Eretz Israel is our unforgettable historic homeland...The Jews who will it shall achieve their State...And whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind. (Theodor Herzl, DerJudenstaat, 1896)

We offer peace and amity to all the neighbouring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all. The State of Israel is ready to contribute its full share to the peaceful progress and development of the Middle East.
(From Proclamation of the State of Israel, 5 Iyar 5708; 14 May 1948)

With a liberal democratic political system operating under the rule of law, a flourishing market economy producing technological innovation to the benefit of the wider world, and a population as educated and cultured as anywhere in Europe or North America, Israel is a normal Western country with a right to be treated as such in the community of nations.... For the global jihad, Israel may be the first objective. But it will not be the last. (Friends of Israel Initiative)

He's Not Wrong, Isi?

"....Muslim migrants who settled into enclaves in Europe have imported their hatred and formed unholy alliances with traditional anti-Semites and political leftists – including organizations purportedly promoting human rights – to foment an environment of Jew-hatred reminiscent of the 1930s, immediately prior to the rise of Nazism.

The ongoing influx of millions of Muslim refugees will massively reinforce the existing Muslim anti-Semitic elements and permanently alter the demographics of Europe. Unlikely to be reversed, it will enable Islam to become an immensely powerful political force in many West European countries.

The implications for European Jews are horrendous, as the combination of the prevailing virulently anti-Israeli public opinion and extremist Islamic political agitation will, in all likelihood, lead to even more extreme policies toward Israel. Despite lip service to the contrary, anti-Semitism will continue to thrive.
....
European Jews who fail to see the writing on the wall are simply living in denial...."

That's part of a must-read article by veteran international Jewish leader and Jerusalem Post columnist Isi Leibler.

And his warning's not only restricted to Europe, although it is, of course, in Europe that the danger is at its most imminent and potentially lethal.

Here's a small example of the Leftist-Islamist/"Muslims are the new Jew"s/"Islamophobia is the new antisemitism" mindset that manifested itself in Bradford this week; note the disgraceful pandering of the BBC's Nicky Campbell to "Mossad Stole My Shoe"'s nonsense.

The latest anti-Israel propaganda from the leftist BBC:

Here's one of the numerous manifestations of raw antisemitism that anyone can find on Facebook without really trying; it was posted by a woman whose Facebook friends includes such luminaries of the anti-Israel movement as Richard Falk and Antony Loewenstein.

Another sage passage regarding what's happening in Europe is quoted below.  It was made very recently by the splendid Sultan Knish, aka Daniel Greenfield (read the entire article!):
'....The left’s patronage of Islamic terrorists for its own political purposes follows a thread back to the origin of Islamic terrorism. Islamic violence against non-Muslims dates back to the founding of Islam, but the tactics of modern Islamic terrorism owe as much to Lenin as they do to Mohammed.....
Having learned nothing from the Hitler-Stalin pact, the left has replayed the same betrayal with the Mohammed-Stalin pact in the Middle East and now in the West. But the end of the Mohammed-Stalin pact will not be a Socialist totalitarian utopia, but an Islamic theocracy of slaves, terror and death....
The left has crippled domestic and international counterterrorism. American soldiers are not allowed to shoot terrorists and the FBI and NYPD can’t monitor mosques or even be taught what to look for. Islamic terrorism has achieved unprecedented influence and power under Obama. ISIS has created the first functioning caliphate and Iran marches toward the first Jihadist nuclear bomb. The mass Muslim migration is beginning a process that will Islamize Europe far more rapidly than anyone expects.
The Jihad would not be a significant threat without the collaboration of the left. Without the left standing in the way, it’s a problem that could be solved in a matter of years. With the aid of the left, it threatens human civilization with a dark age that will erase our culture, our future and our freedom.
We cannot defeat Islam without defeating the left. That is the lesson I learned on September 11. It is a lesson that appears truer every single year as the left finds new ways to endanger us all.'
Elsewhere (again, please read the entire article) Greenfield remarks:
'.... Liberal Jewish and Christian groups, alongside gay and feminist groups, vocally advocated for the entry of millions of Muslim migrants whose contempt for women's rights was only exceeded by their loathing for Christians, their seething hatred for Jews and their violent distaste of gays.
Gay, feminist and liberal Jewish and Christian groups worked overtime to fill their countries with the demographic most likely to commit hate crimes against them....
The left does not help women. The left only helps the left. Beneath the slick advertising, the artsy designs that lend the illusion of the personal to the impersonal and the touching video narratives is the soul of an ideological machine whose acolytes are trained to allocate empathy in tune with a rigid set of rules that are as inflexible as any Soviet commissar's handbook. The left is not in the business of caring, but of coordinating, and it exploits empathy to gain recruits only to mandate the things that they are allowed to care about in a coordinated ideological fashion....
As long as feminism remains a slave to the left, it will be responsible for causing more women to be beaten, assaulted and raped. And then it will cover up the crimes and use the victims to sell more red t-shirts.
As Cologne, where hundreds of women were assaulted in one day, reminds us, a feminism in thrall to the left is one of the biggest threats to women.'
A truism if ever I heard one.

And then there is the bizarre apologia for Islam that many Christians evince, as in this current example from an old friend of ours:

Our old friend's above post (and of course he is not to blame for her outbursts, though in all decency he really should de-friend her) has inspired at least one of his professedly Christian anti-Israel Facebook followers to spew the raw and repellent antisemitism in the form of vicious slurs against Judaism that has become her hallmark:

Make no mistake, empathy for Islam and contempt for Judaism is by no means uncommon among the anti-Israel Christian set nowadays.

That, despite all the ghastly horrors Christians are subject to in much of the Islamic world (see Raymond Ibrahim's numerous articles on the sufferings of Christians at the hands of Islamists.)

What a curious nexus it is.

Be careful of Taqiyya, Friends!

"What is it with the Left and Jews? What is it with the Left and pandering to Islamists?" (includes videos)

Aussie Leftist media cartoon demonisation
As  the popular Aussie conservative columnist Andrew Bolt writes  in his syndicated column today regarding the Australian Labor Party (ALP):
"The modern Left seems to have a Jew problem. The obsession with Jews even within Labor is extraordinary - and ominous.
What is it with the Left and Jews? What is it with the Left and pandering to Islamists?"

Mr Bolt quotes from a sobering piece on the subject by Sharri Markson in The Australian newspaper, showing the Left faction of the ALP is so saturated now in leftist/Islamist bias against Israel as to be aiding and abetting that old demon, slumbering since the Shoah and now belligerently wide awake: Jew-hatred.

Ms Markson wrote, inter alia:
'.... The NSW ALP international relations policy committee chairman Michael Forshaw told The Australian yesterday that 39 resolutions had been received concerning Israel and Palestine, compared with 17 resolutions dealing with other international issues, such as the Syrian war, the Myanmar junta, Paris terror bombings, China free trade and foreign aid.
There were none on Saudi Arabia or Iran.
There are moves to recognise Palestinian statehood and to boycott products from Israel that originate in settlement areas, and many concerning banning trips to Israel while Benjamin Netanyahu is Prime Minister. The move by Labor is partly driven by political motivations to secure the vote from Muslim communities in marginal southwest Sydney seats.....'
She cites the main offenders, and their thraldom to the Muslim vote.

She reminds the reader of the 'incendiary remarks' (Jewish advocacy groups are “cancerous” and “malicious” and try to “deny, misinform and scaremonger”) made by NSW Labor politician Shaoquett Moselmane, who felt comfortable enough broadcasting ... anti-semitic sentiment within the walls of the NSW Parliament' despite having ' ironically decried racism' in his maiden speech:
'He was not shouted-out of the high office he holds for racist commentary. On the contrary, Labor continues to support him and Moselmane is now a vocal advocate behind a push to ban Labor MPs from visiting Israel on trips funded by Jewish organisations…
The father of the anti-Israel movement is Bob Carr, whose speeches have on at least one occasion, in July last year, elicited anti-semitic commentary from the audience, with a remark made about “the Jews” and their “3000-year fundamentalist influence.”
And I remain deeply concerned by comments by [Tony] Burke ...  a Labor frontbencher which seemed to legitimise Islamist terrorism against Israel....'

In the videos below pro-Israel federal MP Michael Danby, from the ALP's right faction, which, happily, still includes supporters of Israel, is seen on Australia Day talking to The Shtick's Henry Greener about the menace of the ABC's Sophie McNeill and dishonest reporting about Israel.

This one (after a few opening bars of jazz) focuses more than the top one on Ms McNeill:

"What's A British Version of Judaism?" asks the imam defensively, to applause

Before going on to declare:  "Islam is all about love.  Islam is all about peace."

Welcome to Al Beeb's discussion, in Bradford, Yorkshire, of "The Big Question," in this case, "Do we need a British Islam?"

In perhaps too up-beat a tone than is strictly necessary, the BBC studio host, Nicky Campbell, points out that Islam is the fastest growing religion in today's Britain, with 100,000 converts adding to the number, two-thirds of them women.

Going against stereotype, a woman in a sombre black face covering interrupts and hassles the opening speaker, Adam Deen, before being assured by the host that he'll call upon her in due course.

As for that "British version of Judaism," since Jews believe "the law of the land is the law," have never sought to impose their religion on others, and have contributed to general society in a myriad of fields out of all proportion to their numbers, I'd have thought the imam's question redundant.

Comments (inter alia) the website Is the BBC biased?:
'It was impossible to derive any kind of satisfaction from this unpleasant programme.  Viewers were further away from knowing whether or not British Muslims think they need a British Islam at the end of the programme than at the beginning. At one moment, when Nicky Campbell tried to elicit a straight answer from an Imam, one might have thought we were dangerously close to getting somewhere. But no.
It was just an unstructured row, with no beginning, middle or end. Maybe they’d have forced out a more definitive answer if they’d stuck to the usual format, stuffing three different Big Questions into the allotted hour. Condensing it might have taken them by surprise. Who knows what might have come out in the rush....
Judging by what we saw on this programme and what we already know, that is insoluble. True Islam is unBritish and true Britishness is clearly unIslamic.
I’m suspicious of people who wear a collar and tie with a jumper so I felt obliged to Google Adam Deen.  He has an extensive Youtube / web presence.
I learned that he used to be called Hakkan Cerrah and is married to T[he] B[ig]Q[estion]regular Myriam Francois Cerrah....
The Big Question that needs answering is  one that no TV presenter ever gets round to putting.
Is Islamic antisemitism acceptable in Britain? Why does the antisemitism in Islam get a free pass? The British don’t like it when antisemitism or racism emanates from any other individual or group, be it a non-Muslim individual, a right-wing antisemite or a bunch of Nazi sympathisers. But with the majority of Muslims antisemitism and anti-Zionism are a given.
Mindless opposition to Israel’s existence is rooted in gross antisemitism, and that is the elephant that’s always present in the studio. An enormous elephant that’s allowed to career around, willy nilly, trampling on everything with impunity, utterly and completely confident it can get away with it.' [Emphasis added]
See the rest of that post here

And, incidentally, in a feature called "Why French Jewish people are moving to London," Al Beeb coyly hints at a tusk but nevertheless fails to acknowledge the elephant in the room.

A Gay Reaction to BDS?

Odious scenes here:

See Professor William Jacobson's terrific post on the apparent outcome (if true, not before time) of this antisemitic hatred.

The Hiss of Hass

"David Collier, David Collier, the website to watch!"

British readers of a certain vintage will realise immediately that the above sentence paraphrases a famous advertising jingle for a (now defunct) chain of High Street tailoring stores: "John Collier, John Collier, the window to watch!"

David Collier runs the always compelling and sometimes spell-binding British pro-Israel blog Beyond the Great Divide.

His latest post concerns an odious analogy made at what seems to have been essentially an anti-Israel hatefest at the University of Kent  by a certain female Israeli journalist (the hint as to who is on my play on words in my header).

Writes David Collier inter alia, in a formal complaint to the university:
"....The horror that modern antisemitism is being spread in campus, amongst the educated, rather than in the deprived neighbourhoods, makes it a considerable threat. One that the University of Kent just assisted. Over here of course, they translate the word ‘Jewish’ as ‘Zionist’ to evade censure, then they can say anything they like. Last week, on the FB [Facebook] timeline of someone advertising your event, I saw a comment of ‘just kill all the Jews’. Two minutes later it had been changed to ‘Bastard Zionists’. In the mind of the author they are one and the same.
As a Jew in the UK there will be no running. I will not sit down and ignore the fact that antisemites are taking control of the streets and the campus. I will not silently turn my back as if I do not know where this road leads. I will not let the University of Kent provide a stage for the [Tsarist era forgery] Elders of Zion and walk away as if I just have to accept it.
A simple apology is not good enough. 200 people left the room having been fed antisemitism on your campus. These people need to be told that what they applauded was antisemitism. Each of those people is a little bit more ‘extreme’ than they were before hearing the speech. Some had a pure ‘fix’ for their addiction. And the Jews in the UK? Well, we are all just a little bit less safe than we were.
I heard mention of the Elders of Zion in your university. I heard talk of Jewish conspiracies. I look forward to receiving your thoughts."
Be sure to read all of David Collier's complaint here and his connected post (with video of the Hass speech) here

Meanwhile, another excellent British pro-Israel blogger, the intrepid Richard Millett, who frequently goes where others fear to tread, describes here his despicable treatment at a recent anti-Israel hatefest in London.

EU Labels: A French Oleh Writes ...

Here's a post on European double standards by French oleh Jean Vercors.

He will be no stranger to regular readers of this blog.

His article is provocatively entitled "The European Union is happy : it's just following in the footsteps of the Nazi boycott to make the world better".

Writes Jean Vercors:

The European Union (apart from the Czech Republic, which has all my respect) approved without hesitation Wednesday the implementation of the labeling of products originating " Israeli settlements in the Occupied Territories ".

What is immediately striking is that the EU is not at all embarrassed that its decision closely resembles the Nazi boycott of 1933. The old demons die har . In 1933, an economic boycott against the Jews was decided by the Nazi leadership, just weeks after coming to power on 30 January that year.

For the EU, these exports to label sources "Israeli settlements in the Occupied Territories", that is to say the geographical areas annexed by Israel after the 1967 war: the Golan Heights , Gaza Strip, West Bank and East Jerusalem.

The Jews, we must say, dared to defend itself in a war that Europe believed lost to Israel: remember the embargo of Charles de Gaulle and his statements after Israel crushed the enemy [in 1967]. They dared to reclaim their historic lands of Judea and Samaria, and Jerusalem! Who can forgive the Jews for refusing to submit? Certainly not Europe.

The European measure involves mainly agricultural products: fruits and vegetables, wine, honey, olive oil, eggs, dates, chicken ... because the vast majority of industrial exports "colonies" consists of components or spare parts then assembled in finished products, which makes them difficult to trace.

Cosmetics from the Dead Sea are also targeted, but the EU still does not know that the Ahava company was bought by the Chinese (Chinese investment firm Fosun ) and that the Chinese do not perhaps hear with the same ear.

Will EU technocrats, one day soon, draw signs on Jewish shops in Europe that sell these products, as did the Nazi SA (Sturmabteilung or Storm Troopers ) in 1933?

The Star of David was painted in yellow and black across thousands of doors and windows , accompanied by anti-Semitic slogans such as " Do not buy from Jews," "Jews are our misfortune ."

Acts of violence were perpetrated against Jews and Jewish property across Germany, the police intervening only rarely .

According to the directive given by the European Commission, the mention of the country of origin must take into account the heading under which the territories are most commonly known.

The indication " Israeli settlement " should be specified in brackets, for example.

Mention may be formulated as follows: "Product of the West Bank (Israeli settlement )"; if the product comes from "Palestine" but not a "colony,"  the statement could be: "Product of the West Bank ( Palestinian produce )."

The formulation is left to the discretion of member states, which are responsible for implementing and enforcing EU legislation on consumer protection . The economic impact of this measure could create unemployment and misery of the Palestinians, but the EU does not care: for it is a small price to pay to punish the Jews.

The New York Times, for example, recalled that at least 25,000 Palestinians work for Israeli companies operating in the "so-called occupied territories " and are paid three to four times more than wages in Palestinian businesses. Many will lose their jobs but the EU does not care.

According to Israel, "it is strange or annoying to see that the EU chooses to apply double standards towards Israel, while there are more than 200 territorial disputes in the rest of the world, the case of Western Sahara, which Morocco took control in 1975 and which is not subject to the same treatment by the EU being one of them. "

Also this recalls the Arab boycott (inspired by the Nazi model) in respect of Israel established even before the existence of the State of Israel, coordinated by the League of Arab States in December 1945.

Why labelling Israeli goods and not Moroccan products manufactured in Western Sahara annexed and colonised?

And Danish products made in Greenland? Will they be labelled?

And the products of Ceuta and Melilla occupied by Spain?

And what about the products from Martinique, Guyane, Réunion, Corsica, Brittany, Basque country occupied by France?

And the products manufactured in the Turkish part of Cyprus colonised and annexed?

And those manufactured by the Chinese occupied Tibet?

Or the products manufactured in the occupied Dutch Guiana, the products Falklands Islands (Malvinas) occupied by England?

The EU prefers to import rapugees ["rapefugees"] and terrorists rather than Israeli tomatoes?

Targeting only Israel and ignoring the others is quite unbearable, but the EU does so with one voice having a good conscience, feeling of doing what is right and human. Before the war as it was thought in Germany that getting rid of the Jewish problem, it was for good.

The great humanists and defenders of EU human rights does not even attempt to justify its double standards against Israel.

Israel is so strong, and Europe, alas, so advanced in its self-destruction, that the Jews with their long history are likely to see European civlisation disappear like so many civilisations before it.

Pretending hypocritically to fight injustice by labeling, by putting again to humanity the idea of Jews as pariahs, Europeans are only encourage hatred and violence (in the name of justice!).

The Czech Republic, Hungary and Greece (which, interestingly, is the most antisemitic country in Europe according to the latest study by the ADL) have rejected this discriminatory directive.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said
"This is an ineffective instrument, irrational and that do not contribute to a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but causes damages."
Czech MP Robin Böhnisch, denounced these measures.
"The argument of the European Commission that the guidelines are a service for European consumers is absurd. It is obviously intended to put Israel under pressure, and at a time that requires a meticulous political activism rather than awkward.
The creation of the European Economic Community was founded on the idea that we cannot achieve peace and security as trade, economic cooperation and employment creation - not by boycotts and isolation. The same is true for Israelis and Palestinians ".
The EU claims to be fighting against racism and discrimination; since the Amsterdam Treaty ( 1999) yet it does nothing to protest, for example, the massacres of Christians.
The purpose of this labeling directive is intended to reduce the Jewish nation, to press home the shameful trope, via each label, that Israel is a colonial villain , a thief of lands*.
