"Who is the Muslim Brotherhood?": New Video from a US Congresswoman's Office

Congresswoman Sue Myricks (Republican, North Carolina) takes a close interest in Islamist movements, particularly as they impact on the United States and the West. She wrote the foreword to David Gaubatz’s 2009 book Muslim Mafia (read the foreword here: http://washingtonindependent.com/64104/rep-sue-myricks-foreword-to-muslim-mafia) and she founded the Congressional Anti-Terrorism Caucus.

In the wake of the current unrest in Egypt, Congresswoman Myrick’s office has produced this video, to counteract widespread ignorance regarding the Brotherhood’s aims and aspirations.

As well as viewing it, have a look at this rather disturbing report in Israel Today (hat tip: Ian G)

  1. This video is ignorant double-talk. Islam is a religion of Law. Obey the law and perhaps you will find favour with Allah. All religion works that way.

Relationship is based on trust or faith. In Judeo-Christianity, YHWH seeks out sinful Adam and prepares a plan of redemption. It is faith that guarantees favour. Abraham was the friend of God, Moses saw YHWH face-to-face, David was a man after God's own heart and so on. In Habbakuk, and in three places in the NT, we are told that the just/righteous shall live by faith.

The Law is a guide to righteousness and not the means of procuring it. This is why sacrifice is necessary.

When Law becomes the means of procuring favour then people become self-righteous. Sadly, both Judaism and Christianity are regularly afflicted by this. It is built-in to Islam.

Finally, the acid test. Look at the Founders.

The Islamist is simply a more thorough and committed Muslim who models his or her life on Mohammed.

The video also makes a very dangerous distinction by suggesting that religion and politics should not mix. Islamic extremism is being used subtly to advance a secular humanist agenda that would keep committed Jews and Christians out of politics.

  2. Sorry, but islam and islamist are the same! How can they be separated? Sharia law tells mozlems how to behave every moment of their waking lives. No mozlem is a true believer in izlam unless they follow every word of the koran.

There are people who do not follow all the tenets of izlam: they are not considered proper mozlems.
As RecepTayyip Erdogan, Prime minister of Turkey recently said: "There is no moderate izlam, only izlam".
