Eretz Israel is our unforgettable historic homeland...The Jews who will it shall achieve their State...And whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind. (Theodor Herzl, DerJudenstaat, 1896)

We offer peace and amity to all the neighbouring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all. The State of Israel is ready to contribute its full share to the peaceful progress and development of the Middle East.
(From Proclamation of the State of Israel, 5 Iyar 5708; 14 May 1948)

With a liberal democratic political system operating under the rule of law, a flourishing market economy producing technological innovation to the benefit of the wider world, and a population as educated and cultured as anywhere in Europe or North America, Israel is a normal Western country with a right to be treated as such in the community of nations.... For the global jihad, Israel may be the first objective. But it will not be the last. (Friends of Israel Initiative)

A Stinker Out of Bedfordshire

The renowned British columnist Melanie Phillips recently wrote a humdinger of a book entitled The World Turned Upside Down.  Just how upside down that portion of the world known as Great (make that "formerly Great") Britain, aka Cloud Cuckoo Land, is has been freshly demonstrated by the fact that The Spectator, on whose site Ms Phillips's blog appears, is being investigated by, of all absurdities, the constabulary of Bedfordshire.

Why?  Because someone living in that county has apparently referred to that force this post http://www.spectator.co.uk/melaniephillips/6779100/armchair-barbarism.thtml on which Ms Phillips wrote of the "barbarism" of the Arabs who killed the Fogel family in Itamar.

I'd call butchering a family while it slept, and in the process decapitating a tiny baby, barbarism. Wouldn't you?

And now it's up to the Bedfordshire plods to decide whether to prosecute.

It's a mad, mad, mad, mad world.

  1. The Nazis are back !!! :(

The fully taxpayer funded Australian ABC is just as despicable in its covering of this Arab/Muslim massacre of innocent Jewish families - they not only buried this terrorist attack on page 1000 (I had to look long and hard to find it), and did not call the beast by its name, but implied in their head lines which they called:

"New homes approved after settlers stabbed"

that the family was more or less "asking for it", and, in conclusion portrayed the "Palestinians" as the aggraved party, like so:

"...Hours after the killings the Israeli government approved construction of 500 new homes for Jewish settlers in the West Bank.
...Palestinian authorities have condemned the decision..."

Incidentally, the book by that wonderfully intelligent and gutsy Lady, Melanie Phillips, that you mention above "The World Turned Upside Down" is a MUST READ !!! It's absolutely unputdownable.

  2. I thought John Howard put a stop to the ABC's nonsense by appointing conservatives to its board. Evidently the Augean Stable was not cleansed enough!

  3. In all fairness to "AUNTIE"- their act has been cleaned up somewhat.

    SBS is another story

Channel 10 now joins the list of Israel haters, since George Negus joined them

  4. I'd half-forgotten Negus. Another puffed up ego.
I left an antisemitic rant on the Helen Thomas post, incidentally, Shirlee. Seems the bloke who posted it is a bit of a dinosaur regarding women, judging from his opening remark, but the rest of the rant is pure classic antisemitism. He's not worth arguing with, of course!

  5. Melanie Phillips wrote a magnificent but worrying article about the growing attacks on free speech last September, which included these sadly prophetic lines:

"...the intellectual trend in Britain is a remorseless slide towards a dark age of intolerance, reverting to a reason-suppressing, heresy-hunting culture in which certain opinions are being turned into thought crimes.

Astoundingly, people are being arrested by the police — even if the case against them eventually falls — because of what they have said. They are not inciting violence or any criminal activity. They are merely expressing a point of view. Yet for that they may find the police feeling their collars."

How depressing that she's become the latest victim.

We are a democracy. Free speech is the cornerstone of democracy. The more free speech is prosecuted the less we are a democracy.
