Eretz Israel is our unforgettable historic homeland...The Jews who will it shall achieve their State...And whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind. (Theodor Herzl, DerJudenstaat, 1896)

We offer peace and amity to all the neighbouring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all. The State of Israel is ready to contribute its full share to the peaceful progress and development of the Middle East.
(From Proclamation of the State of Israel, 5 Iyar 5708; 14 May 1948)

With a liberal democratic political system operating under the rule of law, a flourishing market economy producing technological innovation to the benefit of the wider world, and a population as educated and cultured as anywhere in Europe or North America, Israel is a normal Western country with a right to be treated as such in the community of nations.... For the global jihad, Israel may be the first objective. But it will not be the last. (Friends of Israel Initiative)

"Palestine, Pearl of the Muslim Lands ... Oh Allah, Annihilate the Jews!"

So rants one of those olde tyme fire and brimstone preachers, in Al Aqsa Mosque:

Says the uploader, Memri.org:
'In an address delivered at the Al-Aqsa Mosque on May 20, 2016, as the month of Ramadhan drew near, Palestinian preacher Sheikh Ali Abu Ahmad said that he hoped that the Caliphate would be restored in the near future and called upon the armies of the Islamic nation to rally to the battle. Abu Ahmad prayed: "Oh Allah, protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque from the filth of the Jews! Oh Allah, annihilate all the Jews! Oh Allah, enable us to kill them!" The address was posted on the Aqsa Call YouTube account.'

"Their Main Goal Is To Eliminate Israel & Establish An Islamic State": Jordanian opposition figure on Palestinian aims (video)

Just posted by Mudar Zahran re Jordan
Here's Mudar Zahran, the Jordanian opposition figure of Palestinian background who's very sympathetic to Israel, interviewed on Brett and Jon Rappaport's current affairs series The Final Say about the current situation in the Middle East.
"They are ... in their own world when it comes to radicalism and hatred of Israel ...Their main goal is to eliminate Israel and establish an Islamic state."
In that quotation, is Mr Zahran talking about Hamas?

No.  He's talking about the attitude of Palestinians in the West Bank, where he spent this past summer.

The entire interview, not overly long, is worth listening to, but the relevant section starts at about 13:15, when Mr Zahran's interviewer asks him whether there are any genuine partners for peace on the Palestinian side.

Regarding the people of Gaza, he says
"[T]hey have had enough of Hamas.  They would love to see Hamas go."
He is scornful of the Kerry Plan and the current vogue for recognising Palestinian statehood..
"The Palestinian Authority is corrupt and affiliated with terrorism."
"Basically the West is pushing Israel as if [statehood] is going to solve all the problems .... It's a bad idea."
His solution?
"[T]he only logical option is a Palestinian state east of the river ...."

David Singer On Palestinian Violence: "Continuing Jew-hatred Must Extract A Heavy Price"

This video (hat tip: Shirlee), of the bloodied scene following this week's atrocity in a Jerusalem synagogue, contains graphic images.  They are a grim testimony to what two evil men have done in a house of worship to peaceful persons engaged in prayer; nevertheless, some people might feel that they are best kept out of the public domain, so please think carefully whether you wish to view them.

In the immediate wake of that atrocity, and on the theme of how such manifestations of Jew-hatred should be answered, comes the latest article by Australian lawyer and international affairs analyst David Singer.

He writes:

An obscene reaction by a Palestinian hatemonger
The slaughter of four rabbis with axes, knives and guns whilst praying in a synagogue along with the serious wounding of six other Jews caught in this horrific blood bath – and the murder of a Druze police officer who went to their rescue – is the end result of endemic Jew-hatred:
1. Begun in the 1920 Jerusalem riots
2. Embodied in the 1964 PLO Covenant, and
3. Reinforced in the 1987 Hamas Charter
Arab Jew-hatred has continued unabated for the last 90 years since the Jewish people’s right to self- determination was unanimously endorsed by the League of Nations Mandate for Palestine and article 80 of the UN Charter.

Alarm bells warning of this week’s massacre should have sounded loud and clear when American Secretary of State John Kerry visited Israel on 2 January following Israel releasing 26 long term Palestinian Arab prisoners convicted of murder and other serious criminal offences.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presciently told Kerry on that occasion:
“A few days ago in Ramallah, President Abbas embraced [these] terrorists as heroes. To glorify the murders of innocent women and men as heroes is an outrage. How can President Abbas says – how can he say that he stands against terrorism when he embraces the perpetrators of terrorism and glorifies them as heroes? He can’t stand against terrorists and stand with the terrorists. And I’m wondering what a young Palestinian would think when he sees the leader of the Palestinian people embrace people who axed innocent men and women – axed their heads or blew them up or riddled them with bullets – what’s a young Palestinian supposed to think about the future? What’s he supposed to think about what he should do vis-a-vis Israelis and vis-a-vis the state of Israel? So it’s not surprising that in recent weeks Israel has been subjected to a growing wave of terrorist attacks. President Abbas didn’t see fit to condemn these attacks even after we learned that at least in one case – I stress, at least in one case – those who served and are serving in the Palestinian security forces took part in them.”
Among those 26 prisoners released were:

   1. Yakoub Muhammad Ouda Ramadan, Afana Mustafa Ahmad Muhammad, and Da’agna Nufal Mahmad Mahmoud – convicted of stabbing Sara Sharon, 37, to death in Holon on January 20, 1993.

    2. Abu Mohsin Khaled Ibrahim Jamal – convicted of the ambush and murder of Shlomo Yahya, a 76-year-old gardener, in a public park in Moshav Kadima and stabbing him to death.

    3. Barham Fawzi Mustafa Nasser – convicted for the murder of Morris (Moshe) Edri 65 – a former employer of Nasser who Nasser ambushed and stabbed in the back.

    4. Muammar Ata Mahmoud Mahmoud and Salah Khalil Ahmad Ibrahim – convicted of murdering Menahem Stern, a history professor at Hebrew University. Stern, 64, a winner of the prestigious Israel Prize, was stabbed to death while walking to work at the university’s Givat Ram campus on June 22, 1989.

   5.  Abu Hadir Muhammad Yassin Yassin – convicted for the murder of Yigal Shahaf – shooting him in the head as he and his wife were walking through Jerusalem’s old city toward the Western Wall.

Netanyahu then told Kerry to his face:
“In the six months since the start of peace negotiations, the Palestinian Authority continues its unabated incitement against the state of Israel. This Palestinian Government incitement is rampant. You see it in the state-controlled media – the government-controlled media – in the schools, in textbooks, in kindergartens. You see it at every part of Palestinian society. So instead of preparing Palestinians for peace, Palestinian leaders are teaching them to hate Israel. This is not the way to achieve peace. President Abbas must lead his people away from terror and incitement, towards reconciliation and peace.”
Kerry failed to address this virulent Jew-hatred motivating Palestinian Arabs to murder Jews - ignored the adulation afforded these convicted murderers by Abbas and remained silent on the rampant incitement conducted on a daily basis against Israel.

Instead – Kerry – apparently languishing in a time warp – sought to provide some comforting reassurance for Netanyahu with these incredibly inane remarks:
“On a personal level, last month I travelled to Vietnam on my first visit there as Secretary of State. And the transformation in our relationship – I was a young soldier who fought there – the transformation in our relationship is proof that as painful as the past can be, through hard work of diplomacy history’s adversaries can actually become partners for a new day and history’s challenges can become opportunities for a new age.”
Kerry’s words have turned out to be a massive misjudgement.

It is surely time for America and the European Union especially - and for the rest of the international community generally - to take stock and make clear that:
1. no further financial aid will be given in either Gaza or the West Bank
 2. Abbas and his Government will be regarded as persona non-grata
until:
(i) the insidious Jew-hating provisions in the PLO Covenant and Hamas Charter are repealed
(ii) Government-controlled media and schools excise all references denigrating and demeaning Jews.
(iii) The PLO is prepared to recognise Israel as the nation state of the Jewish People in any peace agreement signed by Israel and the PLO.
Failure to so act can only see the Jewish-Arab conflict spiralling out of control into a crisis of catastrophic proportions.

Should such Jew-hatred continue – this heavy price must be extracted.

More Candy For More Carnage (video)

Remember these unpalatable scenes following the slaughter of the Fogel family in 2011?

Well, here's footage of Gazans in Rafah handing out candy to celebrate the commission of evil deeds against defenceless Israeli Jews.

British Intellectual Slams Islamic Antisemitism (video) & Palestinian Child Indulges In Some

Catholic intellectual Daniel Johnson, editor of Standpoint magazine and son of the journalist and historian Paul Johnson, who wrote a grand history of the Jews, pulls no punches in this speech at the Oxford Union, (coincidentally the day after the butchering of fusilier Lee Rigby) disputing the motion that "This House believes Islam is a religion of peace".  In the course of his speech he praises the Jewish scholar Geza Vermes, who forsook Judaism for Christianity and later reverted to his Jewish roots, and observes that had Vermes changed his religion in Islamic countries he would be at threat of death for apostasy.

Johnson cites, inter alia, cruelty to non-Muslims, women, and slaves in Islamic tradition, and the latter's inherent antisemitism.

Nevertheless, the motion was carried by 286 votes to 168.

Perhaps many of those voting in favour were inhibited by what Johnson, during his speech, called "the pernicious notion of Islamophobia".

Talking of Islamic antisemitism, here's a new PMW video showing a small Palestinian girl on PA TV indulging in some:

"Oh, you who were brought up on spilling blood
You have been condemned to humiliation and hardship
Oh Sons of Zion, oh most evil among creations
 Oh barbaric monkeys, wretched pigs.

Jerusalem vomits from within it your impurity
Because Jerusalem, you impure ones, is pious, immaculate
And Jerusalem, you who are filth, is clean and pure."

A Trio Of Good 'Uns

That consistently pro-Israel newspaper, The Australian, carries an article by Ian Wilcock, a former Australian ambassador to Israel, explaining why antisemitism on the part of the Palestinians is an obstacle to peace:
"An astonishing part of PA ideology is the constant use of the notoriously forged document of a century ago, the so-called Protocols of the Elders of Zion. For the PA, this is presented as proof that Jews are running an international conspiracy to conquer and divide the world and to portray Jews and Israelis as inherently evil.....

Sadly there is much more....
And then there is Hamas, the Islamist movement that controls the Gaza Strip and which is in a declared partnership with the PA. It has signed up to every vile anti-Semitic calumny history has to offer. Its charter calls for the destruction of the state of Israel.
....To allow these obscenities to continue must further undermine the confidence of the only negotiating partner that could actually deliver a state for Palestinians - Israel. Not to take such action would confirm that the PA has joined with those (headed by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's Iran) whose objective is to threaten, demonise, delegitimise, even obliterate Israel, but who refuse to engage in the hard and even dangerous work of negotiation and compromise...."
The usual suspects are grumbling on social media about this article, which is reviving memories amongst them of how, to their anger, the Canberra Times (not known for its friendship towards Israel), carried last year an excellent article by Rev Peter Kurti in which he correctly labelled the Greens' campaign for a boycott of Israeli products antisemitic.  In the course of the article he remarked:
'An essential part of the compact of a free society is that all its citizens are afforded protection from persecution and freedom from fear....
When a segment of society is targeted by reason of its identity – be it a religious, ethnic or national identity – the right of that segment to live free from fear is compromised....
BDS states on its website that boycott targets are chosen ‘"based on their direct contribution to grave human rights abuses and international law violations of the Israeli state and military’".
BDS declares two objectives. First: compel Israel to respect international law and freedom; second: achieve justice and equality for Palestinians by ending what it describes as ‘"Israel’s systematic oppression of the Palestinian people’"....
Behind the BDS rhetoric about justice, freedom and peace lurks a much darker objective. Committed to the belief that Israel, a tiny sliver of a democratic state, is the leading threat to world peace, the boycott campaign is part of a renewed offensive to challenge the legitimacy of the state of Israel. And with that, the nature of the BDS campaign is revealed.
Far from being simply an attempt to urge the Israeli government to change its policy on the occupied territories, the campaign really amounts to a denunciation of the Jewish state itself.
After all, if BDS is so concerned about ‘"basic human rights" and ‘"violations of international law", why was it so oddly silent when Syrian forces loyal to President Assad shelled the besieged city of Latakia, forcing more than 5000 Palestinian refugees to flee a refugee camp?
And why doesn’t it threaten boycotts against any of the human rights-violating, non-democratic regimes around the world?....
"They’ve got rocks in their heads,’" union leader Paul Howes has said of BDS attempts to equate the [Max Brenner] chocolate protest with the campaign against apartheid in South Africa.
The BDS has crossed the line between a protest which is anti-Israeli policy and one which is anti-Semitic....'

Palestine: Racy Left-Liberal Double Standards

Here's our old friend, London-based Abdel Bari Atwan, editor-in-chief of the pan-Arab newspaper al-Quds al-Arabi, and long one of left-liberal Al Beeb's very favourite studio pundits as well as a pin-up boy of the like-minded Guardian (he was recently claimed by Gaddafi's Libyan foes to have been on the colonel's payroll, incidentally), telling an Arabic network what Arafat said about Jews:

And here he is spilling the beans on what Arafat really thought of the Oslo Accords:

Eye-opening stuff, huh?

Here's Dr Atwan again, back in 2007, saying something very spiteful indeed about Israel.  Judging from the number of times he's appeared on Al Beeb since then, the outburst apparently served to make the Beeboids (as the much-to-be-recommended Biased BBC website terms them) revere him all the more (I believe they've kept rather shtum about that Gaddafi payroll allegation):

Here's a par-for-the-course statement from Hamas about Israel and its sympathisers as well as about Jews and Christians in particular:

Of course, Al Beeb, which never publicises the genocidal document that is the Hamas Charter, is always very careful not to reveal such tidbits that serve to blunt the Bowen arrows it shoots in Israel's direction.

I refer you to the pictorial examples of Palestinian antisemitism here, where the very pertinent observation is made:
'The Palestinian cause is increasingly supported by western "progressives" who also claim to be champions for tolerance, pluralism, and minority rights [yet] have been too willing to ignore the basic and unfortunate fact that racism, homophobia, xenophobia, and anti-Semitism are widespread and accepted in Palestinian society.'
And as Benjamin Weinthal observes in a masterly commentary on the excrescence that is Durban 111, no less than 18 of the 27 European Union states - representatives, for the most part, of the Western liberal tradition - have betrayed Western value by attending that forum despite its deep taint of antisemitism.

Of Racism & Rejectionism: Durban & The UN Vote

To date, the following countries have announced their withdrawal from the planned anti-Israel hatefest known as the Durban 111 Conference Against Racism, to be held in New York this month: Israel (naturally!), Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and the United States.

In his latest article, this one entitled "Palestine – Will Acceptance Ever Replace Rejection?", which comes as usual via the antipodean J-Wire service, Sydney lawyer and international affairs analyst David Singer explains what's at stake and why it's incumbent upon countries to take a principled stand.

Writes David Singer:

'The expulsion of Israel’s ambassador from Turkey and the forced withdrawal of Israel’s entire diplomatic corps from Egypt have become the catalysts to ensure further virulent assaults on the Jewish people at the Durban 111 Conference on Racism to be held in New York next week and the UN meeting shortly thereafter to possibly consider a resolution calling for the recognition of a Palestinian Arab State.

Both of these meetings will set the stage for further violent confrontations between Israel and its neighbours unless steps are taken to end the Jewish people being singled out, vilified and dehumanised in an orgy of Jew-hatred  to virtually the exclusion of any other human rights abuses taking place around the world at the very time these meetings are taking place.

In the circumstances attendees at both these meetings would do well to reflect that the world would be a very different place in 2011 – not only in the Middle East but world-wide – had the Arab League encouraged the Palestinian Arabs to accept any of the following opportunities to create a second Palestinian Arab State in former Palestine (in addition to Jordan) :
  •  When recommended by the UN General Assembly on November 29, 1947 pursuant to Resolution 181
  • At any time between 1948-1967 after all Jews living in Gaza, West Bank and East Jerusalem had been driven from their homes by six invading Arab armies in the 1948 War
  • When offered by Israel’s Prime Minister Ehud Barak in 2001 during negotiations at Camp David chaired by President Clinton
  • When offered by Israel’s Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in negotiations during 2008
The  major common stumbling block that has seen these opportunities fly out the window has been – and still remains – the refusal of the Arabs to accept any Jewish sovereign presence in the Jewish people’s ancient biblical and modern day legally sanctioned homeland as designated by the League of Nations and the United Nations.

Continuing Arab hatred and resentment of the Jewish people daring to have the political and intestinal fortitude to lobby for and come home to reconstitute the Jewish National Home in their historic homeland after 2000 years of dispersion and persecution has become too bitter a pill for the Arabs to swallow.

Arab denial of any right to a Jewish homeland in former Palestine is writ large in the Hamas and PLO Charters.

Article 11 of the Hamas Charter declares:

"Palestine is an Islamic Waqf  The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine has been an Islamic Waqf throughout the generations and until the Day of Resurrection, no one can renounce it or part of it, or abandon it or part of it. No Arab country nor the aggregate of all Arab countries, and no Arab King or President nor all of them in the aggregate, have that right, nor has that right any organization or the aggregate of all organizations, be they Palestinian or Arab, because Palestine is an Islamic Waqf throughout all generations and to the Day of Resurrection."
Do those who call for the lifting of the Israeli naval blockade of Gaza share these views – which obviously were endorsed by Gazan Arabs themselves when voting Hamas into power?

Article 15 urges the slaughter of Jews by jihad:
"When our enemies usurp some Islamic lands, Jihad becomes a duty binding on all Muslims. In order to face the usurpation of Palestine by the Jews, we have no escape from raising the  banner of Jihad. This would require the propagation of Islamic consciousness among the masses on all local, Arab and Islamic levels. We must spread the spirit of Jihad among the     [Islamic] Umma, clash with the enemies and join the ranks of the Jihad fighters."
Will this racist hatred rate a mention at Durban 111? Will those attending who have been seen embracing Hamas leaders and officials dare to utter a word of condemnation?

The PLO is scarcely better in its Jew-hating Charter.

Articles 1,2 and 3 make it clear that Jews have no national rights in former Palestine- which belongs to the Arabs and no one else.

Article 1:
Palestine is the homeland of the Arab Palestinian people; it is an indivisible part of the Arab homeland, and the Palestinian people are an integral part of the Arab nation.

Article 2:
Palestine, with the boundaries it had during the British Mandate, is an indivisible territorial unit.

Article 3:
The Palestinian Arab people possess the legal right to their homeland and have the right to determine their destiny after achieving the liberation of their country in accordance with their wishes and entirely of their own accord and will.

Whilst the Arabs constitute a nation, the same recognition is not extended to the Jews – as the PLO explicitly declares in Article 20:
"Judaism, being a religion, is not an independent nationality. Nor do Jews constitute a single nation with an identity of its own; they are citizens of the states to which they belong."
Will any member State at the UN demand the removal of this hate-filled and racist language from the PLO Charter as a condition of recognizing any Palestinian Arab State?

Featured speaker at Durban 111 will be Iranian President Ahmadinajad – who told Israel on August 26:
"Do not think that your existence will be recognized with the recognition of the Palestinian state.  You have no place in our region and among our nations, and you will not be able to continue your ignominious life on even a small part of the Palestinian territories."
Will Ahmadinajad’s appearance at the podium be marked by the same vociferous heckling that the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra received at the London Proms ... or will the delegates sit in silence as this Jew-hater extraordinaire continues his vile incitement against the Jews?

The refusal of the Arabs – and many of their allies such as Ahmadinajad – to accept the right of the Jewish people to independence in their ancient and biblical homeland will ensure  the continuation of the 130 years old Jewish-Arab conflict.

Taking a stand at Durban 111 and the UN to demand Arab acceptance of Jewish rights to statehood – as the General Assembly made clear 64 years ago – must be the message that rings out loud and clear.
Unless this happens things are going to get far worse before they get better.'

Passover: "The Holiday of Apes"

Traditionally, this season - that of Passover and Easter - was one of blood libels and pogroms in Christendom, especially in Eastern Europe.

There's something about Easter, with its imagery of the Crucifixion, which kindled, and occasionally still kindles, primitive antisemitism, despite the fact that the Romans, not the Jews, sentenced Jesus to death.

A news report in the Palestinian Authority's official newspaper tells that:
"The spring carnival has retained its [Palestinian] flavor in towns such as Bethlehem, Beit Sahour and Ramallah... with the demonstrations of the Scouts, songs, dances, and popular Palestinian hymns about Christian-Islamic unity and internal Christian unity. These hymns carry meaningful messages, in response to the Israeli prohibition [to enter Jerusalem], as seen in the calls of the youth who lead the procession of light, waving swords and not caring if anyone accuses them of anti-Semitism: ... 'Our master, Jesus, the Messiah, the Messiah redeemed us, with his blood he bought us, and today we are joyous while the Jews are sad,' and, 'Jews, Jews! Your holiday is the Holiday of the Apes, while our holiday is the Holiday of the Messiah.'"
Although this ditty is reportedly in retaliation for that "Israeli prohibition", it has (hat tip: Elliott Green) earlier echoes.  Elliott Green found that Saul S Friedman reports a similar ditty sung at Eastertime in the 19th century in his Land of Dust: Palestine at the Turn of the Century (Washington DC: University Press of America 1982), pp 115-116. The original version runs in part:
"Oh Jews! Oh Jews! Your feasts are goblin feasts. . . ."
Friedman cites the Palestinian Arabic-speaking Christian, Gamahliel Wad el-Ward in Palestine through the Eyes of a Native [New York: Fleming H Revell 1907]. pp 60-64.
