Eretz Israel is our unforgettable historic homeland...The Jews who will it shall achieve their State...And whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind. (Theodor Herzl, DerJudenstaat, 1896)

We offer peace and amity to all the neighbouring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all. The State of Israel is ready to contribute its full share to the peaceful progress and development of the Middle East.
(From Proclamation of the State of Israel, 5 Iyar 5708; 14 May 1948)

With a liberal democratic political system operating under the rule of law, a flourishing market economy producing technological innovation to the benefit of the wider world, and a population as educated and cultured as anywhere in Europe or North America, Israel is a normal Western country with a right to be treated as such in the community of nations.... For the global jihad, Israel may be the first objective. But it will not be the last. (Friends of Israel Initiative)

"The Jews ... Want To Put Poison Into Things The Muslims Like": Saudi preacher

Here's some of that Olde Tyme religion again, Saudi style.

In the words of the uploader:
'In an address posted on the Internet on May 3, 2015, Saudi Islamist preacher Abdulla Ba Neema (sometimes spelled Baneameh) said that the Jews "put poison into things that the Muslims like." According to him, WhatsApp, Twitter, and Facebook are tools used by the Jews to poison and hearts and minds of the Muslims. "Our women's honor has been violated as a result of social networks," he said, adding that WhatsApp "is the sewage that flows in your heart." Despite his criticism of social networks, Ba Neema runs very active Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts. Ba Neema was paralyzed in a swimming pool accident.'

And here's how a westernised Muslim woman remembers life in Saudi Arabia.

Another Olde/New Tyme preacher tells the faithful how to treat the infidel:

Tonge in Place & "Nasty" Nick Cotton's Noxious Noise

The inevitable set of Mendacious Maps prominently displayed, the Richmond branch of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign has been making merry with all the fun of the fair.

Among the Israel-haters saying their bit to camera in the following footage by branch honcho Alex Seymour (aka Seymour Alexander) is the incorrigible Jenny Tonge, looking and sounding as sour as always.

But the "star" of Seymour's video is a bloke with a Jewish name.  He's actor John Altman, best known for playing Dot Cotton's jailbird son "Nasty"Nick Cotton in the BBC TV soap "EastEnders".

The script that Altman spews is full of spite and venom, and woeful, disgusting ignorance.  Shame on him.

Meanwhile, north of the Border, where the Scottish Nationalists have trounced all comers, the Israel-haters of the Argyll branch of the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign have been indulging in May merriment of their own.  They held a conference yesterday in Glasgow on the theme "Ending Scottish Arms Trade With Israel".

And talking of Mendacious Maps, as I noted briefly on this blog's Facebook page last week, there's a new set out.  This sleight-of-hand set, presumably intended for a British audience, is from a seemingly new kid on the block.  In his own way he's as ignorant as "Nasty" Nick Cotton: he  claims that the Britain promised Ottoman Palestine to both Jews and Arabs. But, of course, the Mandate was for the Jewish National Home, not an Arab national home or a "Palestinian" national home, not least since nobody, including the Arabs themselves, had any notion of a separate "Palestinian people" at that juncture.

Feathers From A Bradford Duster

"Today a rooster; tomorrow a feather duster" (Australian saying)

Poor Gorgeous George.

The ex-Respect MP with the monstrous ego still compares himself to a lion, to judge from his bravado in that appallingly graceless losing speech of his in Bradford West after his resounding drubbing at the hands of Labour's Nazeem Shah was announced.

Ms Shah, of course, had been traduced by him as a liar regarding revelations of her forced marriage to a stranger in her "British Asian"  family's country of origin when she was 15 and its registration in Britain when she was 16 (the legal minimum age for nuptials in the UK) so that the groom could settle there.

Tapping into the party of Muslim "victimhood"
So this is an especially sweet victory for her.

In defeat, George let rip with:
"I don’t begrudge the Labour members here their moment of celebration of course.
But there will be others who are already celebrating: the venal, the vile, the racists and the Zionists will all be celebrating.
The hyena can bounce on the lion’s grave but it can never be a lion and in any case, I’m not in my grave. As a matter of fact I’m going off now to plan the next campaign."
But really George is just another of the 2015 British General Election's many fine examples of roosters, once cocks of the walk, who are now feather dusters. (They include the atrocious antisemitic anti-Israel Lib Dem David Ward, thrown out of his own Bradford seat by a discerning electorate!)

Let's have a look back at a sample of George the Duster's feathers, which, while he was still a rooster strutting about Bradford with his particular set of chums, were preened during his failed election campaign:

First, from "Team Galloway":

Then, squawking from the cock himself:

On the mean streets:

A vow about an alleged paedophile (hardcore "Islamophobes" will doubtless see the irony in this), who just happens to have been a stalwart defender of Israel in Parliament:

Campaign literature of the member for Pakistan Palestine:

With the granddaddies of the party and the 'hood:

Hmmm, segregated on the top deck where the cold winds blow, while the menfolk sit cosy and snug inside the campaign bus, George?

Contrasting himself with his Labour opponent:

And one of several mocking squawks about members of her family being in his camp:

Naz Shah sure is one woman on top now, though, eh, George?

As the saying goes: "pride has  a fall".

Carter's Call For Palestinian Elections Can Be Seen As Timely, Argues David Singer

The getting of wisdom after all?
Here, entitled "Carter causes consternation with election call for Palestinian Arabs," is the latest article by Sydney lawyer and international offairs analyst David Singer.

He writes:

Former US president Jimmy Carter has created a stir with his call for Palestinian Arabs to hold elections to end the internecine struggle between Hamas and the PLO in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) and Gaza.

Speaking at a joint news conference with PLO Chairman Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah – after cancelling his stop in Gaza where he was supposed to meet Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh – Carter – now a member of the independent Elders Group of global leaders – declared:
"We hope that sometime we'll see elections all over the Palestinian area and east Jerusalem and Gaza and also in the West Bank"
No Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) elections have been held in over a decade  – even though Abbas's term in office as President expired in January 2009 – a position he continues to fill without any constitutional authority to do so.

In 2006 – a year after Abbas was elected as President – Hamas overwhelmingly won the one and only election ever held in Judea and Samaria. The PLO refused to accept its electoral defeat and a year afterwards Hamas violently ousted Abbas's Fatah faction from Gaza and seized control there.

Carter’s call can be seen as timely – given the current stalemate in the negotiations between Israel and the PLO and the distinct likelihood they will not be resumed.

Indeed one could see Carter’s election call as the most constructive contribution he has made to peace in the Middle East since his following statement in Time magazine on 11 October 1982 [cover above] concerning Jordan and Jordan’s late monarch, King Hussein:
“Hussein is personally courageous but an extremely timid man in political matters. That timidity derives almost inevitably from the inherent weakness of Jordan. As a nation it is a contrivance, arbitrarily devised by a few strokes of the pen”
This viewpoint would be just as applicable in 2015 to Jordan’s current monarch, King Abdullah, who is trying to distance himself from any involvement in the future of Judea and Samaria even though Jordan was the last Arab country to occupy those territories between 1948-1967.

Elections would enable the long-suffering Arab populations in Gaza, Judea and Samaria to have a say in their future after having been under the tyrannical dictatorships of Hamas and the PLO for almost ten years.

Ironically there are those who argue against holding such elections because they are worried that Hamas will again be triumphant – resulting in greater upheaval and unrest than currently exists.

Respected commentator Khaled Abu Toameh puts it thus:
“Free and democratic elections are the last thing the Palestinians need now. Such elections would only pave the way for a Hamas takeover of the Palestinian Authority and plunge the region into chaos and violence. As long as Abbas's Fatah faction is not seen as a better alternative to Hamas, it would be too risky to ask Palestinians to head to the ballot boxes.”
Abu Toameh presumes that only Hamas and the PLO will contest any such new elections.

Given their woeful performances over the last ten years, any such new elections would hopefully spawn the emergence of political parties other than Hamas and the PLO with markedly differing viewpoints and policies – perhaps even parties calling for Jordan to enter into negotiations with Israel to allocate sovereignty of Judea and Samaria and even Gaza between their respective States.

Keeping people in a perpetual state of silence by denying them any say in their future is a guaranteed recipe for disaster.

When people vote – they bear the consequences of the Government they elect.

Carter the Elder has spoken. What says Obama the Younger?

Manchild in George's Promised Land

As Britain goes to the polls, an article by a journalist and pundit called Ben Judah begins:
'Welcome to Gallowayland.
This is what I think as I drive into Bradford.
In two hour’s time I will be punched in the head.
The squinty moon-face of one of Britain’s most ferocious orators glares from the street posters, capped by a black fedora.
... George Galloway has turned the constituency of Bradford West into his own world, catapulting into parliament as a Muslim-grievance politician from Britain’s most Islamic city.
Galloway, a former Labour Party MP, has got his seat by using anti-Zionist rhetoric, whilst suing critics who say he is anti-Semitic. His political genius is to have twigged that Bradford’s multiculturalism is a mirage: He now plays the city’s Pakistani clan politics, of family controlled votes, for power.
British civility has collapsed in Bradford’s elections.
The Labour Party is reported to have struggled to choose a candidate without the acquiescence of the Kashmiri clan dominating its local branch, and supporters of its eventual candidate Naz Shah have received menacing threats — like the dead crow, its mouth stuffed with grass, she found on her doorstep.
Bradford has also earned a reputation in Britain as unfriendly to Jews — a place where a journalist who walked the streets in a skullcap in March was almost immediately abused.
Galloway, who heads something called the Respect Party, has declared the city “an Israel-free zone.”
I drive through Gallowayland.
The leader of the Respect Party calls Bradford “the city of gold,” and has been going around the city in an old Rolls Royce, or an open-top double-decker bus fluttering with Pakistani and Palestinian flags.
I drive around shuttered industrial yards, cramped terraces of rising damp, and boarded-up pubs, their roofs sprouting with plants.
Respect has told me they are holding a “rally” in the community hall of St. Martin’s Church that I may attend as a journalist.
I walk into the hall....'

Update: Galloway has lost his seat!!!

"The World Has Hallucinated A Sabre-Toothed Tiger": Maureen Lipman on Israel-hatred

Here's the warm, witty and wonderful British actress Maureen Lipman speaking succinctly about the need for Jews to speak up on behalf of the traduced and heroic little nation that the BDSers love to hate:

And here's the eloquent Israeli Arab diplomat George Deek, speaking for half an hour before a pro-Israel London audience last week:

An Absolute Must-Read On Antisemitism in American Academia

Revolutionary Student Brigade poster, 1975
American campus anti-Israel activity some 40 years later, here and below

The respected American scholar Ruth Wisse has written a lengthy and important article on antisemitism/anti-Israelism on US campuses in which she observes, inter alia:
'[W]hy should anti-Semitism flourish in the sweet groves of academe rather than in the fouler corridors of power? How does intolerance for a Jewish state thrive in the very institutions that advertise their tolerance for threatened minorities?....  On what grounds do American universities, considered liberal to a fault, assail the only liberal democracy in that part of the world?
The question harbors its answer. Israel is attacked not despite but on account of its liberal democracy and its buoyant pluralistic culture: two commodities held in notable disesteem in the nominally liberal but in fact anti-liberal environment of the contemporary American university. The boycotters wrap themselves in the mantle of free speech only to silence those who stand for the kind of genuine individual and human rights that flourish in Israel. They shout down liberal speakers like Israel’s ambassador to the United States just as they shout down and shut out champions of Muslim women’s rights.
In these respects, today’s anti-Israel campus coalitions are heirs to the anti-liberal coalitions that raged in the 1960s against the war in Vietnam and against the traditional American values embedded in America’s constitutional culture....
Wholly negative in its goals—indeed, a prototype of the negative political campaign—anti-Semitism promised and still promises progress not through social reform, which must be seen to keep its promises, but through destruction, symbolized in the destruction of what the Jews have attained.
The anti-Semitic component of modern anti-liberal ideologies like fascism, Communism, pan-Arabism, and now Islamism has allowed alliances to form among otherwise competing groups, thereby facilitating anti-Semitism’s acceptance and normalization and in turn gaining for these ideologies a greater durability than they could likely achieve without it. On the merits, Arab and Muslim students could never have persuaded their American peers to sympathize with repressive regimes and homegrown terrorists; blaming the Jews for these and other deformities was the key that unlocked the door.
In the campus culture of victimhood ... someone must be cast as the invader. It was thus inherent in the “logic” of left-wing campus politics that the anti-American revolutionaries of yesteryear would morph into the so-called pro-Palestinian protesters of today; once Arab and Muslim students began pressing the case against Israel in the familiar terms of victimized natives vs. Western imperialists, they filled the vacuum previously occupied by Students for a Democratic Society. It tells us much that the cause of anti-Zionism, forged and perfected in Stalinist Russia, should have become the strongest legacy of the phony “idealism” of ’60s radicals, and anti-Jewish campus coalitions their logical heirs....'
