Eretz Israel is our unforgettable historic homeland...The Jews who will it shall achieve their State...And whatever we attempt there for our own benefit will redound mightily and beneficially to the good of all mankind. (Theodor Herzl, DerJudenstaat, 1896)

We offer peace and amity to all the neighbouring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all. The State of Israel is ready to contribute its full share to the peaceful progress and development of the Middle East.
(From Proclamation of the State of Israel, 5 Iyar 5708; 14 May 1948)

With a liberal democratic political system operating under the rule of law, a flourishing market economy producing technological innovation to the benefit of the wider world, and a population as educated and cultured as anywhere in Europe or North America, Israel is a normal Western country with a right to be treated as such in the community of nations.... For the global jihad, Israel may be the first objective. But it will not be the last. (Friends of Israel Initiative)

Stephen Sizer: "Zionism's Awful Anti-Christian Legacy"

Few reasonable people would deny that one of the fundamental causes of antisemitism throughout history has been the perception of Jews as "Christ-killers" and that the refusal of Jews, despite the most severe persecution by the hegemonic Church, to forsake Judaism for Christianity, resulted in martyrdom for Jews in medieval Europe on a wide scale.

Indeed, it was no accident that, even into the twentieth century, the pogroms that broke out in Eastern and South-eastern Europe tended to do so at Easter, when the crucifixion of Jesus was uppermost in the minds of the populace and the so-called Christ-killers provided a convenient scapegoat for public unrest.

The Anglican vicar of Virginia Water claims he is not antisemitic.  But what are we to make of an extraordinary statement he has made on Facebook in the past few hours?

An article in  Israel Today, a pro-Israel Christian magazine, focuses on a pastor called Lynne Hybels, who is evidently not a Christian Zionist.  Lynne Hybels need not concern us here, but the article concludes by saying:
"While certainly not an anti-Semite, she is guilty by close association with those who accuse Israel of everything from genocide to deicide. Perhaps unwittingly, she is carrying on Christianity’s awful anti-Semitic legacy."
In response, Stephen Sizer has left the following comment on Facebook: "No, Israel Today is carrying on Zionism's awful anti-Christian legacy."

"Zionism's awful anti-Christian legacy"?!!!

How utterly bizarre, how utterly false, how utterly shameful a claim.

  1. How false when figures show that Israel is the only country in the ME were the numbers of Christians is increasing

    **STEPHEN SIZER read this**

"The one bright spot is the state of Israel – "the only place in the Middle East [where] Christians are really safe," according to the Vicar of St George's Church in Baghdad, Canon Andrew White. Home to Christianity's holiest sites and to a colorful array of Christian denominations, Israel has the only growing Christian community in the Middle East.

Because Israel is the only non-Muslim state in all of the Middle East and North Africa, it represents a small victory for religious minorities in the region, and serves as the last protector of freedom and security for Jews, Christians, Bahai, Druze, and others. Without Israel, how much more vulnerable would Christians in the Middle East become?"

  2. And yet, the only place in the middle east where Christians are safe is right here in Israel!

    1. Thanks for that information. So I guess that means I can tell the Christian / Greek Orthodox Palestinians whose families were forced to flee their homes to Australia that they're welcome to come back to their homeland and homes then huh. I mean since it's so safe and all. Cheers.

  3. LH can do and is doing gazillion times more damage to the state of Israel and Jews in general than SS. She is also a proxy for BHO and is being used on multiple fronts for a common goal, even advertising on Christian radio for a range of goals deceiving. Baptists used to be (with few notable obvious exceptions) the single denomination most Christian Zionist. She has contributed to all that having been changed in the last few years. If I had to pick one person for immediate exposing it would be her (not that the damage could be undone, but it could be cut a big short). All the best, I see you are still doing a fine job blogging. Blessings, ER

  4. Apologies for the tardy posting of comments - having a sporadic connection problem.
Of course, it's not Zionism but Islamism which is busily persecuting Christians in the ME (and Africa) - what can the learned vicar be thinking of, and what is he telling the Koreans on his lecture tour?!

  5. I accept that most people hate Jews. What concerns me is that they're all given a free pass to be so openly proud of it. We're none of us ever going to stamp out Jew hate not even a little bit. But what these nasties say to one another at home or in church...well that's their problem. Who really cares? After all every other Mosque in Britain franchises that as well. But there's a difference between hate think and hate speech.
