaism, too, is an alien creed, and must be duly countered or curtailed. In surveys, they point to external similarities between Jews and Muslims: related Semitic languages, insistence on ritually processed food and ritual slaughtering, circumcision, and gender separation. Two-fifths of Britons and up to three-quarters of Germans now oppose circumcision. Last year, after a medical mishap involving a Muslim circumcision, a German court banned the practice altogether for minors; it took parliamentary action to make it legal again.

Ritual slaughtering, kosher as well as hallal, is likewise under threat in Europe. Almost three-quarters of Frenchmen disapprove of it, and almost one-half of Britons advocate a complete ban. Indeed, the practice is already prohibited in five European countries. The most recent to join the ranks is Poland where, only a few months ago, a sparkling new Museum of the History of the Polish Jews opened to great acclaim in Warsaw. “When [Poles and Jews] look in the same direction,” gushed a Polish Jewish businessman at the lavish inauguration ceremonies, “it’s great for [Jews], great for Poland, and great for the world.” Now, in a bitter irony that Samuel Sandler would recognize and appreciate, Poland has effectively banned the production of kosher meat.

Some political figures have rushed to condone and encourage these developments. Last year, François Fillon, the prime minister of France in the conservative Nicolas Sarkozy administration, urged both Muslims and Jews to renounce “ancestral traditions with not much meaning nowadays,” like kosher and hallal slaughtering. Marine Le Pen, the leader of the far-right National Front, who came in third in the 2012 French presidential race, suggested in Le Monde that both the Islamic female veil and the Jewish male kippah (yarmulke) should be banned in public. In a TV interview on the same day, she conceded that the kippah is “not a problem” in France, but pressed Jews to adjust to its banning anyway as “a small sacrifice” since “laws must apply to all.”

But evenhandedness in these matters is absurd, and wholly unjust. Punctiliousness in ritual observance is far more central to traditional Judaism than to Islam, and there are already many instances where, as the researcher Dov Maimon has detailed, the religious rights of Jews have been set aside by European governments. Above all, putting Jews in the same category as Muslims in order to appear evenhanded requires pretending that they are two of a kind when it comes to the problems each presents to civic and social life in Europe, to democracy, and to Western values. This way lies surrender to blackmail and, eventually, conflict without end.

Even worse scenarios may be contemplated. Real life is often circular: the farther you travel in one direction, the closer you come to those traveling in the opposite direction. What about a nightmare fusion, at some point in the future, of an anti-Semitic Left, an anti-Semitic Right, and an anti-Semitic Islam? In the case of France, there are ominous precedents: many Frenchmen who started out as fierce anti-German patriots in the late-19th century ended as pro-German activists or collaborationists in the 1930s and early 40s. “Better Hitler than Blum,” went a slogan of French pro-German appeasers at the time of Munich (the reference was to Léon Blum, a Jew and then the socialist prime minister of France). Many right-wingers might feel closer today to the stern creed of Islam than to either Zionism, globalism, or the flaccid morals of liberal democracy.

Alternatively, many prewar left-wing anti-racists and philo-Semites were eventually seduced by Hitler’s “socialist” credentials, and accepted anti-Semitism as part of the package. Following the same pattern, today’s European Left and far Left tend to cultivate Muslim voters at any cost in order to gain an edge over the Right. And indeed, in the 2012 presidential and parliamentary elections, 86 percent of French Muslims voted for the Left, probably enough to ensure a win in both races. In another exquisite irony, a cottage industry of European academics and intellectuals has taken to promoting Muslims as Europe’s “new Jews” and indicting present-day Jews for betraying their “universalist” mission on earth by “regressing” to a reactionary ethnocentrism.

As for Muslim anti-Semitism, it has been intimately connected with classic European anti-Semitism for more than a century, and has massively borrowed the latter’s doctrines and tropes, from the blood libel to Holocaust denial to the crazed conspiracy-mongering of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. The two brands share a common language, and each sees in the other a mirror image of itself. Much money has also circulated between them. Just as fascist and Nazi funds helped Arab and Iranian anti-Jewish activists in the past, so Arab and Iranian money has been lavished on all stripes of European anti-Semites in our time....'

European Jewish Congress Calls On European Muslim Leaders To Counter Antisemitic Attacks

Different times, different culprits
Back in March, in a post illustrated with a photo of damage to one of over 30 Jewish graves desecrated in Nice, the French blogger Deborah Coen, having noted the attacks on Jews in France that had occurred in the immediate aftermath of the Toulouse tragedy, suggested that aliya might be the safest option for French Jewry:
"Si la police fait de son mieux pour combattre ce phénomène, les Juifs de France n’ont plus qu’une seule question à se poser : vaut-il mieux risquer sa vie en France ou partir vivre des jours assurément meilleurs sous le soleil de Jérusalem ?"
Now, it's reported that antisemitic attacks in France have soared still further.

A video relating to a vicious attack on three Jewish teenagers in Lyon on Sunday was here but is "currently unavailable"
.
However, it can be seen on CiF Watch

We're told:
'Israel expressed its “profound concern” on Monday following last Saturday's anti-Semitic attack against three youths in Villeurbanne, in southeastern France, stressing it was confident the French authorities would shed light on the facts, according to a statement from its ambassador to Paris. The Israeli ambassador to Paris expresses his profound concern in the face of Saturday’s attack on three Jews in Villeurbanne. These three people wore a kippa (Jewish skullcap) on their heads. It would seem that such violent attacks on French citizens of Jewish origin are brought about solely because of their ethnicity,” read a statement from his office.
The three Jewish victims were attacked on Saturday night in Villeurbanne, a suburb of Lyon, by about ten individuals who struck them with hammers and iron bars.
The police confirmed that all three were briefly hospitalised. One of the victims suffered an open wound to the skull, and another suffered an injury to the neck, according to the Ministry of the Interior, who denounced the act as “extremely serious” and “of a religious nature”.
The National Bureau of Vigilance Against Anti-Semitism said the attackers were of North African origin.' Read more here
True to form, the BBC has so far proved reluctant to report the Lyon attack, and indeed most others, though in March it did acknowledge some

Meanwhile, the European Jewish Congress (EJC) has called on European imams and Muslim leaders to denounce unequivocally the recent attack in Lyon and to strive to prevent other attacks on Jews elsewhere.  Says EJC president Moshe Kantor:
"Unfortunately, there are mosques and Muslim centers in Europe where people are taught that Jews are the enemy and they should be attacked.
There is mounting documented evidence of this and in addition to calling on the law enforcement agencies to clamp down on incitement we are also calling on Imams and Muslim leaders to become part of the solution and unequivocally condemn attacks against their fellow European citizens.
I have frequent meetings and ongoing deliberations with European political leaders to discuss enforcement of existing laws and other legal issues relating to anti-Semitic attacks, but I would also welcome the opportunity to meet with my counterparts in the European Muslim community to discuss how to combat hatred, intolerance and incitement so Jews can feel safe again in various cities and towns across the continent.
It is in all of our interests that outside conflicts are not imported to the European continent and used as an excuse for anti-Semitic attacks."  Read more here
