Undoubtedly, one Israel's best spokesmen. A brilliant communicator. What amazes me is that many people who were alive when these things happened seem to have forgotten what really happened.
Precisely, Ian. I agree he's a great communicator. Sadly, Israel has taken a rather cavalier attitude over the past decades to the calibre of spokesmen they field. Abba Eban was a wonderful asset in this regard, as is the great Bibi, but far too many spokesmen have not been fluent English-speakers, whereas the fluent and personable Hanan Ashrawi has been a skilled communicator for the other side. Israel seems to be waking up - slowly.
I do not remember Abba Eban, but both my wife and I have admired Bibi from the early days. As for Hanan Ashwari, for the sake of my sanctification and blood-pressure, the less said the better...
