"Cohenopolis"

Jesse Jackson notoriously dubbed it "Hymie Town", and of late antisemitic incidents there have disgustingly been on the rise.

As in certain other American cities (check out this video, and not least some of the comments below it.)

But to a humorous writer in the Chicago Tribune just over 100 years ago New York City had become so synonymous with Jews and they so comfortable in it that "Cohenopolis" seemed an apt name.
