Eretz Israel is our unforgettable historic homeland...The Jews who will it shall achieve their State...And whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind. (Theodor Herzl, DerJudenstaat, 1896)

We offer peace and amity to all the neighbouring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all. The State of Israel is ready to contribute its full share to the peaceful progress and development of the Middle East.
(From Proclamation of the State of Israel, 5 Iyar 5708; 14 May 1948)

With a liberal democratic political system operating under the rule of law, a flourishing market economy producing technological innovation to the benefit of the wider world, and a population as educated and cultured as anywhere in Europe or North America, Israel is a normal Western country with a right to be treated as such in the community of nations.... For the global jihad, Israel may be the first objective. But it will not be the last. (Friends of Israel Initiative)

David Singer: "Obama Got it Wrong from the Start & Nothing was Going to Save Him from Failure in the End"

Here's the latest article by Sydney lawyer and international affairs analyst David Singer.  It's entitled "Palestine – Obama's Ignorance Becomes His Nemesis".

Writes David Singer:

President Obama enters his final year as President having given up on trying to resolve the Jewish-Arab conflict – following in the footsteps of so many other American Presidents whose similarly-shared lofty and noble aspirations ended in abject failure.

In Obama's case his inability to fully comprehend Jewish history and the connection of the Jewish people to the land of Israel was the catalyst for his inevitable failure – as tellingly illustrated in his landmark speech in Cairo on 4 June 2009:
"Around the world, the Jewish people were persecuted for centuries, and anti-Semitism in Europe culminated in an unprecedented Holocaust. Tomorrow, I will visit Buchenwald, which was part of a network of camps where Jews were enslaved, tortured, shot and gassed to death by the Third Reich. Six million Jews were killed – more than the entire Jewish population of Israel today. Denying that fact is baseless, ignorant, and hateful. Threatening Israel with destruction – or repeating vile stereotypes about Jews – is deeply wrong, and only serves to evoke in the minds of Israelis this most painful of memories while preventing the peace that the people of this region deserve."
Israel's current Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dore Gold, has now revealed how Israel's then leadership viewed Obama's above remarks in this frank exchange published in Frontline on 6 January:
"When the president goes to Cairo for the speech, and you heard him speak, what did you think?
Well, everybody that was in my entourage focused on the whole notion that the state of Israel rose as a response to the Holocaust. That was something that was unacceptable.
Why?
Because Israel has an eternity to it that goes far back before the 20th century, the 19th century, and even earlier. All we have to do is know that there was a Jewish majority in Jerusalem already at the time of the American Civil War. All we have to know is that we had a civilization here that was destroyed by the Romans. You can now find the catapult, the Ballista, used to fight the Jewish resistance at the time of the 1st century, 70 A.D. Our history is all over this city and all over the country. Therefore, an explanation that sees us as a bunch of Europeans who are looking for a refuge from the Nazis is a partial and not terribly accurate understanding of the soul of this country.
Does it surprise you that the president of the United States would make that error?'It surprised me that they have a speechwriter who would be allowed to write that kind of document, because I think Sen. Obama was presented with the four dimensions of Israel, but someone decided to take this partial approach in a presidential speech, and it didn’t earn him confidence with the people of Israel. …"
Blaming Obama's ignorance on a speechwriter is being very charitable to President Obama and his administration including the State Department and his equally failed Secretary of State, John Kerry, who all must accept collective responsibility for Obama 's further statement:
"The United States does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlements. This construction violates previous agreements and undermines efforts to achieve peace. It is time for these settlements to stop."
Questioning the legitimacy of the right of the Jewish People to live anywhere in their ancient biblical and historical homeland – sanctioned by both the League of Nations and United Nations – was catastrophic.

Question the political wisdom – but not its legitimacy.

Obama got it wrong from the start and nothing was going to save him from failure in the end.

"The West Decides to Pretend That Radical Islam Doesn't Exist" (updated)

I like this astute and brave young American guy, Ben Shapiro.

Ben on BDS:

Ben on Leftist inconsistencies:

Ben on the Iran threat:

 Ben on the Islamic menace:

Yesterday, in relation to the latter problem confronting the West, and the all too common denial voiced by world leaders including Angela Merkel and Barack Obama, Ben Shapiro wrote, inter alia:
'Last year, there were 452 suicide terror attacks across the world. Four hundred and fifty of them were committed by Muslims. Last month, Muslims pledging allegiance to ISIS murdered 14 people in San Bernardino, California. Last week, thousands of Muslims around Europe, from Germany to Sweden to Switzerland, sexually assaulted hundreds of young women on New Year's Eve. Just days ago, a Muslim man shot a Philadelphia cop at point-blank range and declared that he did it in the name of Islam.
In response, Hillary Clinton declared, "Muslims are peaceful and tolerant people and have nothing whatsoever to do with Islam." ...The mayor of Cologne, Germany, told young women not to walk within "arm's length" of young Muslim men, and leftist commentators explained that the wave of sexual harassment resulted from some generalized, nonspecific religious patriarchal attitudes. The mayor of Philadelphia said that the attack on the police officer had nothing to do with "being a Muslim or the Islamic faith," and that instead, we ought to focus our attention on the pressing issue of gun violence ....
If the West keeps this up, there won't be any West of which to speak.
.... The West is far too powerful to lose to ISIS or radical Islam -- unless the West decides to pretend that radical Islam doesn't exist. In pathological fashion, that's just what our leaders have apparently decided to do.'
Read all of Ben Shapiro's piece here

Read, too, the comparable warning, from across the Herring Pond, of the prescient and courageous Douglas Murray in The Spectator that concludes:
'Later this month the House of Commons will discuss the urgent issue of Mr Trump. This is because last month Trump said that he wanted to stop Muslim immigration into the US and added that Britain and Europe have a serious Muslim extremism problem. Because of this more than half a million people signed a petition calling for Trump to be barred from Britain. This now has to be debated in Parliament and doubtless all those MPs who rarely do much about problems they could deal with will grandstand their opposition to a foreign politician who doesn’t care what they think. In the last week we have been reminded that the British government not only doesn’t know who is coming into our country, but doesn’t even know who is leaving either. Still, it’s all fine so long as we divert ourselves by talking Trump. Perhaps this will be the European habit for some time to come. Perhaps it will finally do for us.
Millions of people whose identities and beliefs are unknown have been let into our continent. Many who have been here for a few years continue to present challenges which are by no means minimal. There seems to be a belief that so long as we have got Katie Hopkins, Donald Trump or Tommy Robinson to kick around then we can focus our energies on ignoring the problem.
Of course all one can do is warn. But it seems to me that, if we keep distracting ourselves from the problem and beating up on every response to it, then this continent of ours is going to go very bad, very fast.'
Rest of Murray's article here

Oh, and by the way, I've come across an unpolitically correct gem of a video that puts the situation in a nutshell: "The fear to offend outweighs the will to survive".  It uses the mass assaults of German women as the peg on which to hang its warning about the bleak future facing Europe if things continue the way they are.  It makes uncomfortable viewing, but we ignore its inherent message at our peril.  Do take a look:

Engendering Danger: Male mass Muslim migration & misogynistic malevolence

A trifle sad, is it not, how some Leftists would rather grouse about the sexism lite in this photo

than deign to say a condemnatory word against the hardcore misogyny represented in this one?

Beauty and (some of) the Beasts: From my Facebook page
My Tuesday post on Elder of Ziyon this week concerns the hypocritical and outrageous near-silence of Western feministas concerning the sex attacks on women in Germany and elsewhere on the European continent at the hands of mainly Muslim men, so I won't reprise here the views I've given there.

However, I'd like to call attention to the video below, which abhors the importation into Europe (take heed while there's still time, Australasia and North America) of men from a culture and a region in which loathsome contempt for and brutal maltreatment of women is entrenched.

The Palestinian  Arabs do not emerge from this video as blameless in this regard, yet, bizarrely, swathes of the Western "feminist" movement have declared anti-Israel activism a feminist issue.  A mad, mad world indeed.

Infamously spoken by Oz's ex-Grand Mufti, Sheikh Hilali
As Professor Phyllis Chesler, who has personal experience of living in a Muslim society, writes inter alia, in a must-read piece, 'mass public gang rapes represent the normalization of "Islamist" ways and are also another face of jihad':
'..... European men rape European women every single day. But make no mistake: the pattern of sexual harassment and rape in the Muslim world in general is vastly different. Muslims in Sudan and Nigeria have perpetrated similar horrific attacks upon Christian, animist, and Muslim women. Similar atrocities took place in the former Yugoslavia, perpetrated by both Serb and Croat Christians and Muslims. Nevertheless, in an Islamist era, such Muslim-perpetrated attacks have assumed monstrous proportions.
Recall the roving gangs in Egypt in Tahrir Square in 2011, the mass groping and the assault of blonde American journalist Lara Logan. Realize that hundreds, perhaps thousands, of Egyptian Muslim and Christian women were also groped and sexually assaulted, whether or not they were wearing headscarves or face masks.... [graphic example follows] ....
If Germany and Austria—if all Europe--does not find, prosecute, and deport all the men who took part in the recent New Year's Eve atrocities, they will soon discover that such attacks might become regular features of European life and will occur on most holidays; that, like Muslim women, European women will increasingly live in fear; begin to stay indoors; and that female workers will increasingly suffer from post-traumatic stress symptoms. A European woman's quality of life and efficiency at work may decrease. This will be true for women of every ethnicity and religion....'

There are other urgent lessons to be learned from the misogyny glimpsed in the above video, and seen in Cologne and elsewhere on New Year's Eve, very crucially the insanity of permitting a prevalence of young unattached Muslim male 'migrants and asylum seekers' to enter Europe in enormous numbers, many of whom, through sexual predation, are making life miserable for women and children fleeing to Europe the Middle East as well as for non-Muslim women.

This article surveys the situation as it affects Germany, and also examines other worrying factors:

And this one warns compellingly of the folly of immigration programs that fail to preserve the natural gender balance, a balance that must be followed if host nations are to have a hope of avoiding the victimisation of women and other anti-social behaviour:

'....   58 per cent of Europe's arrivals in 2015 were adult men, UNHCR data says ....
Research shows where men outnumber women rates of violent crime, property crime and crime against women are higher
According to the UNHCR, 58 per cent of the more than 1 million migrants and refugees who arrived in Europe last year were adult men, 17 per cent were women, and the remainder were children.
Professor Valerie Hudson, a Texas A&M University professor, said gender imbalances could cause serious problems in the community.
She said societies where men outnumbered women were more susceptible to higher levels of violence, insurgence and mistreatment of women....
"What we have found uniformly [in societies where men outnumber women] is a rise in crime, particularly violent crime, property crime, crime against women." ....
"We also see much more ease of recruitment into criminal gangs, or quasi-rebel/social movement-type gangs.
"We also see across the board a more constrained lifestyle for women and there's also a significant rise in demand for trafficked women, either as 'brides' or prostitutes." ....
Professor Hudson said her colleague Andrea den Boer, from the University of Kent, was doing her own research on Germany's gender ratio.
"[Dr den Boer] found that the sex ratio alteration in the young adult population, according to her ... preliminary calculations [is] looking also to be abnormal at about 114 boys of that age for every 100 girls," she said....
"Speaking as an American who has studied global gender issues for a long, long time, all of us look to northern and north-western Europe as an example of cultures that have successfully pursued gender equality," she said.
"To now see folks like the Mayor of Cologne urging women to dress differently, to behave differently, that there may be certain 'no-go areas' for women, I think is tragic....'
As the Australian scholar of Islam Dr Mark Durie observes in concluding an excellent article on Islamic sex slavery,
'It is not a sign of tolerance when free people deliberately silence themselves about the ideological drivers of sex trafficking. The same can also be said of acts of terrorism, such as the world has witnessed over the past week in France, Tunisia and Kuwait.
Until societies are able and willing to have a frank and free discussion of the ideological drivers which motivate acts of terror and abuse, they should not expect to be able to develop effective strategies to contain or wind back such atrocities.
A state of denial is a state of defeat.'

Would You Tell Your Citizens to Boycott This, President Zuma?

The year 2015 closed with the BDS movement in South Africa releasing a triumphalist video:

They're not alone in that: a number of Israel-hating activists around the world have been doing likewise.  But unlike the BDS movement in most countries, their efforts to isolate, undermine, and destroy Israel as we know it are supported by their country's head of state.
“We reiterate that we discourage travel to Israel for ANC leaders, members, and representatives, for business and leisure purposes. The ANC encourages our government to continue its programme of talking to all parties in the Palestinian territory and calls on the people of Palestine to work together to bring about self-determination."
Thus declared South Africa's President Jacob Zuma on 8th January, during the ANC’s 104th anniversary celebrations.

President Zuma went on:
“The ANC is very concerned about the deteriorating situation in the Middle East as this has the potential to trigger a global conflagration. We urge parties to co-operate in line with principles of international law and resolutions of the United Nations.”
Now, President Zuma, it's a sad and well-known fact that more people in your country are suffering from the AIDs virus than are any other people in the world.

It says so here

In fact, it's estimated that one in ten South Africans are infected with HIV.

So reflect, sir, on this report by Rotem Elizera, which tells us that two Israeli scientists at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Professors Abraham Loyter and Assaf Friedler,
'believe they have reached a breakthrough in destroying the virus and have announced their plan to start clinical trials on human beings within three months....
The two scientists believe that the cells infected with the virus can be killed without harming the entire body, thereby curing the HIV carrier. How does it work? Instead of one copy of the virus' DNA which enters the carrier's cell, many copies will be inserted, leading to an activation of the cell's self-destruction mechanisms. The researchers have developed peptides (short chains of amino acid monomers) which cause this process.
These peptides, combined with the existing medications, were tested on cultures of human cells infected with the HIV virus. The results were promising: Within two weeks of treatment, there was no sign of the virus DNA or infected cells, and the virus was undetectable even two weeks after the end of the treatment. The researchers' conclusion was that not only can the virus infection be stopped, but that the infected cells can be destroyed too.....
Patrick Levy, 50, the first executive director of the Israel AIDS Task Force who has been an HIV carrier for 28 years now, is optimistic.
"There are always reports about breakthroughs, so I try not to expect too much so as not to be disappointed," he says. "This time it looks like a very interesting breakthrough. If it has reached the point of a clinical trial on human beings, it's definitely a dramatic development and real news.'  [Full report here]
Can you honestly say, President Zuma, that if this Israeli invention lives up to expectation and cures those carrying this horrible virus, that you would discourage your members and other South Africans from availing themselves of it.

Curing HIV sure beats spreading the virus of BDS, doesn't it, sir?

A Night at the Opera (video)

Following on from my previous post, here's footage of the anti-Batsheva stunt in Paris:

The background music to the video is wonderfully soothing, anyhow.
