Eretz Israel is our unforgettable historic homeland...The Jews who will it shall achieve their State...And whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind. (Theodor Herzl, DerJudenstaat, 1896)

We offer peace and amity to all the neighbouring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all. The State of Israel is ready to contribute its full share to the peaceful progress and development of the Middle East.
(From Proclamation of the State of Israel, 5 Iyar 5708; 14 May 1948)

With a liberal democratic political system operating under the rule of law, a flourishing market economy producing technological innovation to the benefit of the wider world, and a population as educated and cultured as anywhere in Europe or North America, Israel is a normal Western country with a right to be treated as such in the community of nations.... For the global jihad, Israel may be the first objective. But it will not be the last. (Friends of Israel Initiative)

Alone She Faced Them, One Brave Woman & Her Israeli Flag

Watch this video of the anti-Israel rally in Melbourne yesterday, and see how the ferals reacted when they spotted a woman bearing an Israeli flag running between the tramlines.

Meanwhile, the usual screeching was taking place:

More footage of the rally (note the heavy leftist involvement) here

Londonistan rallies again

So do the usual suspects in Auckland, New Zealand (ever noticed that it's very often a hysterical-sounding lefty female who leads the raucous chanting at these sorts of anti-Israel parades?)

A feral mob strikes in Calgary, Canada (hat tip: reader Shirlee)

  1. Hi Daphne,

I'd like to offer a perspective on this which may or may not be useful.

When I was young, I was a good leftie. I went on the anti-Vietnam War moratoriums. I chanted all the slogans - 'Down with US imperialism', etc., etc., without knowing anything about the conflict, not realising I was simply regurgitating communist propaganda. If anyone had told me that's what I was doing, I would have said, 'That's AMERICAN propaganda (i.e. the idea that it was communist propaganda)'. We were stupid and guileless; but the people behind it, the real communists, knew exactly what was going on and how to channel and control it. And the result, albeit indirectly, was the defeat of South Vietnam and the conquest, subjugation and enslavement of its people, with millions dead, and millions more fled.

But we didn't know anything of this. We were just kids, acting out a street fantasy born of our juvenile moral narcissism. We had no idea what we were doing, nor of the forces that controlled us, nor the outcomes we were propelling.

These kids are no different. Foolish naifs, controlled from without, recklessly aiming for outcomes they neither understand nor anticipate. But behind them you can see the controllers, the agitators, the professionals (as with our lot). They know exactly what they're doing. And the results, if they get their way, will be even worse than what they achieved in south-east Asia.

I'm not saying we should downplay the importance of these demos. In aggregate, they have enormous potential - and catastrophic - implications for Israel and by consequence the civilised world. But we shouldn't hate the children just for being children. Despise them, perhaps - but maybe even that is too strong. One day they will grow up, and be ashamed, as I did - and as I was.

    1. Thank you very much for that interesting and insightful comment. I too was a mere youngster during the Vietnam era. But I was never inclined to the left myself.

    3. I've thought of it, Daphne, but I got disheartened after Cast Lead in 2009. The sheer impossibility of convincing your adversaries even of the remotest chance they might be wrong about Israel. But huge kudos to you and the others who have not given up.

    5. 40 years ago one could I suppose make a plausible argument in favor of ignorance. Today though it's simply not possible to say "I didn't know." These people hate Jews. Period.

    6. "These kids are no different. Foolish naifs, controlled from without, recklessly aiming for outcomes they neither understand nor anticipate. " This may be true about the young left-wing Australians. But I get the impression that many of the demonstrators/rioters are, in fact, Arab immigrants or children of immigrants, and they are motivated, not by naivete, but by hatred.

    7. I do agree with that, and I should temper my comment more than somewhat. Hatred is indeed a huge component of these demos, unlike the ones I attended all those years ago. And hatred is addictive, and it is infectious. Even otherwise decent people can be easily swept up in it. That's what I find to terrifying about this generation of protestors - that and the stark unreason that characterises them.

  2. In many of these cases, the demonstrators/rioters commit acts of criminal assault on Jews. Are they ever prosecuted? Does the Jewish community not follow through on complaints and insist that these criminals are punished top the full extent of the law? We never seem to hear of "what happened afterwards".
