Thanks to the readers and commenters who have supported this blog over the past ten years. Regular readers from the United States and Israel, from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Russia, the Ukraine, Romania, and many other countries besides, including, intriguingly and flatteringly, a regular visitor from a certain Arab state, I thank you all, and wish you all well. You, and the State of Israel.<br />

This blog began in June 2010, in the wake of the <i>Mavi Marmara</i> incident and the exponential rise in antisemitism that followed in its wake. I've posted a number of pieces on historical facets of Israel and Zionism, including several pertaining to the origins of the overt anti-Israel bias of the BBC, <a href="http://isthebbcbiased.blogspot.com/2017/06/the-bbcs-entrenched-bias-against-israel.html"><u><b>identifying the late Keith Kyle</b></u></a> as the first of that particular tribe. These historical posts were the ones I particularly enjoyed, and which I feel were the most useful. Some have been reprised on the Jews Down Under website, and others can still be found archived on the Elder of Ziyon blog (sincere thanks to the famed Elder for having invited me to contribute those guest posts).<br />

Having an interest in Jewish-Christian relations, and mindful that if it had not been for a Jew who lived some 2000 years ago there would be no such profession as Christian priest I've exposed the excesses of the Reverend Stephen Sizer, and was the person who took this notorious 9/11 screenshot that went viral (thanks to the UK <i>Jewish News</i>, to whose editor I emailed it after a reporter from the "Voice of Anglo-Jewry", the <i>Jewish Chronicle</i>, had informed me that they had no interest in it!) Shame on you, <i>JC</i> reporter. (You know who you are).<br />

It goes without saying that we who love Israel must be ever vigilant
regarding the mendacious propaganda of the New Israel Fund and similar
groups, the equation of "Islamophobia" with antisemitism, the Islamic antisemitism infiltrating the West, the leftist propaganda of the ABC and the BBC, and the increasing hostility towards
Israel of often unashamedly antisemitic
propagandists in academia.<br />

Once, fairly early in my blogging career, I was threatened, via a high-powered lawyer, with a
libel suit by an anti-Israel senior academic at a British campus,
despite the fact that I had provided links to all the statements I
attributed to that particular expatriate Israeli. Intimidated, I removed the post. I doubt the redoubtable <a href="http://david-collier.com/"><u><b>David Collier</b></u></a>, who has since taken the pro-Israel blogosphere by storm, would have done so. <br />
<br />
The campus warfare against Israel is, needless to say, vicious and growing. I've focused from time to time on the appalling anti-Israel propaganda on certain campuses, especially at Swarthmore College, where an assistant professor committed to replacing Israel with a bi-national state teaches peace and conflict studies and takes students on annual propaganda visits to Israel and the disputed territories.<br />

So, keen to concentrate instead on historical studies that I've all but neglected., I'm ceasing this blog, and this final day of this month (and foreshadowed changes to the Blogger platform that I don't much like) seems a good time to bring it to a close.<br />

Jordan’s Prime Minister Omar Razzaz has made a welcome intervention to resolve the issue of<br />sovereignty in Judea and Samaria (aka West Bank).<br />
<br />Razzaz’s offer comes as Israel readies to restore Jewish sovereignty in 30% of Judea and Samaria<br />after an absence of 3000 years – as promulgated by the 1922 League of Nations Mandate for<br />Palestine and article 80 of the UN Charter – and detailed in President Trump’s <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Peace-to-Prosperity-0120.pdf"><u><b>deal of the century</b></u></a>.<br /><br />
Razzaz has raised the possibility of a “one-state solution” to replace the “two-state solution”:<br />

<i><b>“We are against unilateral actions. We are against annexation. We are against any steps</b></i><i><b> that are not within an overall scheme that leads to a two-state solution. Short of that, if</b></i><i><b> we’re not going towards a two-state solution, let us know what we’re going towards,</b></i><i><b> what kind of one-state solution we’re going towards.”</b></i></blockquote>
The “two-state solution” favoured by the international community for the last 40 years – creating an<br />independent State of Palestine between Israel and Jordan – has long passed its anticipated birth<br />date. The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-51292865"><u><b>refusal</b></u></a> to sit down with Israel to negotiate<br />creating such a State in Gaza and 70% of Judea and Samaria – as detailed in <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Peace-to-Prosperity-0120.pdf"><u><b>Trump’s Plan</b></u></a> – is the<br />final nail in the coffin for an unattainable solution first aired by the 1980 <a href="https://ecf.org.il/media_items/1476"><u><b>Venice Declaration</b></u></a>.<br />
<br />Razzaz should consider going towards the “Jordan one-state solution” that existed between 1948<br />and 1967 – after Transjordan:<br />

Razzaz lays down three conditions for any “one-state solution”:<br />

<i><b> </b></i>The late King Hussein of Jordan – writing in <i>Uneasy lies the Head</i> (p.82) stated:<br />

<i><b>“Palestine and Jordan were both under the British Mandate, but as my grandfather pointed out in his memoirs they were hardly separate countries. Trans-Jordan being to the east of the river Jordan, it formed in a sense, the interior of Palestine”</b></i></blockquote>
Razzaz and Netanyahu need to start a dialogue to bring the “Jordan one-state solution” to fruition and end the 100 years old Arab-Jewish conflict.<br />

University in Massachusetts, Sa'ed Adel Atshan, an adviser to the
campus Students for Justice in Palestine, and now a tenured assistant
professor at his alma mater, Swarthmore College, Pennsylvania, took part

In 2018, as <a href="https://www.jpost.com/Diaspora/Israels-ambassador-convinces-Berlins-Jewish-Museum-to-cancel-BDS-speaker-563220"><u><b>reported</b></u></a> in the <i>Jerusalem Post</i>
by Benjamin Weinthal, a talk entitled “On Being Queer and Palestinian
in East-Jerusalem” that Atshan was due to give at the Berlin Jewish
Museum as part of the museum’s ongoing exhibit “Welcome to Jerusalem”
was cancelled following protests, the Israeli Ambassador to Germany
telling a Munich newspaper that <b><i>“Atshan is very closely connected with BDS" </i></b>and <b><i>“is not a person who wishes to build bridges of
understanding with Israel” </i></b><br />
<br />
The <i>Swarthmore Bulletin</i>, meant for the noted liberal arts
college's alumni, is published quarterly. This year's most recent
(April) issue consists of 80 pages. The first 48 pages are occupied by
feature articles, the final 32 by class notes.<br />
Fully
ten pages of the features section (an inordinate number in comparison to
the remainder of the articles) is devoted to an international conflict,
and that conflict is -- yes, you've guessed it. This is not the first
time that Atshan's propaganda has infiltrated the <i>Bulletin</i>,
and I fear that it will not be the last. Indeed, no article sympathetic to Israel has ever been published in the magazine.<br />
<br />
The latest anti-Israel piece, written by Alisa Giardinelli, focuses on a Study Tour of "the Holy Land" led by Atshan during the past academic year, the latest of several he has undertaken since being appointed to the college staff, and the most-subscribed tour to date.<br />
<br />
Adulatory of Atshan, Giardinelli's article is headed <i>"Empathy & Exploration; This journey to the Holy Land offers immersive lessons in understanding conflict"</i>, and in it we read such passages as the following:<br />

with two books forthcoming this spring, Queer Palestine and the Empire
of Critique and The Moral Triangle: Germans, Israelis, Palestinians, and

to continue his scholarship and teaching has never been stronger" </i></b></blockquote>
Beneath the subheading <i>"Gaza"</i>:<i> </i><br />

would be as close as civilians could get to the Israel-Gaza border.

Gaza City. As the group stood next to a military range tower with shell
casings underfoot, it was just about sunset. <b>Then the call to
prayer sounded. The group stood in rapt silence, mesmerized by the
gorgeous sky, the deep, lyrical tones, and the knowledge that, while
separated by an electric fence less than 100 yards away, they shared
this scene with the 2 million residents in this blockaded strip of land.</b>
A short burst of distant but distinct automatic gunfire broke the
reverie. Everyone quickly returned to the bus." </i><i><br /></i></blockquote>
In the caption of an accompanying photo taken by Giardinelli she tells us:<br />

group outside a West Bank village. Nancy Yuan ’20, who was born in
China and raised in New Zealand, says she appreciated the trip’s many
vantage points ... says <i>“And since the
plight faced by Palestinian refugees is so protracted, I thought if I
don’t take this class, I might miss the chance to grasp what is
happening in this multifaceted conflict.” </i></blockquote>
Layan Shaban, a Haverford student who went on the tour, whose brotjher Ahmad ('19), who took Atshan's class <i>"a couple of years ago but did not go on the trip"</i>, explains:<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i>“My
dad wouldn’t let him,” she says, citing her father’s concerns about how
an Arab would be treated in Israel. “I also wanted to strengthen my
Palestinian identity. I think I’m getting there.”</i></blockquote>
Beneath the subheading <i>Sderot</i>:<br />

<i>“I’ve been closer to death as a student here than as a
soldier on the Gaza border,” says Dar Cohen, 27, from the Sderot Media
Center... The
Swarthmore group stood with him outside the city’s police station.
There, stacked against a wall, were remnants of some of the many rockets
that had been launched indiscriminately into the city from Gaza, less
than a mile away. Although they fall far less frequently than they did
10 years ago, he says the most recent fell less than two weeks before
this visit..."</i></blockquote>

Regarding Hebron:<br />

checks and other security measures that a lot of other classmates are
having to deal with,”</b> Max Katz-Balmes ’20 says after an incident in
Hebron. <b>“If I’m feeling uncomfortable, as one of the people with the
most privilege, I can’t imagine what they’re going through.”</b></i></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i>.... For most students, the frequent presence of armed Israeli
soldiers — on the streets of Hebron, in a lounge in Ashkelon’s Sapir
College, even briefly on the bus crossing a checkpoint — was a new, and
unsettling, sight.</i></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i>“Speaking from my perspective and my
community, weapons do not make us feel safe at all,” says Etienne, the
sophomore from Miami. “So l<b>earning that for a majority of the [Jewish
Israeli] population, Mizrahi or Ashkenazi, weapons make them feel safe —
that’s genuinely something that I don’t understand.”...</b>' </i></blockquote>
In Lifta an old man, Yacoub Odeh, told the student group <i><b>“That was my house”</b>:</i><br />

in what had been Lifta’s central plaza, Yacoub Odeh, 79, pointed past a
tree and up to the ruin of a modest stone structure that still clung to
the side of the hill. It was one of about 50 that together were all
that remain of what had been, until 1948, a vibrant Palestinian village
on the outskirts of Jerusalem.</i></b></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<b><i>On this Sunday, Odeh led
a tour through the village’s overgrown paths, past groups of male
teenagers who also gathered there, in what is now a nature reserve.
Along the way, Odeh spoke of a future in which everyone — Christian,
Jewish, Muslim — could live together, “as our grandfathers did.”</i></b></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i>“That
was a very moving experience,” says Robert Zigmund ’21, a philosophy
and peace & conflict studies major from Glenside, Pa.,
“especially with the contrast of walking past the remains of the houses

Note how that old man's vision dovetails with Atshan's professed vision of a binational state in Israel's place. Surely it does not take an average Swarthmore IQ to foresee the likely demographic and religious consequences of such a state.<br />

President Trump’s vision for the creation of a democratic Palestinian
State in Gaza and 70% of Judea and Samaria under his <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trump_peace_plan"><u><b>Peace to Prosperity Plan</b></u></a><a href="https://www.blogger.com/null"> </a>(Trump Plan) – is a futile exercise doomed to failure.<br />
<br />
The Trump Plan <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Peace-to-Prosperity-0120.pdf"><u><b>defines</b></u></a> the proposed <em>“State of Palestine”</em> [page 1] in these specific terms:<br />
<blockquote>
<strong><em>STATE OF PALESTINE: Throughout the Vision,
the term “State of Palestine” refers to a future state, not currently in
existence that could be recognized by the United States only if the
criteria described in this Vision are satisfactorily met. </em></strong></blockquote>
The prescribed criteria are:<br />
<blockquote>
<strong><em>“a predicate to the formation of a
Palestinian State and must be determined to have occurred by the State
of Israel and the United States, jointly, acting in good faith, after
consultation with the Palestinian Authority”</em></strong> [page 34]</blockquote>
The <em>“Palestinian Authority”</em> no longer exists under that name – having been renamed the <em>“State of Palestine”</em> pursuant to a <b><a href="https://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinion/2013/01/20131810252183781.html">written decree</a></b> issued by PLO Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on 3 January 2013. This name-change enabled the UN Secretary-General to <b><a href="https://unispal.un.org/DPA/DPR/unispal.nsf/0/0DFE97DB5A9A633185257B2D004943A7">inform</a></b> the General Assembly on 13 January 2013:<br />
<blockquote>
<strong><em>“On 8 January 2013, Palestine informed the
Secretary-General that the Head of Government was Salam Fayyad, Prime
Minister of the State of Palestine, and that the Minister for Foreign
Affairs of the State of Palestine was Riad Malki. In accordance with its
request, the designation “State of Palestine” is now used in all
documents of the United Nations and on nameplates to be used in United
Nations meetings. Mr. Abbas is now addressed as the President of the
State of Palestine, Mr. Fayyad as the Prime Minister of the State of
Palestine and Mr. Malki as the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State
of Palestine.”</em></strong></blockquote>
Even the <em>“Palestinians” </em>remain undefined in the Trump Plan.<br />
<br />
These fictitious flights into semantic fantasyland will require the United States and Israel to consult with ghosts.<br />
<br />
The criteria for recognizing the <em>State of Palestine</em> include <em>“the Palestinians”</em> having:<br />
<ul>
<li>Implemented a governing system that provides for freedom of the
press, free and fair elections, respect for human rights for its
citizens, protections for religious freedom and for religious minorities
to observe their faith</li>
<li>Appropriate governance in place to prevent corruption</li>
<li>Ended all programs, including school curricula and textbooks, that
serve to incite or promote hatred or antagonism towards its neighbours,
or which compensate or incentivize criminal or violent activity.</li>
<li>Achieved civilian and law enforcement control over all of its territory and demilitarized its population.</li>
</ul>
The omens aren’t good according to the <b><a href="https://www.hrw.org/world-report/2020/country-chapters/israel/palestine">Human Rights Watch 2020 Report</a></b>:<br />
<ul>
<li>Palestinian armed groups in Gaza fired 1,378 rockets towards Israel 1 January 2019 – 19 November 2019</li>
<li>Between January 2018 and March 2019, Hamas detained 66 people for
social media posts or for allegedly violating broadly worded offences
such as <em>“harming revolutionary unity”</em> and <em>“misuse of technology”</em> used to punish peaceful dissent or opposition.</li>
<li>Hamas authorities detained more than 1,000 Palestinians during March 2019 demonstrations against the high cost of living.</li>
<li>Laws in Gaza punish <em>“unnatural intercourse”</em> of a sexual nature, understood to include same-sex relationships, with up to 10 years in prison.</li>
<li>Between January 2018 and March 2019, 1,609 persons were detained in the West Bank for insulting <em>“higher authorities” </em>and creating <em>“sectarian strife,”</em> and 752 for social media posts.</li>
<li>There is no comprehensive domestic violence law preventing abuse and protecting survivors.</li>
</ul>
Free and fair elections in the West Bank and Gaza have not been held since 2006.<br />
Trump has given the <em>“Palestinians”</em> <b><a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/remarks-president-trump-prime-minister-netanyahu-state-israel-joint-statements/">four years</a></b>
to replace the current two autocratic Jew-hating regimes with a
democratic Palestinian State. Trump’s vision seems destined to end up
in the garbage bin of history.<br />

Few lovers of Israel can be unaware of Peter Beinart's <a href="https://jewishcurrents.org/yavne-a-jewish-case-for-equality-in-israel-palestine/"><u><b> advocacy of the replacement of Israel with a One State Solution</b></u></a> encompassing both Jews and Palestinians.<br />

Recently the self-promoting Mr Beinart has been discussing his vision with, among others, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadi_Hamid"><u><b>Shadi Hamid</b></u></a> and <a href="https://www.the-american-interest.com/v/damir-marusic/"><b>Damir Marusic</b></a>, as heard here. That's the same Shadi Hamid, author of the book <i>Islamic Exceptionalism: How the Struggle over Islam is Reshaping the World</i>, who <a href="https://time.com/4353838/islamic-exceptionalism/"><u><b>has reminded us</b></u></a> that<br />

<i>'Islam, in both theory and practice, is “exceptional” in how it
relates to politics. Because of its outsize role in law and governance,
Islam has been—and will continue to be—resistant to secularization....</i><em></em></blockquote>

<em>Two factors worth emphasizing: First, the
“founding moment” of Islam looms large. Unlike Jesus Christ, the Prophet
Muhammad was a theologian, a preacher, a warrior and a politician, all
at once. He was also the leader and builder of a new state, capturing,
holding and governing new territory. Religious and political functions,
at least for the believer, were no accident. They were meant to be intertwined in the leadership of one man.</em></blockquote>

As Professor Alan Dershowitz says (see below) Beinart's Solution would lead to a demographic war, which the Jews would lose, and which would result in a Muslim state governed by Sharia Law.<br />

Beinart has now removed the mask of a "Zionist", enabling all but the most Quislingesque or the most wilfully blind to drop the blinkers from their eyes. To quote one succinct critic of his on social media:<br />

Britain – the architectof the San Remo Resolution and Treaty of Sevres in 1920 that led to the League of Nations Mandate for Palestine in 1922 – has yet again shamefully betrayed the Jewish People by <a href="https://www.ynetnews.com/article/ByU0qpOA8"><u><b>warning</b></u></a> Israel not to extend its sovereignty into Judea and Samaria.<br />
<br />
Britain’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson has <a href="https://www.ynetnews.com/article/ByU0qpOA8"><u><b>told</b></u></a> Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that any such action would be in violation of international law – which Netanyahu <a href="https://www.gov.il/en/departments/news/spoke_macron100720"><u><b>disputes</b></u></a> – despite the Mandate vesting in the Jewish People the right to “close settlement” in Judea and Samaria for the purposes of reconstituting the biblical Jewish National Home in what had been the heartland of the Jewish People 3000 years ago.<br />
<br />
Britain had betrayed the Jewish People in 1950 after all the Jews living in Judea and Samaria had been ethnically cleansed by the invading Arab army of Transjordan in 1948. Britain – supported only by Pakistan and Iraq – recognised Transjordan’s illegal annexation of Judea and Samaria, the renaming of the newly merged entityas “Jordan”whilst “Judea and Samaria”was renamed“West Bank”.<br />
<br />
Johnson <a href="https://www.ynetnews.com/article/ByU0qpOA8"><u><b>told</b></u></a> Netanyahu:<br />

<i><b>"I am immensely proud of the UK’s contribution to the birth of Israel with the 1917 Balfour Declaration. But it will remain unfinished business until there is a solution which provides justice and lasting peace for both Israelis and Palestinians. </b></i></blockquote>

<i><b>The only way it can be achieved is for both sides to return to the negotiating table. That must be our goal. Annexation would only take us further away from it."</b></i></blockquote>
Peace for both “Israelis” and “Palestinians”?<br />
<br />
Neither existed until 1948 and 1964.<br />
<br />
There were only <i><b>“Arabs”</b></i> and <i><b>“Jews”</b></i> in 1917. The Arab residents of Palestine then comprised part of “the existing non-Jewish communities”.<br />
<br />
Johnson seems apparently unaware that the <i><b>“Palestinians”</b></i>:<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
• were defined for the first time in recorded history by <a href="https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/the-original-palestine-national-charter-1964"><u><b>article 6</b></u></a> of the 1964 PLO Charter</blockquote>

• did not claim “regional sovereignty in the West Bank in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan”or“on the Gaza Strip” under <a href="https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/the-original-palestine-national-charter-1964"><u><b>article 24</b></u></a></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
• were Jordanian citizens between 1954 and1988. </blockquote>
Johnson’s warning to Israel is the complete antithesis of what he wrote on 29 October 2017 as Foreign Minister – ahead of the Balfour Declaration centenary on 2 November:<i><b> </b></i><br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i><b>“I have no doubt that the only viable solution to the conflict resembles the one first set down on paper by another Briton, Lord Peel, in the report of the Royal Commission on Palestine in 1937, and that is the vision of two states for two peoples.”</b></i> </blockquote>
The Royal Commission was authorised by <a href="https://unispal.un.org/pdfs/Cmd5479.pdf"><u><b>Royal Warrant dated 7 August 1936</b></u></a> which did not mention the <i><b>“Palestinians”</b></i> – only naming two parties – the <i><b>“Arabs”</b></i> and the <i><b>“Jews”</b></i> – not three – as disputants.<br />
<br />
The Peel Commission after a lengthy and detailed Inquiry concluded that:<br />

<i><b>“two sovereign independent States would be established – the one an Arab State, consisting of Trans-Jordan united with that part of Palestine which lies to the east and south of a frontier such as we suggest in [the map] below; the other a Jewish State consisting of that part of Palestine which lies to the north and west of that frontier.”</b></i></blockquote>
The Arabs rejected this decision.<br />

The Jews disputed the boundaries.<br />

Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria however was to be facilitated and encouraged under <a href="https://avalon.law.yale.edu/20th_century/palmanda.asp"><u><b>article 6</b></u></a>.<br />

The PLO’s <a href="https://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Peace-group-Joint-List-slam-Deal-of-the-Century-615711"><u><b>outright refusal</b></u></a> to negotiate with Israel on <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Peace-to-Prosperity-0120.pdf"><u><b>President Trump’s Peace Plan</b></u></a> strengthens Netanyahu’s decision to restore Jewish sovereignty in 30% of Judea and Samaria after 3000 years. Johnson’s hypocritical posturing should reinforce – not weaken – Netanyahu’s resolve.<br />

That's just one of the glaring canards contained in a <a href="https://overland.org.au/2020/07/statement-artists-and-academics-against-annexation/"><u><b>recent statement</b></u></a> (drafted by poet Sara M. Saleh along with academics Dr Micaela Sahhar and Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah) signed by innumerable Australian academics, artists and activists, well-known and obscure, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, Muslim and non-Muslim, that appears in the radical left Australian literary journal <i>Overland</i>, created in 1954.<br />
<br />
Signatories include academics Linda Briskman, Bassam Dally, John Docker and his son Ned Curthoys, Ann E. Fink, Gary Foley, Ghassan Hage, Jake Lynch, Peter Manning, Stuart Rees, Nick Riemer, Peter Slezak, and Marcelo Svirsky; broadcaster and writer Yassmin Abdel-Magied; feminist Sara Dowse; playwright Samah Sabawi, journalist Maher Mughrabi (features editor, <i>The Age </i>newspaper), and poet Sunniya Wajahat.<br />

Bizarrely, one high profile signatory, ABC and BBC media favourite Ms Abdel-Magied, who should need no introduction to most readers (see <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yassmin_Abdel-Magied"><b>here</b></a>

Most of the signatories' names will be instantly recognisable to watchers of anti-Israel initiatives in Australia. If not, googling should pay dividends. It certainly did for me in the case of Susan Stryker, an American gender studies professor in the United States who, it turns out, is not currently based here but was a visiting professor on an Australia campus in 2004.<br />

The statement, inter alia (emphasis added):<br />

<i><b> ".... The State of Israel was created on stolen land 72 years ago. Its
illegal military occupation of the West Bank – which imposes a punitive
legal system on Palestinians in contrast to their Israeli settler
counterparts, who enjoy the rights of full Israeli citizens – has been
ongoing for 53 years. Throughout this time, Israel has continued to
commit war crimes in breach of the Geneva Conventions, and to violate
the most basic of Palestinian human rights, ultimately denying
Palestinians the right to be sovereign in their own homeland.</b></i></blockquote>

<i><b>Israel’s annexation plan will cement the apartheid reality that
currently exists. It confines Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza
within 115 bantustans that are physically, economically, socially, and

transfer, home demolitions, settler violence, severe and discriminatory
restrictions on their right to freedom of movement, excessive use of
force, torture, and a racist legal system and state apparatus which
explicitly operates by granting preferential political, legal, social,
cultural and economic rights to Israeli Jews ....</b></i></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i><b>We draw great inspiration from current global justice movements
committed to the eradication of racism, fascism, imperialism, and
apartheid — a collective and intersectional emancipatory process of
decolonisation. As iconic civil rights campaigner Angela Davis writes,
“When we are engaged in the struggle against racist violence…we can’t
forget the connections with Palestine. In many ways, we have to engage
in an exercise of intersectionality. Of always foregrounding those
connections so that people remember that nothing happens in isolation.”
As Davis makes clear, an unequivocal stance against all forms of racial
oppression must include support of Palestinians.</b></i></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i><b>From Minneapolis to Jerusalem to Gadigal land, all sites of recent
state-sanctioned violence, we affirm the critical ongoing and historic
solidarities between different movements against systemic and
institutionalised state violence, systemic oppression, and brutality.
Palestinians in Australia are positioned as settlers of colour and have
proudly sought and affirmed solidarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander peoples in our indivisible anti-colonial struggles....'</b></i></blockquote>
Coming hot on the heels of that statement in Overland is <a href="https://overland.org.au/2020/07/fighting-against-a-racists-peace-what-it-means-to-oppose-annexation/"><b>this piece</b></a> in the same magazine. By postgraduate student Tasnim Mahmoud Sammak, it evidently seeks a One State Solution, entailing the elimination of Israel, as the following extracts [emphasis added] indicate: <br /><blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i><b>"It wasn’t long ago, in December of 2018, that Scott Morrison recognised West Jerusalem as Israel’s capital while holding back on moving the Australian embassy from Tel Aviv (my colonised home city of Yaffa) to West Jerusalem. The move made Australia the only western nation to follow the United States in in supporting the expansion of the Zionist settler-colonial project across internationally-recognised Palestinian land</b></i><b> ....</b></blockquote>

<i><b>As a Palestinian, I consider it an insult that Western politicians summon the two-state solution in our support as though it were anything but a position of forced surrender.... </b><b></b></i></blockquote>

<i><b>This lip-service to two-state solution is the premise for opposing the annexation across political parties in Australia. This includes the Greens, in spite of their more sympathetic record to Palestinian rights.... </b></i></blockquote>

<i><b>The Palestinian struggle is connected to the global BLM movement through an interlinked vision to dismantle racist settler-colonial structures and systems.... </b></i></blockquote>

<i><b>As Palestinians, we have suffered the consequences of the legitimisation of Zionism as a settler-colonial, ethno-nationalist project.... </b></i></blockquote>

<i><b>We should demand that our global protest against annexation be tied to our imaginaries </b>[sic] <u><b>of </b></u><b>a Free Palestine. Committing to anything less is a racist’s peace and a racist’s justice.</b></i></blockquote>

<i><b>It is not enough to expect pro-Palestinians to accept the utterance of words of support against annexation from politicians supporting Orwellian peace agreements. The time for feigned pro-Palestinian support should be over. Genuine support for the Palestinian struggle demands opposition to Israeli settler colonisation itself</b></i>."</blockquote>
It appears, since images of their logos (along with those of certain private bodies) appear at the base of its website, that Overland receives financial support from the Australian Government, from Creative Victoria (an agency of the Victorian state government), from the Melbourne City Council, and from the Australia Council for the Arts. These four bodies are financed by the Australian taxpayer, including Jewish taxpayers. It is outrageous that taxpayers' money should be used to finance a magazine that publishes material opposing the existence of the state of Israel and which publishes material that is arguably antisemitic. be excused for being completely confused as to whether Israel’s
proposed application of sovereignty in Judea and Samaria constitutes
“annexation” or “restoring Jewish sovereignty” in the Jewish people’s
biblical heartland after 3000 years.<br />

There is a big difference – as College Principal Rabbi Yehoshua Smukler’s article <b><a href="https://moriahcollegeblog.com/2020/06/30/the-myth-of-israeli-annexation/"><i>“The myth of Israeli annexation”</i></a></b> informed Moriah students:<br />

Jewish schoolchildren should be focusing on Jewish sovereignty in

The United Nations is disgracefully <b><a href="https://news.un.org/en/story/2020/06/1066972">trying</a></b>
to prevent a miracle happening 100 years after the world first gave its
historic imprimatur to an impossible dream becoming a possible reality:<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>The restoration of Jewish sovereignty in 1697km² [square kilometres] of the Jewish People’s biblical heartland in Judea and Samaria (West Bank).<br />
<br />
The defeat of the 400 years-old Ottoman Empire in World War One revived
the Jewish People’s 3000-years-old dream of regaining nationhood in
their ancient homeland – which had extended across both banks of the
River Jordan where the twelve tribes of Israel had finally settled 40
years after their exodus from Egypt.<br />
<br />
The <b><a href="https://eipa.eu.com/category/information-centre/history-independence/san-remo-resolution-of-1920/">San Remo Resolution</a></b> signed by Great Britain, France, Japan and Italy on 25 April 1920 promised the Jews real hope.<br />
<br />
The <b><a href="https://wwi.lib.byu.edu/index.php/Section_I,_Articles_1_-_260">Treaty of Sevres</a></b> involving the international community quickly followed on 10 August 1920.<br />
The British Empire, France, Italy and Japan (“Principal Allied
Powers”) were joined by Armenia, Belgium, Greece, the Hedjaz, Poland
Portugal, Roumania, the Serb-Croat Slovene State and Czecho-Slovakia
(“Allied Powers”) in this peace treaty signed with Turkey.<br />
<br />
Signatories for the British Empire were representatives of:<br />
<ul>
<li>His Majesty the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></li>
<li>The Dominion of Canada</li>
<li>The Commonwealth of Australia</li>
<li>The Dominion of New Zealand</li>
<li>The Union of South Africa</li>
<li>India</li>
</ul>
Article 95 provided that Palestine – within such boundaries as might
be determined by the Principal Allied Powers – be administered by a
Mandatory to be selected by them. The Mandatory was to be responsible
for putting into effect the Balfour Declaration made on 2 November 1917, by the British Government – and adopted by the Allied Powers – in
favour of the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the
Jewish people – it being clearly understood that nothing would be done
which might prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing
non-Jewish communities in Palestine – or the rights and political status
enjoyed by Jews in any other country.<br />
<br />
The League of Nations' 51 member states unanimously appointed Britain
as Mandatory and approved the terms of the Mandate for Palestine on 24
July 1922.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br />
<br />
Intervening political events in Syria between 1920 and 1922 involving
France and Britain saw the Mandate’s provisions deny the Jewish People
the right to reconstitute the Jewish National Home on the East Bank of
the Jordan River where two and a half of the twelve tribes had settled
after reaching the Promised Land.<br />
<br />
Judea and Samaria were reserved however for the Jews under the
Mandate – that right being preserved under article 80 of the 1945 United
Nations Charter notwithstanding the demise of the League of Nations in
1946.<br />
<br />
After Britain handed its Mandate back to the United Nations in 1948 –
every Jew living in Judea and Samaria was driven out by the invading
army of Transjordan which itself comprised 77% of the Mandate territory
and had achieved independence in 1946.<br />
<br />
Judea and Samaria were unified with Transjordan to become “The West
Bank in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan” from 1950 to 1967 – recognized
only by Great Britain, Iraq and Pakistan. Jordanian citizenship was
extended to all its Arab citizens from 1954 to 1988.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br />
<br />
Jordan’s loss of Judea and Samaria to Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War
saw some 450,000 Jews returning to reclaim their patrimony over the next
53 years – but the international community’s seal of approval soon
changed to outright condemnation. President Trump’s 2020 Peace Plan has
confirmed those vested legal rights acquired 1920-1922 by the Jewish
People in Judea and Samaria.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br />

Jordan has backed the PLO in rejecting President Trump’s deal of the
century – as Israel readies to regain sovereignty after 3000 years in
30% of Judea and Samaria (aka West Bank) – the biblical heartland of the
Jewish people.<br />
<br />
Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi met with
PLO President Mahmoud Abbas this week to <a href="https://www.jordantimes.com/news/local/safadi-conveys-message-king-abbas-full-jordanian-support"><u><b>confirm</b></u></a> that Jordan stood in
solidarity with the PLO against the Trump plan to create a Palestinian
State in the remaining 70%: <br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i><b>“The stance that I have carried today
is the Kingdom’s historical position: Attaining the rights of our
brothers in Palestine to freedom and a full Palestinian state with
occupied Jerusalem as its capital on the June 4, 1967 lines is the only
means to realise a just and comprehensive peace”. </b></i></blockquote>
Safadi’s statement of Jordan’s historical position was false.<br />
<br />
No
Palestinian State – “full” or otherwise – was ever contemplated during
Jordan’s illegal annexation of the West Bank between 1948 and 1967. To
the contrary Jordan extended Jordanian citizenship to all the Arab
residents of the West Bank from 1954 to 1988.<br />
<br />
Jordan’s <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/bitter-abbas-to-trump-we-reject-your-peace-deal-of-the-century/"><u><b>rejection</b></u></a>
of the Trump Plan could see Trump dealing with Jordan similarly to the
way he dealt with the PLO’s rejection of Trump’s Plan – sight unseen –
two years before its release on 28 January 2020: <br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i><b>“’We told Trump
we will not accept his project, the ‘deal of the century,’ which has
become the ‘slap of the century’. But we will slap back. </b></i></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i><b>“We do
not take instructions from anyone, and say ‘no’ to anyone if it is about
our destiny, our cause, our country and our people… 1,000 times no'” </b></i></blockquote>
Trump answered the PLO by progressively: <br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
· Recognising Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moving the US Embassy there </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
· Recognising Israeli sovereignty in the Golan Heights </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
· Cutting off funding for Palestinian refugee programs </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
· Closing down the PLO diplomatic office in Washington </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
· Confirming that the Israeli settlements in the West Bank did not contravene international law </blockquote>
Responses to Jordan’s defiant stance could see Trump: <br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
·
Agreeing to Israel extending its sovereignty beyond the 30% of the West
Bank currently contemplated in Trump’s Plan. This proposed area is in
fact only 50% of Area C - already under Israel’s complete security and
administrative control pursuant to the Oslo Accords – so there is plenty
of scope for enlarging the area of Israeli sovereignty. </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
· Reviewing existing US-Jordan security and financial agreements </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
·
Calling on Jordan to replace the PLO in negotiations with Israel to
allocate sovereignty in the remaining 70% of the West Bank between their
two respective states. </blockquote>
Jordan’s King Abdullah would find
Trump’s offer to regain a major part of “The West Bank of the Hashemite
Kingdom of Jordan 1950-1967” difficult to reject.<br />
<br />
Abdullah’s father the late King Hussein wrote in "Uneasy Lies The Head" (page 118): <br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i><b>"Palestine
and Jordan were both under the British Mandate, but as my grandfather
pointed out in his memoirs, they were hardly separate countries.
Trans-Jordan being to the east of the River Jordan, it formed in a
sense, the interior of Palestine" </b></i></blockquote>
Abdullah’s uncle Prince Hassan <a href="https://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/middle-east/1982-03-01/middle-east-jordans-quest-peace"><u><b>has written</b></u></a>: <br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i><b>"Small as Jordan is, our country is politically,
socially economically, militarily and historically inseparable from the
Palestinian issue" </b></i></blockquote>
Trump would be acting in conformity with
article 6 of the 1922 League of Nations Mandate for Palestine and
article 80 of the UN Charter which designated the West Bank as part of
the area in which the Jewish National Home was to be reconstituted.<br />
<br />
Ominously for King Abdullah however – article 2 of the <a href="https://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/middle-east/1982-03-01/middle-east-jordans-quest-peace"><u><b>PLO Charter</b></u></a> also
confirms that the West Bank and Jordan form part of one indivisible
territorial unit.<br />

Which brings me to this horrible piece of Wokism issued some days ago. To read <a href="https://urj.org/blog/2020/06/12/reform-jewish-leadership-statement-black-lives-matter-jewish-value?fbclid=IwAR3P0DiHDldGiSrR1pAymFquaXe1GgKVJzi0rP3wJa2UXfCgM7KjjGfP8e0"><u><b>this vomitous statement</b></u> </a>from the American Reform Movement is to revisit that equally vomitous slogan of crackpot radicals during the 1960s: "we are all guilty". It's not so much a call for bridge-building and compassion, which needless to say are admirable objectives, as a one-sided exercise in self-flagellation and group demonisation. <br />
<br />
"Black Lives Matter is Jewish value" the statement declares, going on to castigate "white Jews" for their collusion (more supposed than real), in keeping black Americans down. It's as if the visible Jewish presence in the Civil Rights era never happened. It's as if there are no antisemitic or anti-Israel aspects to the organised Black Lives Matter movement.<br />
<br />
Of course "Black Lives Matter", along with the lives of every human being on this earth, of whatever hue our skin happens to be. That's why many of us, Jew and non-Jew, prefer the slogan "All Lives Matter", since all of us are made in the image of our Creator: that is why the concept "All Lives Matter" can be considered a Jewish value.<br />
<br />
But try telling that to some of the politically biased bigots both in and outside the Reform movement and you risk being smeared as a racist. They should know that Judaism is not a racist religion and that Jews who harbour contempt for their fellow human beings are, fortunately, few and far between.<br />
<br />
As Rabbi Chaim Ingram of Bondi, the famous beach suburb in Australia, a man known applying sound common sense to socio-political questions andrefusing to be intimidated by leftist and "politically correct" activists has admirably stated, inter alia, in <a href="https://rabbi-ingram.com/acute-angles-is-judaism-racist/"><u><b>a recent post</b></u></a> on his blog:<br />

rampaging and looting protestors out of control and oblivious to
maintaining any semblance of complying with the laws of social
distancing that the majority populations in these cities under attack
follow, respect and obey.<br />

As this epidemic of unbridled lawlessness <b><a href="https://apnews.com/37d16fa47a8cbc13e12552eb8516cc61">spreads</a> </b>worldwide – the international community’s response to Israel’s intended application of sovereignty in 1697km<sup>2</sup> of Judea and Samaria’s 5655km<sup>2</sup> is deeply troubling.<br />

An avalanche of international opposition – led by the <b><a href="https://moderndiplomacy.eu/2019/11/23/un-israeli-settlements-remain-flagrant-violation-of-international-law/">United Nations</a></b> and<b> <a href="https://www.jordantimes.com/news/local/safadi-european-fms-talk-formulating-effective-position-against-israel-annexation-plans">European Union</a></b> – falsely claims that Israel is acting <i>“in flagrant violation of international law” – </i>ignoring:<br />

<li>The League of Nations Mandate for Palestine 1922</li>
<li>Article 80 of the United Nations Charter 1945</li>

</b> to Israeli Prime Minister Sharon on 14 April 2004 overwhelmingly

One of the latest targets of the Black Lives Matter movement has been <a href="https://www.wcvb.com/article/shaw-54th-regiment-memorial-defaced/32733306"><u><b>the memorial in Boston</b></u></a>
to the 54th Massachusetts Regiment, that band of black Civil War heroes
and their young white commander, Captain Robert Gould Shaw, whose
courage and sacrifice in the cause of human dignity and freedom was so
memorably told in the 1989 movie <i>Glory</i>.<br />

Another target, of course, has been Sir Winston Churchill's statue near the Houses of Parliament in London. For shame.<br />
<br />
Heaven help anybody who dares to suggest that a better slogan than Black Lives Matter is the inclusive All Lives Matter, which embraces every human being, or who, while conceding that his was a terrible, unconscionable way to die and that Derek Chauvin thgoroughly deserves punishment for his brutal actions, that there are worthier heroes for Afro-Americans than a career criminal such as George Floyd. If that brave and articulate black American, the estimable <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candace_Owens"><u><b>Candace Owens</b></u></a>, could not escape calumny for <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtPfoEvNJ74"><u><b>saying so</b></u></a>, what hope is there for the rest of us from demonisation as racists by political "progressives"? <br />
<br />
Is there no limit to this demented thirst for revenge against all white
people (including Jews who don't know or don't care that the Black Lives Matter movement is deeply infested with hostility towards both Jews and Israel) for the racist behaviour of some? Who, in all honesty, can deny
that much of what we are seeing is racism in reverse?<br />
<br />

<blockquote>
<strong><em>“We strongly urge Israel to refrain from any
unilateral decision that would lead to the annexation of any occupied
Palestinian territory and would be, as such, contrary to International
Law” </em></strong></blockquote>
So many false statements appearing in such a short sentence by this high-ranking EU official is breathtaking:<br />
<ol>
<li><strong>Israel’s action is not unilateral</strong></li>
</ol>
Such action is being taken in tandem with President Trump following
the outright refusal by the PLO to enter into negotiations with Israel
on the basis of Trump’s detailed plan released on 28 January 2020.<br />
<br />
70% of Judea and Samaria awaits the PLO – or any other Arab
interlocutor such as Jordan – prepared to step up and negotiate on its
future sovereignty.<br />
<ol start="2">
<li><strong>Israel will not be annexing occupied Palestinian territory contrary to international law</strong></li>
</ol>
<ul>
<li><em>“Annexing occupied Palestinian territory” </em>means taking territory belonging to someone else to which Israel has no entitlement.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><em>“Contrary to international law”: </em>Israel will be applying
sovereignty in 30% of Judea and Samaria pursuant to vested legal rights
to reconstitute the Jewish National Home in this specific area conferred
on the Jewish people by:</li>
<li>The San Remo Resolution and the Treaty of Sevres 1920</li>
<li>The League of Nations Mandate for Palestine 1922</li>
<li>Article 80 United Nations Charter 1945</li>
</ul>
The EU’s attempt to trash these existing Jewish legal rights in Judea
and Samaria is extremely disturbing – since 20 of the 27 current member
States of the EU – plus former member the United Kingdom – were among
the 51 member States of the League of Nations that had unanimously
included Judea and Samaria as part of the area in which the Jews were
entitled to reconstitute their biblical Jewish homeland after 3000
years.<br />
<br />
Article 25 of the Mandate for Palestine – approved on 24 July 1922 –
had provided for the provisions of the Mandate relating to the
establishment of the Jewish National Home to be postponed or withheld <em>“In the territories lying between the Jordan and the eastern boundary of Palestine as ultimately determined”.</em><br />
<br />
Judea and Samaria (West Bank) – was clearly being reserved for the Jewish National Home.<br />
Minutes of the Council of the League of Nations held on 16 September 1922 (below) confirmed this decision.<br />

78% of the territory of Palestine originally proposed for
reconstitution of the Jewish National Home east of the Jordan River in
1920 had thus been denied to the Jewish people by 1922 – but Judea and
Samaria clearly was not excluded.<br />
<br />
Those 20 EU member States who actually voted in favour of creating these Jewish rights in 1922 were:<br />

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland,
France, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands,
Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden</blockquote>
<a href="http://abuyehuda.com/2020/05/our-soft-enemy/">These reasons</a> help explain the EU’s strenuous opposition to Israel’s sovereignty move:

propaganda offensive of the 1960s and 70s – [Israel] can be falsely
portrayed as colonialist and racist, thus providing the Europeans a way

[Israel’s] local enemies are Muslims, providing a way for Europe to
pay jizya to its own uneasy Muslim minorities; and finally, [Israel’s]
a Jewish state – and here no further explanation is necessary.”</em></strong></blockquote>
Europe’s antipathy to Jews is becoming fashionable once again.<br />

Remember the '60s? Remember how radical lefties in America routinely dubbed police "pigs"? Well, it seems the insult may be returning, at least of this Black Lives Matter demonstrator has her way.<br />

George Floyd was a career criminal and, as <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtPfoEvNJ74"><u><b>Candace Owens</b></u></a>, herself black, has argued, not the most wortht black person to be cast as a hero in the eyes of African Americans, his death was an outrage, and his killer deserves no sympathy. <br />

Of course Black Lives Matter. But so too do all lives. Including White Lives, despire the demonisation of white people which is proceeding apace and is being abetted by radical whites themselves, and by police and politicians who participate in the sickening spectacle of bending the knee to atone for their "white privilege".<br />

It's hardly surprising that there is much anger in Australia at the holding of BLM demos in city centres today with bloody-minded disregard for social distamcing. An arrogant young (white) demonstrator even said on camera that the deaths of a few hundred people from Covid-19 as a result of the demo would not matter, since the deaths of Aborigines in custody is so much more important.<br />
<br />
The state of New South Wales had attempted to ban the Sydney demo, but the state Supreme Court court overturned the ruling. In Victoria, the government of dictatorial far left premier Dan Andrews asked protesters not to proceed with the demo, but let it go ahead anyway, despite having more draconian amti-Covid 19 measures in place than any other state.<br />
<br />
The antisemitic and anti-Israel of sections of the Black Lives Matter movement is, of course, well-knowm, and in New York American activist Linda Sarsour, and Muslims in Brooklyn have shown their solidarity with the protests over the death of George Floyd.<br />

It's all grist to the mill of anti-white racism. Moreover, we are accustomed to hear of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, and there is in comparison little awareness of the enslavement and brutalisation of Africans by Muslim Arabs. Yet, as a recent article by Larry Elder in the <i>Toronto Star</i> reminds us, quoting a Ghanaian scholar, John Azumah:<br />

<i>“While two out of every three slaves shipped across the Atlantic were men, the proportions were reversed in the Islamic slave trade. Two women for every man were enslaved by the Muslims. While the mortality rate of the slaves being transported across the Atlantic was as high as 10 per cent, the percentage of the slaves dying in transit in the Tran-Saharan and East African slave market was a staggering 80 to 90 per cent.</i></blockquote>

<i>While almost all the slaves shipped across the Atlantic were for agricultural work, most of the slaves destined for the Muslim Middle East were for sexual exploitation as concubines in harems and for military service. While many children were born to the slaves in the Americas, the millions of their descendants are citizens in Brazil and the United States today. Very few descendants of the slaves who ended up in the Middle East survived. While most slaves who went to the Americas could marry and have families, most of the male slaves destined for the Middle East were castrated, and most of the children born to the women were killed at birth.</i></blockquote>

What a sad and sorry shambles these recent days have been and continue to be:<br />
- For those of us who remember such events as:the American race riots of the 1960s, and the hope of a new dawn engendered by the Civil Rights Movement and the stance and oratory of Dr Martin Luther King;<br />
For those of us who recall the tragic death of young Australian Jewish scholar Yankel Rosenbaum, so tragically killed amid racial tensions in Crown Heights in 2010;<br />
For those of us who respect America and are grieved to see that country tear itself apart in the wake of the shocking needless death of George Floyd;<br />
For those of us who love Israel and see the way that the enemies of Jews and Israel have been exploiting Mr Floyd's death for their own propaganda ends, as in the Washington protest pictured above, and in the <a href="https://www.frontpagemag.com/point/2020/06/jewish-communal-organizations-fail-address-la-daniel-greenfield/"><u><b>targeting of synagogues in Los Angeles</b></u></a>.<br />

Much has been written on the antisemitism that lurks within sections of the Black Lives Matter movement and within Antifa, and about the lawlessness and looting that has erupted in many American cities (take a look at <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MbYZnHS05U"><u><b>this video drive-through </b></u></a>of Manhattan to see the incredible number of "high-end" stores that were victimised, cleaned out, and are now boarded up!)<br />

<br />President Trump’s <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Peace-to-Prosperity-0120.pdf"><u><b>deal of the century</b></u></a> envisioning the creation of a second Arab state in former Palestine – in addition to Jordan – is in tatters following its <a href="http://english.wafa.ps/page.aspx?id=SHr6TEa117154132029aSHr6TE"><u><b>absolute rejection</b></u></a> by the PLO – requiring its urgent revision by the president.<br />
<br />
Trump has vainly struggled to keep the statehood possibility alive despite PLO President Mahmoud Abbas having consigned it to <a href="https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2020/01/pass-palestinian-leader-abbas-rejects-trump-plan-200128200626263.html"><u><b>the dustbin of history</b></u></a> on the day of its publication – 28 January 2020 -but the PLO has refused to play ball.<br />
<br />
Being a beggar does not fit Trump’s persona. He is allowing Israel to apply sovereignty in 30% of Judea and Samaria in July – with allocation of the remaining 70% requiring another Arab interlocutor to negotiate with Israel.Trump’s vision was always a mirage – offering the PLO less than 100% of Judea and Samaria it had been demanding since 1967– supported by the international community since the 1980 <a href="http://eeas.europa.eu/archives/docs/mepp/docs/venice_declaration_1980_en.pdf"><u><b>Venice Declaration</b></u></a>.<br />
<br />
Trump had predicated his vision without even defining who comprised the “Palestinians”. In addition his plan had incorrectly asserted:<br />

<b>1.</b><i><b> “Palestinians have aspirations that have not been realized, including self-determination”.</b></i></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
All West Bank Arabs became Jordanian nationals in <a href="https://www.refworld.org/docid/3ae6b4ea13.html"><u><b>1954 </b></u></a>until their nationality was revoked by Jordan in <a href="https://www.hrw.org/report/2010/02/01/stateless-again/palestinian-origin-jordanians-deprived-their-nationality"><u><b>1988</b></u></a>.</blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<b>2</b><i><b>. “The State of Israel has also exchanged sizeable territories for the sake of peace, as it did when it withdrew from the Sinai Peninsula in exchange for peace with the Arab Republic of Egypt.”</b></i></blockquote>

There is only one conflict – between Jews and Arabs - fuelled by the Arab League’s refusal to recognise the State of Israel since its establishment in 1948.</blockquote>

The religious dispute was resolved under the 1994 Israel-Jordan Peace Treaty granting Jordan control over places of Islamic religious significance in Jerusalem.</blockquote>

<b>4. Israeli Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin’s proposal for ending the Jewish-Arab conflict.</b> </blockquote>
