Eretz Israel is our unforgettable historic homeland...The Jews who will it shall achieve their State...And whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind. (Theodor Herzl, DerJudenstaat, 1896)

We offer peace and amity to all the neighbouring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all. The State of Israel is ready to contribute its full share to the peaceful progress and development of the Middle East.
(From Proclamation of the State of Israel, 5 Iyar 5708; 14 May 1948)

With a liberal democratic political system operating under the rule of law, a flourishing market economy producing technological innovation to the benefit of the wider world, and a population as educated and cultured as anywhere in Europe or North America, Israel is a normal Western country with a right to be treated as such in the community of nations.... For the global jihad, Israel may be the first objective. But it will not be the last. (Friends of Israel Initiative)

Israel-Undermining Event Coming To A Campus Down Under

Wollongong, which some allege derives its name from an Aboriginal word meaning "many snakes" and others "sound of the sea," is an industrial port in New South Wales.  Here's  a glimpse of downtown Wollongong during a protest in Crown Street following the deaths of "peace activists" aboard the Mavi Marmara a couple of years ago:

Later this month, the University of Wollongong (coincidentally the alma mater of the female Socialist Alliance aspiring politician who's seen and heard, keffiyeh-clad, on the above footage) is hosting a "Collaborative Struggle" Conference under the auspices of the Institute For Social Transformation Research (wow, that's some title!) in cooperation with the School of History and Politics.

The aim of the Conference is evidently to propagandise for a single state "solution" entailing the eradication of the sovereign state of Israel.

As announced here the Conference will feature an exhibition that
"showcases a proposal to turn an abandoned army base into a visitors center toward Palestinian return
Presented by Zochrot, an Arab-Jewish NGO introducing the Palestinian Nakba to Jewish Istaeli [sic] society."
It will also include a public lecture by no less a personage than Ilan Pappé, entitled  "Desegregating The Conflict: The History of Collaborative Struggle in Palestine".

One of the two Wollongong academics convening the conference is preparing a book with the working title After Israel. In an extensive post relating to him ("F*ck you fascist Zionists") on the Israeli Academia Monitor site here it is remarked:
"[The] University of Wollo[n]gong is a large public university with a big international students body that has become the newest outpost of the struggle against Israel."
All the more reason to appreciate this Aussie's heart-warming letter of praise for Israel, then!
