Eretz Israel is our unforgettable historic homeland...The Jews who will it shall achieve their State...And whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind. (Theodor Herzl, DerJudenstaat, 1896)

We offer peace and amity to all the neighbouring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all. The State of Israel is ready to contribute its full share to the peaceful progress and development of the Middle East.
(From Proclamation of the State of Israel, 5 Iyar 5708; 14 May 1948)

With a liberal democratic political system operating under the rule of law, a flourishing market economy producing technological innovation to the benefit of the wider world, and a population as educated and cultured as anywhere in Europe or North America, Israel is a normal Western country with a right to be treated as such in the community of nations.... For the global jihad, Israel may be the first objective. But it will not be the last. (Friends of Israel Initiative)

"Oh, Jeremy Corbyn ..."

What a rum lot!  It sounds like a dirge to me, a wail of derision against the execrable Labour leader. But alas, it's a tribute to him, on the part of old and not so old lefties, anti-Americans  and unilateral nuclear disarmament advocates at a "Don't Bomb Syria" demo in London recently:

  1. A Quick History of Syria Persecuting Jews
    by Mr. Cohen

In the 1980s, Rabbi Zevulun Lieberman (of blessed memory, a former YU professor and synagogue Rabbi in NYC) once gave a public lecture about the history of Syrian Jews. I attended that lecture, and I remember his exact words.

Rabbi Zevulun Lieberman publicly taught that:
“from the time that Syria became a Muslim country,
the Jews of Syria did not have even one happy day.”

In the 1800s, there was a false blood libel against the Jews of Syria.

During World War II, all Arab nations, including Syria, united to pressure the British government to block access to British Palestine, so Jews would not be able to flee from the European Holocaust to British Palestine. As a result, unknown thousands of Jews who might have survived the Holocaust were murdered by the Nazis and their helpers/

In 1948, anti-Jewish pogroms erupted in Syria, killing hundreds of Jews. When the Jews realized that the police were making no effort to protect them, they fled the country, which they lived in since the time of King Solomon.

For decades after the Holocaust, Syria was a haven for convicted Nazi-war-criminals.
Not only were the convicted Nazi-war-criminals tolerated, but they were promoted to high government positions.

For decades in Syria, Jewish children as young as six-years-old were tortured-to-death by government security agents, while the Liberal-dominated news-media ignored anti-Jewish persecution in Syria and instead focused on increasing sympathy for the so-called “Palestinians”.

For many decades, Syria was the international headquarters of the boycott against Israel.
This was many decades before the anti-Israel BDS boycott movement was created.

Syria fought in every Arab war against Israel. Even during peacetime, Syria constantly fired rockets, and missiles and machine guns at Israel’s civilian population.

For more than 60 years, Syria refused to allow its Jews to leave the country. In the 1980s and 1990s, 4,500 Syrian police-officers were assigned the full-time duty of watching Syria’s Jews, even though there were only 4,500 Jews in Syria at that time, and 75% of them were women above age 40.

Needless to say, it was illegal for any Jew to leave Syria and any Jew caught making an escape attempt was severely punished.

People from Syria have been taught to HATE JEWS. It is part of their educational system. During World War II, only 10% of Germans were members of the Nazi Party; but the percentage of Syrian Muslims who want to destroy Israel and kill all Jews is close to 100%. The Muslim inhabitants of Syria hate Jews more than the average German during World War II.
