No, Australian BDS fanatics are decidedly rattled by the parallels drawn between the BDS movement and the Nazi boycott of Jewish businesses.
I wrote yesterday, for example, how the Greens and their BDS running dogs are snapping at the heels of a pro-Israel councillor who's been articulately making the analogy between their relentless calls for the Boycott of the Jewish State and 1930s Germany.
They must have spluttered over their toast and Vegemite when they saw this article today, entitled "Deutschland Revisited" and complete with a swastika upon a green flag: http://austeaparty.com.au/web/?p=4792
Some promoters of BDS, including super-feminist Senator Lee Rhiannon and nice Jewish boy Antony Loewenstein (author of the notorious My Israel Question), are feeling so sore about such comparisons that they've been venting their indignation on the propaganda news station of the misogynistic full-of-human-rights-abuses regime run by the man who would unleash a second Holocaust, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Ah, the irony!
Just look at their indignation!
ReplyDeleteThey target AUSTRALIAN owned shops just because the franchisor of those shops is an Israeli company whose only “sin”, other than being Israeli, is that it supports its own national defence force soldiers or, as the co-managing director of the group, Ofra Strauss said: “To us they are not soldiers, they are our children”.
Strauss is the second largest food company in Israel and as such it is safe to assume that it supplies the IDF in the same way is safe to assume that the large food companies in Australia supply the Australian Defence forces but as our large food companies are owned in the USA we can also safely assume that they also supply the “oppressive colonialist” US military (oei vei).
In that case what is the difference between Strauss on one hand and, say, Kraft or Kellogg on the other hand? One and only one! Strauss is a “Jewish” company!!!
I must confess that until the recent demonstrations, I had never heard of Max Brenner, much less that there is a shop right under my nose in my own neighbourhood; I must have passed that shop hundreds of time being unaware of its “oppressive” nature. I am certain that I am not a Robinson Crusoe in that respect.
Although I am not a regular chocolate eater I’ll sure make the effort in supporting “my” Max Brenner shop.
I will do the same, Jacob. despite the waistline...
ReplyDeleteThere are two rather intemperate comments (from somebody else, not Jacob) I dare not post - but I appreciate the level of indignation over the Greens' obsession with BDS that led to them!

ReplyDeleteThe only thing that 'Max Brenner' is guilty of is supplying care packages to soldiers
The Strauss group has supported the Golani platoon for 30 years .
Their website says: “Our connection with soldiers goes as far back as the country, and even further. We see a mission and need to continue to provide our soldiers with support, to enhance their quality of life and service conditions, and sweeten their special moments.”
............and these clowns are carrying on like this, for that !!
I wonder why we have so many stores in Oz.
25 in total
4 in the USA
2 in the Philippines
2 in Singapore
…in Israel only 4
Well, Shirlee, the BDS fanatics may not eat his chocs - but they can eat their heart out!
ReplyDeleteDaphne,
ReplyDeleteyou can support Max Brenner without damage to your waistline.
They sell lots of cups, hug mugs etc online, PLUS chocolate body wash and chocolate body lotion.
A diabetic friend of mine who wishes to support Max Brenner was delighted to learn of this.
Thanks, very good to know - I have only to look at cakes in shop windows(Acland Street, St Kilda, for instance) to pile on the pounds.
ReplyDeleteHello Daphne
ReplyDeletejust like you, I began blogging in 2000 in response to the exponential rise in antisemitism and hostility to Israel.
