  1. The similarities between Galloway and Oswald Mosley are striking.

Mosley too moved around the fringes like a chameleon. Before he decided to openly ape Mussolini he was on the hard left of Labour.

When it comes to political style Galloway could have used Mosley as a model. Just as Mosley appealed to the rawest bigotries and allied himself with the worst and most dangerous fascist powers of his day so of course does Gallaway.

They even have a physical resemblance. I once found photos of each taken in profile in full rant in front of their ugly crowds, and posted them together. Not only did they look the same, each had his right arm extended fascist-style.

  2. I actually think George Galloway is a rather nice-looking man, and I like his voice. I'm sure the raised arm was not meant to be fascist; it was doubtless Mr Galloway's way of emphasisng a point.

  3. Being a bloke, whether or not these men are "nice-looking" is not something I would ordinarily notice. Mosley was regarded a handsome man. For sure Galloway is a gifted master of his trade just like Mosley was. But what a trade. When I look at these men I see a pair of dangerous demagogues as ugly as they come.

Of course the "salute" was an obvious catch of the camera I selected for its ironic appeal. But there was a serious point. Labels mean little. They are just tags of convenience. From where I stand these two men look to be occupying roughly the same space. Mosley was at work in a different time is all.
