Avowing Israel's Commitment To Peace, Bibi Netanyahu Blasts Iran & The Bomb (video)

".... The Jewish People have come home.  We will never be uprooted again."

That is how the wonderful Bibi Netanyahu, with that marvellous sense of history of his, begins his fine speech before the United Nations General Assembly the day after Yom Kippur.

"Israel stands proudly with the forces of modernity," he declares, avowing Israel's commitment to human rights, its contributions to the welfare of humanity, and its compassion, as distinct from the medievalism of miltant Islam, rooted in "the bitter soil of intolerance."

He warns powerfully of the terrible threat that Iran (possessing as it does a network of terror networks across the world) armed with nuclear weapons poses not only to Israel but to the rest of the world.

"Militant Jihadists behave very differently from militant Marxists," he reminds those who suppose that there could be a deterrent effect, a Balance of Terror, as between the West and the Soviet Union in the Cold War or that a nuclear-armed Iran would stabilise the Middle East.

"When it comes to the survival of my country, I have not only the right to speak, but the duty to speak."

The one way to prevent Iran getting the Bomb is to place "a clear red line under Iran's nuclear weapons programme."

This is a 32-minute video that merits attention from start to finish.

  1. And this is the history that he is quoting:

I will plant them on their land, and they shall never again be uprooted out of the land that I have given them,” says the LORD your God.

The more I know about this man, the more I like him.

  2. The most important speech of our times fullstop
I seem to have a different U-Tube version of it, which shows who applauds and who does it. It is absolutely shameful that among the "american" delegation, there seems only ONE who applauds - as to some rather not very bright looking figures I suspect a few who dont understand it, despite the very simplified drawing that the delectable Prime Minister of Israel offered so generously just for simpletons like them. Arrrrrgggghhhhhh
