Eretz Israel is our unforgettable historic homeland...The Jews who will it shall achieve their State...And whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind. (Theodor Herzl, DerJudenstaat, 1896)

We offer peace and amity to all the neighbouring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all. The State of Israel is ready to contribute its full share to the peaceful progress and development of the Middle East.
(From Proclamation of the State of Israel, 5 Iyar 5708; 14 May 1948)

With a liberal democratic political system operating under the rule of law, a flourishing market economy producing technological innovation to the benefit of the wider world, and a population as educated and cultured as anywhere in Europe or North America, Israel is a normal Western country with a right to be treated as such in the community of nations.... For the global jihad, Israel may be the first objective. But it will not be the last. (Friends of Israel Initiative)

As usual, Bibi Rocks!

The transcript to Bibi Netanyahu's awesome pre-Rosh Hashana speech to the UN can be read here

But why go to the transcript, when you can see and hear the man himself?

Expat dissidents may mock:

But nothing can detract from his message or diminish the truisms in his speech.

David Singer: Netanyahu Sends Clear Message to Trump, Putin, May and UN

Here's the latest article by Sydney lawyer and international affairs analyst David Singer.

He writes:

Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu has had a busy week meeting with UK Foreign Minister Boris Johnson in Jerusalem, President Vladimir Putin in Moscow and then back to Jerusalem for a five hour meeting with President Trump’s Special Representative for International Negotiations – Jason Greenblatt.

The framework for these meetings was set by Netanyahu – who told Johnson:
“It’s evident that we agree on most things, but not on all things. And one of the things, I think the source of it when you analyze a problem, get to its roots and reason that we haven’t had peace for a hundred years is not the settlements, but the persistent refusal to recognize a nation-state for the Jewish people in any boundary. I think if you want to solve a problem, go to the core of the problem, and that is something I look forward to discussing with you further.”
Netanyahu’s claim is substantiated by the following facts:
1. Settlements were not the problem when the first two-state solution was proposed by article 25 of the League of Nations Mandate for Palestine in 1922.
That solution – which envisaged allocating the Arabs 78 per cent of Mandatory Palestine [Transjordan] and the Jews the remaining 22 per cent – was rejected by the Arabs but accepted by the Jews.
Iran – one of the 51 States then unanimously endorsing the Jewish people’s legal right to reconstitute the Jewish National Home in Palestine – now seeks to destroy the Jewish State in 2017.
2. Settlements were not the problem in 1937 when the Peel Commission recommended partition of the territory of the Mandate into one Jewish State and one Arab State – again rejected by the Arabs but accepted by the Jews.
3. Transjordan remained part of the Mandate for Palestine until Great Britain granted it independence on 22 March 1946. 78 per cent of the Mandate territory was thus irrevocably transformed into an exclusive Arabs-only State contrary to Article 5 of the Mandate.
4. The United Nations recommendation to partition the remaining 22 per cent of the Mandate territory into one Arab State and one Jewish State in November 1947 was again rejected by the Arabs and accepted by the Jews – culminating in Western Palestine being invaded in May 1948 by six Arab armies and the forcible eviction of all Jews living in East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza.
5. Settlements were not the problem between 1948 and 1967 when another Arab State could have been created with the stroke of an Arab League pen in East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza whilst not one Jew lived there.
6. Offers by Israel in 2000/2001 and 2008 to another Arab State being created in Gaza and the West Bank were rejected by the Arabs.
7. In December 2016 UN Security Council Resolution 2334 declared that the Jewish Quarter and Kotel in East Jerusalem, the Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives, the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron and Rachel’s Tomb near Bethlehem were “occupied Palestinian territory”.
UK and Russia shamefully failed to veto this Resolution.
8. Gaza is ruled by Hamas and the Palestine Liberation Organization governs Areas A and B of the West Bank. Both have held onto power without holding elections since 2006. Both refuse to recognize a Jewish nation-state in any boundaries.
Johnson told Netanyahu:
“I first visited [Israel] when I was – as I never tire of telling you – when I was 18.”
Netanyahu should never tire of telling world leaders that the 100 years old Jewish-Arab conflict will not be resolved until the Arabs recognise the right of the Jewish People to their own independent State.

An Aussie Israel-Hater's Finest Moment (LOL)

This video hasn't been on YouTube long and already it's attracted "death to Bibi" comments.

The heckler is being described excitedly as a hero by the usual suspects on social media.

Just shows how frustrated the Israel-haters in Australia are at the moment, to take comfort in so little.

Au Revoir, Bibi! We Love You Heaps!

If there is one thing that has come over with crystal clarity in the footage of Mr Netanyahu's visit to Australia, it is the obvious genuine delight that Mr Turnbull has shown as the Israeli prime minister's host.  That he has a deep emotional investment in the welfare of Israel is palpable.  It is written on his face.  It is heard in his voice.  This has been an extraordinary state visit; the welcome accorded Bibi and Sara and the entire Israeli delegation by Malcolm Turnbull has been almost over the top!

The Australian prime minister has spoken in the past of his belief that his mother, Coral Lansbury, cousin of the actress Angela Lansbury, was of Jewish descent on her mother's side, and although that belief appears to be misplaced, he can claim, through the Lansbury family, mishpocha of sorts, in the person of his great-grandfather George Lansbury's son Edgar's first wife, suffragette and social reformer Minnie Glassman.  (George Lansbury, to whom Mr Turnbull as he ages bears a striking physical resemblance, was of course leader of the British Labour Party between the wars, and had spent some time in Queensland.)

What a pity that all of Australia's Jewish day school children  could not have met  Bibi, like these lucky children at Moriah College in Sydney.

Before Bibi flew out of Sydney today he met with Aussie Foreign Minister Julie Bishop:

An interview by ABC journo Stan Grant with Zionist Federation of Australia president Mark Leibler and an Israel-hater here

As the president and the executive director of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry have said of the visit:
“The historic visit to Australia by Benjamin Netanyahu, the first by an incumbent Israeli Prime Minister, was of tremendous positive significance to the Australian Jewish community and to Australia as a whole.
Australia’s Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, made a point of attending and speaking at every official and non-official function that was addressed by his Israeli counterpart, and of aligning Australia with Israel at every opportunity.   A highlight was Prime Minister Turnbull’s declaration that Australia would have voted against UN Security Council resolution 2334, and Prime Minister Netanyahu’s response praising the “down-to-earth Australians” for “puncturing UN hypocrisy”.
Despite the inordinate focus of some sections of the media on the conflict with the Palestinians and the settlements issue, it quickly became clear that the priorities of the two leaders and their respective governments lay elsewhere.  They discussed issues of vital concern to the national interests of both nations – intelligence sharing, counter-terrorism, thwarting Iran’s aggression, cyber-security, science, agri-tech, energy and resources and the environment.
The events organised by the Jewish community at Central Synagogue and at Moriah College, and the speeches made there by both Prime Ministers, were unforgettably moving and uplifting.  These events further galvanised the already-strong support for Israel among Australian Jews, and left an indelible impression on everyone who attended them.  Surveying the capacity audience at Central Synagogue, crammed with political and communal leaders and other dignitaries, Prime Minister Netanyahu was moved to begin his speech with a simple exclamation: “Wow!”.”
This best sums up his entire visit to Australia.  It was an outstanding success, and a great morale booster for the Jewish community and Israel’s many other friends in Australia.'

Bibi Down Under: These don't like it up 'em

Unhappiness is being an Israel-hater and viewing something like this:

And being an Australian Israel-hater and seeing the warm, wonderful welcome that the Turnbull government has given to Bibi and Sara Netanyahu.

This unhappiness means that if you're the ABC (Australia's equivalent to the BBC, and just as left-oriented) you do all you can to undermine Israel on your news website by giving inordinate space to Israel- and Netanyahu-bashers, and you spruik for outraged Guardianistas for your flagship current affairs discussion program Q&A (the ABC's equivalent to "Question Time") by linking to an article by Bishop Browning, the chap from APAN who got 60-odd like-minded "prominent" Aussies to demand, to no avail, that the government in effect show Bibi a red card, not a red carpet:

As a fair and honest bloke (hounded by an anti-Israel mob) has commented below this pimping propaganda on Facebook:
"More ABC bias..Its appalling and they no longer seem to care.[ the wider public notices though] ..Notice the ABC never seems to report on the vile anti-Semitism of the Palestinian side [ or Muslim Jew hatred generally ]and its supporters among the far Left including the Greens..And yet the ABC has no qualms in employing a Sharia Law supporter..Well there you go..Citing The Guardian on this issue is a joke"
More unhappy Israel-haters, snapped by a representative of Green Left Weekly at an anti-Bibi demo  on Thursday evening in Sydney Town Hall Square:

Australia has a Jew PM and a puppet of Zionism. Nutter Yahoo is a terrorist war criminal and so scared that he flew around Malaysia and Indonesia so that his plane is not brought down and arrested. Bibi: "The Land of Our Common Heritage"

Former Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks on the erosion in Britain (he could be writing of plenty of places elsewhere) of the Judeo-Christian moral code:
'You cannot have a society without a shared moral code....
We have begun a journey down to the road to moral relativism and individualism, which no society in history has survived for long. It was the road taken in Greece in the third pre-Christian century and Rome in the first century CE: two great civilizations that shortly thereafter declined and died. Britain has begun along the same trajectory, and it is bad news for our children, and for our grandchildren worse still.
Some elements of morality are universal: justice-as-fairness and the avoidance of inflicting harm. But others are particular. They are what give a country and culture its colour, its distinctive handwriting in the book of life. The Britain I grew up in had extraordinary values and virtues. It honoured tradition but was open to innovation. It valued family and community but also left space for eccentricity and individuality....
I was a Jew and Britain was a Christian country, but it wore its religion lightly and its embrace was inclusive and warm. Generations of Jews who came here fleeing persecution elsewhere saw these virtues as wondrous, as something deeper and stronger than mere abstract tolerance, and wanted us, their children, to acquire them. For them and for us Britain was not just where we were but a vital part of who we were....'
Here's something the Israel-haters and Chrislam propagandists would rather ignore.
"To understand the severity of the situation, let us recall that in the 1950s about 86 per cent of the population of the Bethlehem area was Christian. Today, we are only 12 per cent. In Israel, by contrast, we have 133,000 Christians and the figure is stable. Of course, I am worried about the future of Christians here.... I fear the day will come when our churches will become museums.  Is my nightmare."
The speaker is Palestinian Christian Samir Qumsieh, quoted in a must-read article on the plight of Palestinian Christians by Khaled Abu Toameh here.

Bibi Netanyahu:
"To all of our Christian friends around the world, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!I send you these greetings from Jerusalem. I'm standing in the courtyard of this magnificent International Christian Embassy. I'm so proud of our relations with our Christian brothers and sisters. I wonder for many of you if you remember the experience you had when you first visited Israel, when you saw the Church of the Holy Sepulchre or the Via Dolorosa or the Sea of Galilee or Nazareth. I'm sure it moved you deeply.
And it moves us deeply to have this bond with you because we all know that this land of Israel is the land of our common heritage. It changed the story of humanity, it changed civilization. What a magnificent heritage it is. Yet, we also know that it is under attack these days, that the forces of intolerance, of barbarism that attack all religions attack Christians with particular vehemence. We stand with you and I'm proud of the fact that in Israel, this is the one place in the Middle East that the Christian community not only survives but thrives and it's no accident. It’s because of our commitment to religious freedom; it's because of our embrace of our heritage; it's because of our embrace of our common future. So please come to Israel. Come and visit me, I'm waiting for you. It will be a great experience for you.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year!"

Bibi says:
"Israelis deeply appreciate one of the great pillars of the US-Israel alliance: the willingness over many years of the US to stand up in the UN and veto anti-Israel resolutions.
I hope the US won't abandon this policy; I hope it will abide by the principles set by President Obama himself in his speech in the UN in 2011: That peace will come not through UN resolutions, but only through direct negotiations between the parties.
And that's why this proposed resolution is bad. It's bad for Israel; it's bad for the United States; and it's bad for peace."

"Israel Teeters On Cusp Of Security Suicide" Warns David Singer

http://libertyunyielding.com/
In this, his latest article, Australian lawyer and international affairs activist David Singer turns his attention to the imminent Israeli election.

He writes:

Economic issues have been identified as the top issue in the forthcoming Israeli elections to be held on 17 March, with security issues trailing far behind.

The polls are confidently predicting a four-seat difference in favour of the Zionist Camp over the current Likud-led Government and the possibility of a new Zionist Camp Government being formed.

Zvi Zhariyha pointed out on 15 January:
“In Israel’s proportional representation system, in which parties are awarded seats in parliament based on the proportion of the vote that they receive, the ranking of the candidates on the slate becomes all-important as seats are filled from the top of the list. Top spots on the Labor list went to MKs with a social-justice and economic agenda, including former journalist Shelly Yacimovich, and Stav Shaffir and Itzik Shmuli, who were both prominent in the 2011 social justice protest movement.
Yacimovich finished first in the party vote, which will place her in the third spot on the slate, behind Labor Party leader Isaac Herzog and Tzipi Livni, the leader of Hatnuah, which is running on a joint ticket with Labor. Shaffir finished just behind Yacimovich, granting her the fourth slot…"
Two of these top four Zionist Camp candidates have expressed viewpoints that are distinctly anti-Zionist. Prime Minister-in-waiting Isaac Herzog  – according to respected analyst Sarah Honig – has voiced opposition to the term “Jewish State”:
“The Jewish state expression is entirely mistaken,” he says recurrently (and we have a recording to prove it: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9nHlX19roA) “because it creates the impression of a nationality that enjoys excessive privileges.”

Were US Secretary of State John Kerry somehow able to get Israel and the PLO to the negotiating table again, then this long standing Israeli demand – supported by President Obama  – and the Congress since 2004 – would ostensibly fall by the wayside under a Government led by Herzog.

Sarah Honig further points out:
'Stav Shaffir, for example, refused to share a podium with the Likud’s Yoav Kish because he is a reserve fighter pilot. She also thinks that “Hatikva is a racist national anthem.”
It’s not our say-so. Journalist Asher Schechter wrote a book on the 2011 demonstrations in which Shaffir was a key mover (Rothschild – the Chronicle of Protest, published by Kibbutz Hameuhad/Sifriat Hapoalim). On page 96 Schechter describes Shaffir’s vehement opposition to singing Hatikva. She was so emotional about it that “she burst into tears and yelled out that Hatikva is racist.”'
Another Zionist Camp likely member of the Knesset – Merav Micaheli – told Galei Zahal
“women should not at all send their kids to the army when there is a continuous occupation for over 40 years. The regime in Israel doesn’t make the effort to solve this in other ways, so it’s necessary to stop being prepared to send children to the army.”
Sarah Honig has identified two other candidates likely to pop up as Zionist Camp representatives in any Zionist Camp Government:

http://www.onlythelikud.org.il/achievements/
Zoher Bahalul (who declares:“our Palestinian identity is stronger than the Israeli”) or the ultra-leftist Prof. Yossi Yonah (who confessed: “Zionism doesn’t express what I am”).

Veteran Ha’aretz journalist Gideon Levy has also delivered a withering attack on the Zionist Camp:
“This camp knows only how to trick and mislead, in the best of its tradition.”
Economic issues also topped security issues by a country mile in the 2013 Israeli election – yet Netanyahu still emerged as Prime Minister.

With 14 per cent of the voters still undecided – they could re-elect Netanyahu again – figuring out that improvements in economic and social justice conditions aren’t worth a shekel if you are not alive to enjoy their undeniable benefits. [Emphasis added]
