Roll Up! Roll Up! It's the Viv & Sylv Show! Here are the two dubbed "Grannies for Gaza" (one from the so-called Jews Against the Occupation, the other a Green-Left ex-politician) talking to Students for Palestine about their experiences on flotilla and flytilla. Not a word about the suffering of the people of Israel through rockets from Hamastan, of course. And as well as that unwitting comedy duo, there's a rather more youthful BDSer, Vashti Kenway, a Socialist Alternative stalwart in Melbourne, drawing delighted cackles from the Israel-demonising faithful as she talks about the Max Brenner boycott, and alleging the "collusion" between "the far right" and the "Zionists" in supporting a "state there is no moral justification for". It's a very long video, and I reckon ten minutes' worth is as much as anyone who's not an absolute anti-Israel fanatic could muster. Meanwhile, it's great to learn that the new mayor of Marrickville, Morris Hanna, won't have a bar of the BDS nonsense this trio, and outgoing mayor Fiona Byrne along with fellow-Greens, espouse. See (hat tip: Shirl in Oz) the reports here and here.
Sorry, but I daren't add the (justifiably)strong comment I received because it may be defamatory...
ReplyDeleteVashti? With that name, am I right in thinking she's Jewish?
ReplyDeleteI don't think so, Bunty.
ReplyDeletedaphne you may have a problem with Blogger causing comments from regulars to go to spam
ReplyDeleteI'll give this a try
No, geoffff - my Spam folder is empty.
ReplyDeleteThanks Daphne. I have sorted the problem out here.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get past the four minute mark of that video (and that included the intro) I can't stand these people. It's the smugness that disgusts me most.

ReplyDeleteVashti Kenway is MOST DEFINITELY not Jewish
She's one of the 19 arrested at a BDS rally in Melbourne a few months ago. She has broken her bail conditions and has had bail set enormously high
I do not remember her background and can't find find anything either
What is it about a certain duo that makes commenters post phrases so strong that they might be defamatory?!
ReplyDeleteI've had to err on the side of caution in not accepting a second comment - but please don't take offence.
geoffff, glad it's sorted.
Shirl, many years ago in Canberra I knew another Vashti...
Rita, thanks for this reference:

Ms Kenway seems misinformed regarding the IDF: for a start, there was no massacre at Jenin.
What a pity Ms Hale doesn't actually have any self reflection- had she been able to do so she would then able to know that the the BDS and Socialist Alliances vilification and demonsisation that she so feels so bad about is exactly the same that she puts on the jewish/zionist people and Israel.
