Daphne Anson: David Singer: United Nations Loses the Plot in Ignoring Israel-Jordan Reality

David Singer: United Nations Loses the Plot in Ignoring Israel-Jordan Reality

Here's the latest article by Sydney lawyer and international affairs analyst David Singer.

He writes:

29th November 2017 marks the 70th anniversary of United Nations General Assembly Resolution 181 (II) (Resolution) calling for the creation in Western Palestine of independent Arab and Jewish States and a Special International Regime for the City of Jerusalem (Partition Plan).

The Resolution did not mention:

· the “West Bank” (a term dreamt-up in 1950) – using instead the terms “Judea” and “Samaria” - their correct geographical place names for the previous 3000 years

· a “Palestinian State” – only an “Arab State”

· one Arab State had already been created in Eastern Palestine on 25 May 1946 named the Hashemite Kingdom of Transjordan covering 78% of the territory comprised in the 1922 League of Nations Mandate for Palestine (Mandate).

The Partition Plan was accepted by the Jews but vehemently rejected by the Arabs.

H. R. H. Amir FAISAL AL SAUD (Saudi Arabia) fulminated:

We have felt, like many others, the pressure exerted on various representatives of this Organization by some of the big Powers in order that the vote should be in favour of partition. For these reasons, the Government of Saudi Arabia registers, on this historic occasion, the fact that it does not consider itself bound by the resolution adopted today by the General Assembly. Furthermore, it reserves to itself the full right to act freely in whatever way it deems fit, in accordance with the principles of right and justice.

Mr. JAMALI (Iraq) protested:

In the name of my Government, I wish to state that it feels that this decision is antidemocratic, illegal, impractical and contrary to the Charter. It contradicts the spirit and letter of the Charter. Therefore, in the name of my Government, I wish to put on record that Iraq does not recognize the validity of this decision, will reserve freedom of action towards its implementation, and holds those who were influential in passing it against the free conscience of mankind responsible for the consequences.

Amir ARSLAN (Syria) joined the chorus:

Gentlemen, the Charter is dead. But it did not die a natural death; it was murdered, and you all know who is guilty.

My country will never recognize such a decision. It will never agree to be responsible for it. Let the consequences be on the heads of others, not on ours.

H. R. H. Prince Seif El ISLAM ABDULLAH (Yemen) was just as condemnatory:

The Yemen delegation has stated previously that the partition plan is contrary to justice and to the Charter of the United Nations. Therefore, the Government of Yemen does not consider itself bound by such a decision for it is contrary to the letter and spirit of the Charter. The Government of Yemen will reserve its freedom of action to-wards the implementation of this decision.

This implacable Arab rejectionism was the catalyst for the 1948 invasion of Western Palestine by six Arab armies and the perpetuation of the Arab-Jewish conflict for the next 70 years.

2017 sees:

· Iraq, Syria and Yemen as failed states - with Saudi Arabia in danger of joining them.

· The General Assembly sinking in quicksand of its own making after creating “The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People” in 1975 and adopting countless resolutions using emotive and artificially-contrived terms such as:

· “West Bank”

· “Occupied Palestinian Territory”

· “historic Palestine”

· “Palestinian People”

· “Palestinians”

· “Palestinian State”

· “two-state solution”

The United Nations continues to lose the plot whilst it:

(i) Uses such deceptive and misleading language

(ii) Fails to recognise that Jordan and Israel are the two successor states currently exercising sovereignty in 95% of former Palestine.

The United Nations must resurrect 1947 reality and abandon 2017 fiction.

The 6 day war in an odd way represented a resetting of the Arab narrative from "Israel is invalid from end to end" to "palestine in the west bank is illegally occupied." So from "palestine will be free from the river to the sea" they capitulated to "palestine in the west bank!" Of course that's not the limit of it and the arabs fully believe they will eventually conquer all the Jews but the narrative, the talking points today are limited to Judea and Samaria. In a generation when there's a million Jews in Judea and Samaria the 'palestinian' narrative will shrink again to 'palestine for 70% of the west bank!'. In another generation it will be 'palestine for half of the west bank!'. And so on. Eventually they'll grumble and be happy with demanding Ramallah and Jericho and part of Hevron.

Last but not least, the Reform Jews strongly opposed efforts to save European Jews from the Holocaust during World War II.

Those rescue effort were led by Orthodox Jews, who the Reform Jews considered to be: behind-the-times and obsolete and an embarrassment.

Israel is the Jewish National Home. If we are continually going to argue over the meaning of "Jewish" we are doomed to do the work of the Arab States who want to destroy us.

Look at what is happening in Islam - where Islam has imploded in unbelievable horror as witnessed in the Mosque massacre in the Sinai as Moslem murders Moslem.

Islamic State is another perfect example of what disunity among Moslems can breed as hundreds of thousands of Moslems died in Syria at the hands of fellow Moslems.

Hamas and the PLO have been engaged in a bitter internecine struggle murdering those on the opposing side as religious Islam struggles against secular Islam for power and control of the masses.

Be careful of spawning the same hatred between Jews of varying beliefs.

Expose The Lies!

There is a war of lies and deceit on the internet generating unbelievable hate by denigrating and delegitimising the legal rights conferred on the Jewish people by the League of Nations in 1922 and the United Nations in 1945. The idea that there are two narratives on the Arab-Jewish conflict is rubbish. There is only one – the factual truth that details the return of the Jewish people to reconstitute the Jewish National Home in its ancient biblical, ancestral and historic homeland after 3500 years of dispersion with the unanimous endorsement of the nation states then comprising the League of Nations.... The "Apartheid" Slur

The division of Judea and Samaria (West Bank) into three separate areas “A”, “B” and “C” was agreed on by Israel and the PLO pursuant to the Oslo Accords.
95% of the West Bank Arabs live in Areas A and B and their daily lives are under the total administration and control of the PLO since the Palestinian Authority was disbanded by Abbas in January 2013. The PLO has total security control in A and shares security control in B with Israel. Israel has total administrative and security control in C.
Israel is entitled to and will continue to take responsibility for the security of Jews living in the West Bank.
Jews were given the legal right to settle in the West Bank under article 6 of the Mandate for Palestine and article 80 of the UN Charter. They did so for decades until they were driven out in 1947 and not able to return there until 1967.
There are Arab roads only in the West Bank that Jews are not allowed to use. Jews are also forbidden from entering Area “A”. Selling land to Jews is forbidden by the PLO under pain of death. The PLO runs the daily lives of 95% of the West Bank Arabs and Hamas runs the daily lives of 100% of the Gazan Arabs. They have been under occupation – and subjugation – by these two evil groups for the last ten years and given no say in their future or any opportunity to elect others to lead them following the disastrous political decisions of their leaders over the past ten years. Hamas and the PLO do not accept the continued existence of a Jewish State and call for its disappearance.
