They are more keen to blame Israel than to defend Christians in Muslim countries.Philohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03229398030204201980noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-971541537715440752.post-38861899618516531252011-12-27T01:21:13.688+11:002011-12-27T01:21:13.688+11:00Thanks for your insights as always, Ian.Thanks for your insights as always, Ian.Daphne Ansonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12297188759548931101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-971541537715440752.post-9506669433071495642011-12-27T00:44:01.449+11:002011-12-27T00:44:01.449+11:00Anti-Semitism from Rome is no surprise. The surpri...Anti-Semitism from Rome is no surprise. The surprise is when it is pro-Israel. It all goes back to the questionable conversion of the Emperor Constantine. Floods of pagans , with their priests and customs, entered the church. Subsequently all future divisions of the Church would inherit this legacy. They brought with them Pagan anti-Semitism which fed on the legacy of the Diocletian persecutions, and others, of the Church and which, regrettably, was sometimes instigated by militant anti-Christian Jews (Nothing changes, we've all got fanatics like these). The resultant loss of Christianity's Jewish roots was furthered by moving the birth of Jesus to December and a sukkah became a stable.(It's in the Gospel of John, if you know where to look.) As an RE teacher, I found pupils surprised to discover that Jesus was Jewish. Just ignorance, but such ignorance can be manipulated by the unscrupulous.

Now we are all stuck with this poisonous legacy which is going to take great courage, grace and patience to overcome.Ian Gnoreply@blogger.com
