Eretz Israel is our unforgettable historic homeland...The Jews who will it shall achieve their State...And whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind. (Theodor Herzl, DerJudenstaat, 1896)

We offer peace and amity to all the neighbouring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all. The State of Israel is ready to contribute its full share to the peaceful progress and development of the Middle East.
(From Proclamation of the State of Israel, 5 Iyar 5708; 14 May 1948)

With a liberal democratic political system operating under the rule of law, a flourishing market economy producing technological innovation to the benefit of the wider world, and a population as educated and cultured as anywhere in Europe or North America, Israel is a normal Western country with a right to be treated as such in the community of nations.... For the global jihad, Israel may be the first objective. But it will not be the last. (Friends of Israel Initiative)

"I Love Israel ... Free People Need to Unify against Islam as a Belief System": Son of Hamas leader (video)

At the Jerusalem Post Annual Conference Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of a prominent Hamas commander, pays warm tribute to Israel as "the only light in the Middle East", condemns BDS, the "apartheid" slur, and the political correctness that muzzles expressions of fear regarding Islam ("the Muslim people have a problem"), and issues a stark  warning that the danger from Islam endangers the whole world, not just Israel.

Hypocrisy, Thy Name Is NOW

There's this kind of silence and hypocrisy as identfiied by Bibi Netanyahu of course.

And there's this; from Professor Phyllis Chesler, a typically cogent, searing, and justified indictment of the Western feminist movement and its reprehensible habit of keeping shtum when the perpetrators of crimes against women are Islamists (see examples here):

She writes, inter alia:
'The upcoming annual conference of the National Organization for Women does not list ISIS or Boko Haram on its agenda. While the most recent Women’s Studies annual conference did focus on foreign policy, they were only interested in Palestine, a country which has never existed, and support for which is often synonymous with an anti-Israel position. Privately, feminists favor non-intervention, non-violence and the need for multilateral action, and they blame America for practically everything wrong in the world.
What is going on?
Feminists are, typically, leftists who view “Amerika” and white Christian men as their most dangerous enemies, while remaining silent about Islamist barbarians such as ISIS.
Feminists strongly criticize Christianity and Judaism, but they’re strangely reluctant to oppose Islam — as if doing so would be “racist.” They fail to understand that a religion is a belief or an ideology, not a skin color.
The new pseudo-feminists are more concerned with racism than with sexism, and disproportionately focused on Western imperialism, colonialism and capitalism than on Islam’s long and ongoing history of imperialism, colonialism, anti-black racism, slavery, forced conversion and gender and religious apartheid.
And why? They are terrified of being seen as “politically incorrect” and then demonized and shunned for it.
The Middle East and Western Africa are burning; Iran is raping female civilians and torturing political prisoners; the Pakistani Taliban is shooting young girls in the head for trying to get an education and disfiguring them with acid if their veils are askew — and yet, NOW passed no resolution opposing this.
Twenty-first century feminists need to oppose misogynistic, totalitarian movements. They need to reassess the global threats to liberty, and rekindle our original passion for universal justice and freedom.'

And while we're on the subject of Western "feminists" and their double standards, here's the zany Medea Benjamin [pictured] from CodePink, being taken terribly seriously by Israel haters (check out the clown in the green tee shirt, in the front row) from the Stop the War Coalition in London last week.

(She, regular readers will recall, dressed very demurely, headscarf and all, for a conference in Teheran last year attended by Holocaust deniers and others.)

Fabulous Phyllis on the Pitfalls of Exposing Islamic Extremism

Professor Emerita Phyllis Chesler (pictured), a staunch champion of Israel, is one of those courageous people who despite suffering the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune continue to warn urgently of the increasing islamisation of western societies.

In  her article entitled "Fund the Truth About Islam or Lose the War of Ideas" she has some telling examples of what might politely be called "appeasement" in western circles, including those very leftwing circles which might be expected robustly to condemn Muslim misogyny for example, towards Islamic excesses:
'One cannot tell the truth or venture one’s opinion about Islam or about Muslim behaviors without risking being slandered, heckled, censored, sued, impoverished, physically attacked, and, more rarely, murdered.
And that’s for those of us lucky enough to be living in the free West. What happens to dissident and feminist thinkers and writers in Muslim-majority countries is far worse; their bravery continues to inspire me at a very dark moment in history.
The Western punishments are as follows:
One loses one’s left, liberal, and feminist friends. One is not invited to their parties, funerals, or conferences. One is not invited to lecture. One’s past contribution is written out of their history. Meanwhile, one is forced to debate vicious liars and propagandists in order to be “heard” at all. One is shouted out of classrooms and lecture halls or forced to speak under hostile, tense, oppressive, and potentially dangerous working conditions. One requires bodyguards on campus.
In short, hate speech and delusions of appeasement have, increasingly, appropriated for themselves all the rights and privileges of free speech in the West and, in the United States, the protection of the First Amendment. Truth goes begging and truth-tellers are sued. They are not funded by the Saudi (Wahabi-Salafist) Lobby which has funded Middle East Studies programs, conferences, and scholars all over Europe and North America, nor are they funded or supported by the Iranian Axis of Evil (Syria, North Korea, Hezbollah, and Gaza’s Hamas, which has just joined with the West Bank’s Fatah in a national unity government.) ....
[I]n 2003 when I had to be hustled out for my own safety during a lecture. I had already begun to write and speak about Jew hatred, the demonization of Israel as the new anti-Semitism, and of course, about Islamic gender and religious apartheid and jihad.
Like many others, I have been mocked, ostracized, and slandered for my continued work in these areas. I have lost friends and colleagues. I have also lost publishers as well as lecture opportunities—in short, I have been economically “fined” for my work. Here are only two among hundreds of examples.
A book that I published in 2005, The Death of Feminism, documents the way in which Islamic gender apartheid has penetrated the West. My American-based publisher had me work very closely with a First Amendment lawyer, full-time, for a solid month, almost around the clock. He was entirely satisfied—but the British-parent company still chose not to risk publication in the UK.
Not a single European publisher has translated this (dare I say) very powerful and still relevant book.
Just today, I received word that the Europe-based editor of many of my previous books, who is now at another publishing house, had rejected this work which had been hand-carried to him by a mutual friend. He said that the work was too “pro-Israel, not critical enough,” and that it failed to condemn the Sharansky vision of universal human rights which President Bush presumably relied upon....
Anyway, he lied to our mutual friend. The book barely touches upon anti-Semitism and Israel. Its main focus is on Islamic gender apartheid and on the western feminist failure to take a strong stand against it and on behalf of universal human rights.'

Marvellous Melanie on the "Delusional Perspective" through which Israel is viewed in the UK

As a commentator on the current stupor afflicting the West, in its denial of the full extent of the jihadist threat and its appeasement of those who would destroy first Israel and then the rest of the free world,  Melanie Phillips has few equals.

Interviewed recently on Israeli TV ( http://www.iba.org.il/olam  hat tip: Avraham Reiss) she spoke of the delusional attitude in the UK regarding Israel, a situation that she describes as "pathological", with public opinion swayed by an intelligentsia that gets its information largely from outlets such as Ha'aretz and is "impervious to reason, impervious to evidence, impervious to facts". She also speaks of the media's failure to report accurately about the Middle East and stresses that for this state of affairs Israel shoulders some of the blame, turning itself into a victim, with its hasbara "a joke" and even members of its academia ignorant of the history of their own country and feeding students the lie that Israel was "born in sin".  The Islamists have "colonised the battleground of the mind" and as a result truth has been inverted, with Israel transformed from "victim into victimiser". And she warns of the true goal of Israel's Islamist enemies – to have a Middle East free of the Jewish State altogether.
