Eretz Israel is our unforgettable historic homeland...The Jews who will it shall achieve their State...And whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind. (Theodor Herzl, DerJudenstaat, 1896)

We offer peace and amity to all the neighbouring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all. The State of Israel is ready to contribute its full share to the peaceful progress and development of the Middle East.
(From Proclamation of the State of Israel, 5 Iyar 5708; 14 May 1948)

With a liberal democratic political system operating under the rule of law, a flourishing market economy producing technological innovation to the benefit of the wider world, and a population as educated and cultured as anywhere in Europe or North America, Israel is a normal Western country with a right to be treated as such in the community of nations.... For the global jihad, Israel may be the first objective. But it will not be the last. (Friends of Israel Initiative)

Hey, Hey, it's ...

(almost) Passover.  So to everyone to whom it's relevant, Chag Kasher v'Sameach.

And, hey, hey, I've just spotted an Australian "Jewish interest" movie newly uploaded to YouTube.  It's about an adolescent girl called Esther Blueburger, who's played, incidentally, by an actress of Italian extraction.

I must confess, I've never seen the movie, and it had what might tactfully be termed "mixed reviews".  From what I've read about the movie, which I believe offended some people, I'm not at all sure that it would be my cup of tea.

However, if you like the first part, there are another eleven on YouTube to enable you to see the entire thing:

  1. What's the point in you celebrating Passover when it signifies Christ's deliverance of the Hebrews from Egyptian bondage? You know... CHRIST? The One Whom the Luciferian Zionists despise, their Freemason brothers refusing even to utter His name?

Doesn't this post of yours smack as just a LITTLE hypocritical to you, Daphne?

  2. Gideon, once again I have posted your obnoxious comment because it is easy to forget - and startling to be reminded - of the fact that there are hardcore racist conspiracy-theory ridden Jew-haters such as yourself in the modern world.
The pity of it is that you're probably a nice enough person - the type who's kind to animals and helps old ladies across the road, etc.
But somewhere, sometime, you became indoctinated by hate for a small remnant of a persecuted minority group decimated not so many decades ago by genocide. That such disturbing hardcore antisemitism as yours can exist this side of the Holocaust is shocking and astonishing.
Please don't darken my door again, because I shall not post any further vile viciousness from you.

  3. Gideon fails to understand that Passover only has a prophetic significance for Christians because it has a real historical and continuing significance for Jews. If Passover was simply a myth like the Greek or Roman myths, then, like them, it would have passed into literature and no longer be observed by Jews. If the Jews had ceased to observe Passover, what would we make of the New Testament? The Jews, rightly, commemorate one of God's great historical acts. Exactly what is wrong with anyone giving glory to God for His Work? This Maundy Thursday, I alomng with other Christians, will remember Passover. It was Jesus Who said that salvation was from the Jews.

  6. Thanks, Ian, Roger, and Geoff.

Gideon, your further billets-doux are wasting their "sweetness" (not!) on the desert air.
I meant what I said - I will not be posting any further race-hatred material from you, insulting and defaming Jews.

  7. I have just stumbled on this site after becoming interested in Dougls Murray's comments at Holloway University. I once replied ot an article of Murray's iN open DEmocracy.org in which I challenged his views and he became mighty niffed..
The first thing that strikes me about this blog is 'that Daphne doesn;t get it.
Any organization that trise to point out israel's obligations under international law - like Amnesty Internation and the UN- towards an occupied people (and Daphne, you will say they are noT occupied and I don't Think you are committed to meANINGFUL dialogue on this site in any way at all)IS THAT THEY HAVE A HATE CAMPAIGN towards the State of Israel, that they all hate Israel and like Gideon above, are simply obnoxious, are outt o get israel. The point is that people find fault with Israel becuase of its human rights abuses with regard to the Plaestinians - I can hear you screeching right now, Daphne, that Palestinians don't exist and if they do at all, it is in a subjugated role to the Israelis
The second point is that Daphne sounds almost racist and like Murray has distorted many of the facts about the conflict. This conflict , on this blog, is presented as jihad - yet the roots of this present phase go back to at least 1917. Presenting it as jihad becomes very attractive t0 many people who cannot read between the lines... and obfuscates the real issues which will never be discussed on this page
Why does Daphne think people became hostile to israel after the Turksih ship was attacked? Isn't a democracy supposed to arrest people and put them on trial and not execure them at point blank range?
It's alos convenient for Daphne and admireres to omit the long catalogue of isralei transgression , flouting of UN resolutions, collective punishment agisnt the Plaestinian people, expropriation of land, using white phosphorous on unarmed civilians, preventing medical aid from reaching wounded civilians, cutting people off from thier livlehood by erecting the illegal wall, keeping minors in Israeli prisons - these are the things that make peopel critical of israel, Daphne, not the ethnic orientation.. being a democracy does not exempt you from these rules... it i snot an excuse to say f****** to the rest of the world, more disparity is being created...
Of course, jews were mercilessly persecuted in the past and they have the right to live in peace and this is why they are so dismissive of international opinion, no-one helped you in your hour of need - but not by creating another group of dispossessed people, that is a large part fo the conflict
Moreover,Israel is not the only democracy in the ME - Lebanon is a democracy but that doesn't count, right? The PNA is a democracy but Israle won't let them have elections in case they elect someone they can't manip[ulate..

You can't dialogue by demonizing others, Daphne and adopting a rabid nationalist stance, intended to drown out meaningul debate..long Live Naturai Karta, long live Fisk and others who dare speak out.... and sadly, long live Rabin who was assassinated by the extreme right wing in Israel

  8. Anna, you are probably unaware that somewhere in the grimier parts of the blogosphere, Gideon has an obnoxious hate-filled, unsavoury, genuinely antisemitic blog that frankly defies reason and decency.
Obviouly, like any country, Israel makes mistakes, but it is a liberal democracy, and more sinned against than sinning.
I reject your calumnies against it - it has the right and obligation to defend itself against terror, and the Palestinian Arabs would have had their own state long since had they Arabs and the rest of the not been bent on eradicating Israel.
Questioning aspects of Israeli policy is not antisemitic; questioning Israel's very right to defend itself and even to exist is. No other country is singled out in this way, not even atrocious rogue regimes.
The anti-Israel boycotters ignore violations of human rights by other countries while concentrating on abuses real or imagined in Israel.
That is sinister and frankly racist.
