Eretz Israel is our unforgettable historic homeland...The Jews who will it shall achieve their State...And whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind. (Theodor Herzl, DerJudenstaat, 1896)

We offer peace and amity to all the neighbouring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all. The State of Israel is ready to contribute its full share to the peaceful progress and development of the Middle East.
(From Proclamation of the State of Israel, 5 Iyar 5708; 14 May 1948)

With a liberal democratic political system operating under the rule of law, a flourishing market economy producing technological innovation to the benefit of the wider world, and a population as educated and cultured as anywhere in Europe or North America, Israel is a normal Western country with a right to be treated as such in the community of nations.... For the global jihad, Israel may be the first objective. But it will not be the last. (Friends of Israel Initiative)

Why Boycotting Israel Is Rank Hypocrisy: Scottish PSC chief nails it!

In the promotion of his anti-Israel agenda, Mick Napier, the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign chief, is as usual a very busy laddie.

In the run up to Christmas (or should that be Hogmanay?) he's as active as ever in the cause of delegitimising the world's one and only Jewish state.

At the beginning of this month, for example, he joined Yvonne Ridley, the Press TV presenter and Muslim convert, in a brainstorming conference at Dundee University.

(Note, by the way, the logos of the affiliated campus organisations, with at least one leaving little doubt as to what "Action on Palestine" means to it.)

A week earlier Mr Napier was telling his Facebook clan (hat tip: Reader P):

A few days before that he declared:

The raison d'ĂȘtre and the thrust of the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign is encapsulated in the literature they hand out and display at their not infrequent Israel-bashing demos:

Even though their ultimate goal is not as apparent as, say, that of this group which has joined SPC members on marches:

Now, in the interests of good public relations if nothing else, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign headquartered in London has more than once avowed its opposition to overt manifestations of antisemitism.  That is why, for example, it disapproves of branches linking to articles in the antisemitic online rag Redress.

And on 12 December SPSC chief Napier lost no time in rebuking a Glasgow-based follower of his, one Hamza Hussain, who posted an unequivocal antisemitic slur (Rev Stephen Sizer could and should take a leaf out of Mr Napier's book and admonish a few of his antisemitic followers):

And in so doing Mr Napier (pictured) has, albeit unwittingly, hit the nail on the head regarding the hypocrisy that underlies the BDS movement:
"What about atrocities committed worldwide ... The list is endless ...."

Since the list is "endless", Mick, why is it only Israel you and your followers seek to boycott?

Here's Mudar Zahran again, telling Sean Hannity how evil Hamas is, and how unpopular among Gazans:

Caroline Glick: "A Singular Standard For Israel ... An Obsessive Compulsive Need To Pick At The Jewish State" (video)

A furious Caroline Glick, in a heartfelt riposte to a Danish diplomat, condemns "an obsession that Jews have seen from Europeans from the time of Jesus":

And a repulsive article here by Ghada Karmi, one of Israel's academic enemies in the UK: note the heavy duty antisemitic comments it's attracted.

The same can be stated, sadly, of this jejune contribution.

Meanwhile, in Gaza, the occasional toddler with a gun joins in the 27th anniversary celebrations of the founding of that ultimate hate group, Hamas:

In Australia, Antisemitic Incidents Increase (video)

Jews have been in Australia since the first day of European settlement.  The highly assimilated Anglo-Jewish community, which a century ago was shrinking inexorably owing to apathy and intermarriage, was augmented in the immediate pre-war and post-war decades by immigration from Central and Eastern Europe, which revitalised Australian Jewry.  In the state of Victoria, with which this video is concerned, there is a particularly high percentage of Holocaust survivors' families, particularly of Polish background.  This community continues to be highly Zionist in orientation.  According to this ABC News report, antisemitic incidents are on the rise in Victoria, and have spiked since this summer's events in Gaza.

In today's The Australian, by the way, Australian Jewish News publisher Robert Magid has one of the robusly commonsensical articles for which he is known.  It's on the subject of the rush by the nations to recognise a Palestinian State and is behind a pay wall here.

Magid remarks, inter alia:
'[S]uppose that the Security Council did embrace the Palestinians and welcome them into the family of nations. What can we expect the morning after?....
[O]nce Palestine becomes a nation-state the PA’s first act would have to be to demand the withdrawal of Israeli forces from its now sovereign territory. Under threat of international sanctions, Israel would have to cede to the pressure. The inevitable consequence would be the overthrow of the PA by Hamas or another Islamist group....
[G]iven the potentially cataclysmic consequences of this scenario, what motivates the advocates of a Palestinian state and inspires them to welcome such a catastrophe? In the case of the Europeans, who willingly delivered their own Jewish citizens to the Nazi extermination machine, what motivates them to promote a policy that could lead to the death of the children of the survivors?
For those wishing, despite the paywall, to google the article, the exact title is "Disturbing State of Affairs" ;)

"In Gaza, UNRWA Acts As A Branch Of Hamas" (a truly must-see video!)

"These days, there's no hiding the Hamas-UNRWA connection ...":

A Law Expert's Robust Defence Of The Controversial Israel Nation State Bill

Professor Eugene Kontorovic of Northwestern University in the United States is an authority on constitutional and international law.

He has written an important article that states, inter alia:
'Israel’s proposed constitutional legislation to confirm its status as the “nation state” of the Jewish people has not only generated controversy within Israel, where it has helped bring down the current parliamentary coalition, but has also drawn criticism from the U.S. and Europe. The draft legislation has been decried as extreme and undemocratic....
These objections do not hold water. For one, ensuring Israel’s status as a Jewish nation state is a goal expressly endorsed by the same critics, when it comes to pressuring Israel into diplomatic concessions. Second, the law is far from unusual by Western standards: it actually does far less to recognize Jewish nationhood or religion than provisions common in other democratic constitutions....
It is noteworthy that most of the European constitutions affirming a particular national heritage are both recent and involve nations with sizable ethnic minorities. It is hard to understand why what works for them should be so widely denounced when it comes to Israel.'

"Kill The Jews!"; An "Isolated Incident" In Crown Heights (videos)

An apparently bipolar man named as Calvin Peters, armed with a nine-inch knife bearing a blade four-and-a-half inches wide and reportedly screaming "I want to kill the Jews!" or words to that effect, entered the Chabad-Lubavitch World Headquarters in the Brooklyn neighbourhood of Crown Heights in the very early hours of Tuesday morning and stabbed a young yeshiva student from Israel, Levi Rosenblat, in the left temple.  After doing so, Peters reportedly approached another young student and vowed "I will kill the Jews!"  Police Officer Timothy Donahue raced to the scene and with two other policemen vainly tried to persuade Peters to put down his weapon.  He was fatally shot in the stomach when he suddenly charged at them.
'In startling video first posted by Israeli news site 0404, Donohue and the other officer could be heard repeatedly yelling at Peters to put down the weapon.
Some of the students in the center could also be heard pleading with Peters to give up.
Then a single shot rang out, hitting Peters and ending the drama on Eastern Parkway.
Rosenblat, 22, was rushed to trauma unit at Kings County Hospital and later transferred to Bellevue Hospital where he was in critical condition with bleeding on the brain, police and sources said.
“Earlier today we all felt pretty good that he was stable, but now it seems they found something they didn't know this morning and he's in pretty serious shape,” said Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn).'
See here and here

It's further reported:
'[T]he public is asked to increase their prayers for the victim, Levi Yitzchok ben Raizel, to make a complete and speedy recovery....
Doctors at Bellevue Hospital performed a non-invasive surgery on Rosenblat, and expressed optimism that the procedure was successful. His vitals are strong, they reported.
Rosenblat’s condition, though improving, is still serious, and the doctors are keeping him sedated for the time being.'
Although the attack evoked memories of the recent tragic events at a Jerusalem synagogue, it is thought that this attack was not connected with terrorism, but was "an isolated incident":
