Eretz Israel is our unforgettable historic homeland...The Jews who will it shall achieve their State...And whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind. (Theodor Herzl, DerJudenstaat, 1896)

We offer peace and amity to all the neighbouring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all. The State of Israel is ready to contribute its full share to the peaceful progress and development of the Middle East.
(From Proclamation of the State of Israel, 5 Iyar 5708; 14 May 1948)

With a liberal democratic political system operating under the rule of law, a flourishing market economy producing technological innovation to the benefit of the wider world, and a population as educated and cultured as anywhere in Europe or North America, Israel is a normal Western country with a right to be treated as such in the community of nations.... For the global jihad, Israel may be the first objective. But it will not be the last. (Friends of Israel Initiative)

An Irishman's Splendid Pro-Israel & Pro-Jewish Speech (video)

Here's Councillor Richard Humphreys (Labour) speaking on 25 November at a pro-Israel rally in Dublin.  While by no means unsympatheti to the Palestinians, he calls for a more balanced approach in Ireland to the Middle East situation, and pays tribute not only to Israel but to the Jewish presence in Ireland.

Thank you, Councillor Humphreys!  Thank you for reminding us that there's another viewpoint in the Emerald Isle other than that of the horribly strident Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

The Shamrock & The Star: Support for Israel from the Emerald Isle (video)

The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign has the reputation of being  one the most vitriolic of all such organisations in Western Europe, and one of its stalwarts (who appears on some if not all of the videos I've posted on here from time to time) is presently wielding a vociferous seemingly obsessive campaign against "Israeli blood diamonds".

It's wonderful, then, to come across this video (hat tip: reader Ian) of support for Israel from Irish people, and so touching to see and hear their messages.

If You're Irish, Come Into The Petition

The frequency with which the notorious Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign holds demos demonising Israel, and the vehement hatred displayed by certain hardcore activists (who as seen here even travelled to London's diamond district to bait traders, fortunately copping an earful from supporters of the Zionist Entity) should not obscure the fact that there are friends of Ireland in the Emerald Isle, such as this commenter on a current anti-BDS petition:
"I'm tired of Israel always having to stand alone. I am a Christian. I love Israel. I wish to support them in all their troubles."

Here's the text of the petition (to sign it click here):

Many of you will have signed my petition on Avaaz.org.Sadly today Avaaz showed it true colours and removed the petition as it felt it was against their "Community Standards". Avaaz's behaviour has been anti democratic and biased but we the friends of Israel in Ireland and worldwide must stand together and urge Minister Gilmore and the Irish Government to not seek a EU ban on Israeli goods made in the settlements.
On the 15th May 2012 Eamon Gilmore the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs suggested he may seek a EU wide ban of Israeli settlement goods.
http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/frontpage/2012/0515/1224316131471.html
Israeli settlements are in Area C, Area C of the West Bank under the Oslo Accord was assigned to Israel.Area A and B was given to the Palestinian Authority to control.
If Minister Gilmore wishes to seek a boycott of Israeli settlement goods,we seek an EU wide boycott of goods made in Western Sahara which is occupied by Morocco,Indonesian goods made in West Papua New Guinea and Chinese goods made in Tibet

We urge Minister Gilmore,Minister Creighton and the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs not to seek a boycott of Israeli goods ,instead they should look to build bridges between various communities in the Middle East.
Singling out Israel will not secure a lasting peace.
