Eretz Israel is our unforgettable historic homeland...The Jews who will it shall achieve their State...And whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind. (Theodor Herzl, DerJudenstaat, 1896)

We offer peace and amity to all the neighbouring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all. The State of Israel is ready to contribute its full share to the peaceful progress and development of the Middle East.
(From Proclamation of the State of Israel, 5 Iyar 5708; 14 May 1948)

With a liberal democratic political system operating under the rule of law, a flourishing market economy producing technological innovation to the benefit of the wider world, and a population as educated and cultured as anywhere in Europe or North America, Israel is a normal Western country with a right to be treated as such in the community of nations.... For the global jihad, Israel may be the first objective. But it will not be the last. (Friends of Israel Initiative)

In Oz, More Leftist Hypocrisy

Counter-demonstrators in Perth
Yesterday (as my previous post shows) it was Melbourne's turn to have leftist "anti-fascists" come out onto the streets in opposition to opponents of  what they perceive as the creeping islamification of Australia.

Today, it was the turn of other cities, including Sydney.

There were few(ish) disgraceful Left-orchestrated scenes of violence as in Melbourne, it seems, and nobody was sprayed by the police with capsicum.

It goes without saying that demonising innocent people who happen to be Muslim is untenable, and some of the types in the anti-Islam "Reclaim Australia" rallies look every bit as unsavoury as some of the demonstrators on the other side.  But that does not explain why the Left is absolutely opposed to any expression of anxiety about Islam, nor does it give the Left carte blanche to muzzle the reasoned ventilation of fears regarding the impact of mass Muslim migration upon Australian society.

The Left rails against "fascism" but tolerates no suggestion that radical Islam may be considered "fascist" itself.

Left to right (but always Left): Patterson, Hinman, Porzsolt
Regarding Sydney, there's a detailed report with plenty of pictorial coverage and footage here.

What strikes me, yet again, are the curious double standards that govern leftist attitudes and behaviour.

For instance, one of the speakers at the Sydney rally was Green-Left Weekly contributor Helen Patterson, an advocate for women's rights in society at large, sticking up for a creed that does not exactly display the credentials of sensitive New Age guys as far as the female of the species is concerned.

In common with many if not most of the participants in today's demo, Ms Patterson is no friend to Israel. The viscerally anti-Israel Socialist Alliance was out in force at the demo, and speakers included anti-Israel Greens senator Lee Rhiannon, while as   the above photo shows veteran pro-BDS Israel-bashers Pip Hinman and Vivienne Porzsolt (a flotilla activist of Jewish background) were also present.

What is particularly striking is that many participants held flags declaring "Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal Land" and posters bearing slogans to that effect.

The question that occurs at once is this, and it's not as facetious as it sounds: since these people are in effect confessing that they are living on stolen land, shouldn't they getting off that land and give it  back to those who they consider its true and perpetual owners?

After all,  so many of them expect the Jews of Israel to get off the land they are living on and give it to the "Palestinians".

Aren't the leftists displaying hypocritical double standards by failing to do so?

    1. The Nazi has a Welsh dragon flag in his tattoo - wonder what that's all about! The guy in the other picture with the Free Palestine shirt looks appalling.

    Is Australia listening?
