Eretz Israel is our unforgettable historic homeland...The Jews who will it shall achieve their State...And whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind. (Theodor Herzl, DerJudenstaat, 1896)
We offer peace and amity to all the neighbouring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all. The State of Israel is ready to contribute its full share to the peaceful progress and development of the Middle East. (From Proclamation of the State of Israel, 5 Iyar 5708; 14 May 1948)
With a liberal democratic political system operating under the rule of law, a flourishing market economy producing technological innovation to the benefit of the wider world, and a population as educated and cultured as anywhere in Europe or North America, Israel is a normal Western country with a right to be treated as such in the community of nations.... For the global jihad, Israel may be the first objective. But it will not be the last. (Friends of Israel Initiative)

Senator Lee Rhiannon & Friends On European Islamophobia (video)
So, I guess they wouldn't consider this Swiss politician a William Tell for a continent:

Who was that nice man?
ReplyDeleteAntony Loewenstein, I presume you mean, geoffff.
ReplyDeleteThe Swiss one is Oskar Freysinger.
ReplyDeleteI meant the Swiss one. Antony Loewenstein I regret to say I know well.
ReplyDeleteI knew about Rhiannon's background. It always surprises me this should come as a surprise.
The mother would have been in Israel as Stalin's spy or maybe even envoy. As we know Stalin believed he would grab Israel for himself because the Jews would be so grateful to him for beating Hitler.
Likely he would have been persuaded by the number of deluded Stalinist Jews. Israel of course was never going to be anything other than a liberal democracy. He would not have understood that and regarded it as a betrayal. He hated Jews and Israel from that moment on.
The "left" then swung from Israel to "Palestine" as suddenly as it swung from Hitler to Britain the moment he recovered from the shock of the invasion. Communist parties and their fronts switched from sympathy for the Jews and Israel to demonising Israel and lionising "Palestinians" as suddenly as they switched from sabotaging the war effort to war patriotism in 1940.
It is interesting that Rhiannon seamlessly connected her own very nasty Stalinist past with the present. ("As some of you would know I've been on the left a long time" [snigger])
Truly disgusting. I will never forgive the Greens for delivering this horror to the Australian Senate.
Yes, I was a bit dozy in thinking you mean Antony, geoff. I hadn't heard of Freysinger before the video was sent my way.
