Eretz Israel is our unforgettable historic homeland...The Jews who will it shall achieve their State...And whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind. (Theodor Herzl, DerJudenstaat, 1896)

We offer peace and amity to all the neighbouring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all. The State of Israel is ready to contribute its full share to the peaceful progress and development of the Middle East.
(From Proclamation of the State of Israel, 5 Iyar 5708; 14 May 1948)

With a liberal democratic political system operating under the rule of law, a flourishing market economy producing technological innovation to the benefit of the wider world, and a population as educated and cultured as anywhere in Europe or North America, Israel is a normal Western country with a right to be treated as such in the community of nations.... For the global jihad, Israel may be the first objective. But it will not be the last. (Friends of Israel Initiative)

The View From Britain (video)

5 comments:

  1. Daphne,

The following is an exceedingly important video.

This is a video of a speech given by British Colonel Richard Kemp.

    This video is new.

The following is a transcription that I have transcribed from a part of Richard Kemp's speech.

    Richard Kemp:

"This malevolent portrayal of the IDF is carefully and systematically planned, cultivated, developed, expanded, and relentlessly driven forward. It is the key part of what amounts to nothing less than a pernicious, and increasingly dangerous, global conspiracy of propaganda aimed at the total delegitimization of the state of Israel - a conspiracy that has so far exceeded, in its international scope, anything dreamt of even by that master of propaganda, Dr. Joseph Goebbels himself - spreading the idea that Israel is so evil that it has no right to exist - aiming for the point where that idea becomes an acceptable mainstream argument in our Western societies.

"It is no surprise, of course, that such a campaign has great popularity in the Arab, and the wider, world, anymore than Goebbels' twisted propaganda machine succeeded in persuading so many Germans to his murderous cause, but what is truly shocking is the traction that this propaganda has gained in the West, among student bodies, teachers, university authorities, academics, think tanks, human rights organizations, aid agencies, parliamentary bodies, and, perhaps most damaging of all, the mass media.

"A favorite vehicle for the anti-Israel conspiracy is the United Nations Human Rights Council."

One may hear this, and the rest of the speech, by watching, and listening to, the video.

  2. I found out about the video which I listed, and to which I listed a link, from a blog post (http://karmafishies.blogspot.com/2011/05/this-is-important.html) on the blog Israel Thrives (http://karmafishies.blogspot.com), where the video was embedded in that blog post. In that blog post, the author of the blog Israel Thrives, who goes by the name Karmafish, referred to the video with a tip of the hat to the blog Elder of Ziyon, where the video was embedded in a post (http://elderofziyon.blogspot.com/2011/05/afternoon-links-part-2-plus-videos.html).

I have listed the video and the url of the video in comments that I have posted on other blogs.

  4. You are right that I am unaware of Gideon’s blog. Is he Jewish? It is correct to point out that it is unacceptable.
Actually, Daphne, Israel has deviated from its founding ideals which were to ensure that such persecution should never take place again - certainly, for Jews - but for others? YOu state that I have listed “calumnies” against Israel; they are categorically not. Those human rights abuses have been recorded , documented and researched. It Is not helpful to use emotive language and to dismiss them as lies – go find out, read. These organizations do not have a hate agenda against Israel, they have consistently criticized abuses in other countries – that is hysterical language that refuses to look at the facts
In fact the founding of the state of israel -( which I am in favour of) - was not without controversy. And it certainly had no precedent (ok, given the appalling circumstances the jews found themselves in , something very urgent had to be done). there was no referendum, no poll about which side of the border the Arabs wanted to be on (think of other partitions of that time, India/Pakistan all imposed by colonial officials with accompanying bloodshed)
You have ot go right back to Balfour to also understand the “selling off “ of Palestine (or at least some of it. Have you read Lord Balfour’s original letter?)
The Jews were given 52 % of Palestine when they constituted 33% of the population, the ethnic majority were the Arabsa That began the present perception of unfairness on their part. There were als0 massacres carried out by Stern, Irgun and the Hagannah (sorry abt spelling), Der Yssein being the most well-known of these massacres. Now people will argue for ever about the terms and conditions of partition (India and Pakistan are still arguing over kashmir)The Arabs sure made their mistakes too but both Jews and Arabs have been victims of colonialism
Look, both sides have done terrible things but there are people on both sides committed to working through the mess and hatred. have you read anything by Sidney Levy from the Jewish Voice for peace? They are an excellent organization

  5. Where on this post do I refer to Gideon's blog?
He is an avowed Christian who is an antisemitic conspiracy theorist.
I refute most of your other points, as you know.
There were a number of rants by Anons on this post, all presumably posted by you within seconds of each other.
